Yeah the Bentleys might be the star of the video. But come on, the 2003 Sebring 12 had a Spyker C8, a Zonda and a TVR in it. That's more important than the Speed 8.
I still think the Speed 8 is one of the best looking modern race ever made. Along with the LeMans winning Peugeot 908, the only other manufacturers to win LeMans from 2000 to 2014.
The Olive Garden Ferrari (3:50) was my favorite car in the ALMS during this period. This was also a very significant race in the history of racing games, as the Carsport Zonda and Dark Dog Saleen from the Forza Motorsport series (probably the other three ALMS GT/GTS cars from the first game as well if I had to guess) are based on entries from this race.
And you would be very correct. The Volkswagen Group didn’t want the Audi R8 to compete again another Audi prototype so they slapped a Bentley badge on it and called it a day.
The car was strongly based on the two Audi LMP900 and LMGTP entred at Le Mans 1999: the R8 Roadster, run by the main german racing team, and the Coupè, an elegant long-tail developed by a British branch of Audi Racing. Of the two, only the R8-R shined, whilst the R8-C proved fast but unrelaiable. So, they got two cars, and the first became the base of the 2000 R8 prototype, and the latter, was improved in relaiability throughout 2001 and 2002 under the Bentley banner (owned by the Audi Group) and, with a not so different bodywork from the 1999 R8C to have more "british" appeal, the trick was done. They lost the first year at LM 2002 to the Audis (some said at the time that it was all put up to make it seem a true duel between different manufactures in rivalry), and it got it's victory in 2003. And so, from an unrealaible but fast and beautiful british-developed Audi, to a Bentley even more beautiful, faster, relaiable and, most of all, very capable of reviving the Bentley Logo for the happiness of the Audi Group.
God the Speed 8 looked so damn especially thanks to the British racing green color. I immediately fell in love with the car when I first saw it in Gran Turismo 4 over 20 years ago, been one of my favourites ever since I'd love if Bentley could do a sequel in the hypercar class
Interestingly, in 2021, there was a 24 Hours of Sebring, and of the 24 cars that were entered, 23 started, 18 were classified as finishers, and 16 actually made the checkered flag.
You should mention that, unlike in Europe, LMP675 and later LMP2 in the US were able to run for overall victory and often did win. So P675, P900 and GTP could all win and were equal on pace.
A question occurred to me yesterday: at what point will Sebring get a repave? Having an objectively shitty surface is part of what makes Sebring special, but surely it will degrade to the point of unsafety before the track falls out of use. I wonder what would break the camel's back, and what a Sebring repave would be like.
The concrete is FEET deep as it is an old airbase that needed to withstand bombings and such, so they not too uncommonly actually shave down the concrete bits that become too bumpy. The asphalt bits of the track have been repaved before though and it’ll probably happen again at some point
I do like the look of the bentley, it looks brutal in its shape. Also, seeing open cockpit prototype cars is cool, but is kind of scary that in a freak accident your head is the first thing another car/wall/flying tyre might have contact with. Not exactly something you wish unto anyone.
Alternate title: The little Viper that could 🤣
Sebring history and funny moments deserve a series on this channel… such a great race, such an amazing track

It also had the Lister Storm LMP in the race too.
Not to mention Lola’s, MGs, and Panoz
I had no idea the spyker and the zonda existed.
Even saleen was there
@@magnom3922 These old s7s were monstrous.

3:33 TVR MENTIONED! WTF IS SAFETY AND SENSIBLENESS IN A CAR
2003/4 had some of the best GT cars ever raced. Listers, Vipers, Saleen S7's, TVR. A great age for the cars
we need a video about the pagani
This video is just amazing. Showcasing rare entries from that race.
Beautiful

That Bentley was basically an Audi in disguise.
Yep. The R8C.
And you would be very correct. The Volkswagen Group didn’t want the Audi R8 to compete again another Audi prototype so they slapped a Bentley badge on it and called it a day.

Ha! At an FIA GT event around this time, I bought a scale model of that Seikel Porsche! The "Cow" livery was legendary around that time

Quality, interesting and funny as always 👍👍
I do love me some Pagoni 🤣🤣

Nice as always manor street track car appreciation 90° corner asmr guy
Your videos are far more enjoyable than the highlight videos of endurance races
That Pagani went to Le Mans as well. I’d recommend a video on it
It didn't do too well since it retired after 10 laps with a broken gearbox
@@AdamTheMan1993 I said it went there, never said it did well. Regardless it’s a cool niche car that I think should be given the spotlight
i like how theres next to no video of that particular car on the internet, likes its an urban legend or something
Can you do the Deltawings life from Indycar potential to Le Mans and then IMSA ???
love the videos
Would it be an idea to make a video on the history of Spyker in endurance racing? Seems exactly like the type of story that would fit your channel
awesome video

The bumps are what make Sebring Sebring. I say leave it be

@@jackarmstrong7285 I overheard they just did that.
Yep, at least patched some zones.
Some races manage to get a rep just for being unsafe as "crown jewel" events. Just look at Monaco.
Great vid dude
Keep pumpin' those out m8, your way to the big leagues for sure. Btw Bentley GT3 is the best Boat and I miss it dearly!
We need a spiker and zonda video

Man, wouldn’t it have been nice if a Bentley boat GT3 had run in IMSA for at least one race
Was the technicality that lost them the front row start, that they changed tires after qualifying? Think I remember that.
Loved the vid :)
Plz do Mainz as a street track failure, it was an airfield circuit but who cares.
What was the technical infraction that sent the Bentleys to the back?
do one about when a privater car won Sebring, I know it's bit late for it now
2:55 Man such a simple yet horrible spelling mistake 🗿
I have a request for STF: Long Beach (Formula E)
The Speed 8 is the last "GT" car to win Le Mans
HELL YEAH TEAM CORVETTE!!
about the Pagani is this the only time a Pagani was entered into a motorsport event?
The Carsport Pagani did race at Le Mans the same year in 2003 only it lasted 10 laps with a broken gearbox
Hang on .A Pagani zonda?
im confused
6:34 Don't think the car's supposed to do that m8
Sebring is 4 90 degree corners, in a flat surface, most boring circuit made
