    Love the fact that there was no traditional backbeat in this entire solo.
    Got a hint of Sput’s style in the middle/end of the video.
    Great textures and feel. So tasteful and original!

    Anyone else surprised this is a Ludwig kit? Best sounding one I've heard so far.
    And Jharis's solos are otherworldly. Creativity non-pareil on drums.

    Absolutely incredible!! In case anyone reading needs to know, Here's how I keep my hi hat stand from moving and wobbling; loosen the wing nut on the tripod/base until the base can move freely, place a foot on the tripod so you can press down hard with lots of force, while at the same time tightening back the wing nut. This is to get as much of the base/rubber stoppers into the floor as possible, and it'll be much more stable.

      @billmint8122 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      lmao who asked

    • @jas_bataille
      @jas_bataille 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're gonna destroy your stand, for real. Any decent hi-hat stand as one hard stop where all the legs are in contact with the ground. If all the legs are in contact... that's it... and that's all. It's not gonna move. In fact, pressing down with a lot of force goes in the opposite of that logic. If you press the pedal on the floor really really hard while the wing nut is disengaged, then the legs should lift in the air eventually. It makes zero sense. I'm sorry, but I've been doing this for 20 years and have never heard of any such technique.

    Jharis, you took some ideas I had but never dared to execute properly in my 17 years of drumming - double hi-hats, snare, toms on one side - and made them a reality! You're a new Terry Bozzio, incredible! I'm a band drummer but I could listen to you for hours.

    Proof that "whatever works" is the best policy. Except for posture. Dont EVER sacrifice posture or you'll end up like me. 37. Been playing for 24 years. And in so much back pain everyday that you would have given up those 24 years to not feel this way..... its a nightmare. My spine is now bent

    Tony Williams protege

    • @jas_bataille
      @jas_bataille 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ... no offense, but Tony Williams died in 1997. Jharis graduated Berklee in 2014 and there's no mention of Tony in any of his bio that I could find (just google his name).
      He looks very young, so the chances of him actually being a protégé of Tony seems astronomically low, unless of course he was a little kid.
      But if he was, the industry would know, and he would be pushed, much much further than he is right now.
      Inspired by Tony - and Terry! - that's another thing....!
