      Gabriel a quick question/request, would you mind covering a head movement pattern or drill when you are not engaging. Moving your head in a certain letter shape or something you like and find works for you. Can't get my head around it literally and figuratively 😂

  • @whoknows8223
    @whoknows8223 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    2:51 This is a suuuper important aspect in fighting taller opponents who have reach advance. You need to slip and move forward with a small step and close distance, where you can reach them with your punches and they cannot.
    First reflex is to back off and don't come forward, because it is scary. But if you don't come forward and just slip evade backwards, you have won nothing on ground and no offense going. They still have the long range they want where they can reach you but you can't reach them!

    I have a big head , super long torso and short legs so it made head movement a real pain for me , but not nearly as painful as getting my giant dome cracked all the time. It's easy to ignore stuff like this but it's so worth making it a habit . It's awkward at first but when your body gets used to it it's not bad .

    do you implement rolls in muay thai/kickboxing rules? how do you feel about slipping strikes such as kicks and knees? should i preemptively be in a crouchish leaned forward position to move my head easier? thank you coach

    • @ahmadday64
      @ahmadday64 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1.) you should implement rolls carefully, try it in sparring if you train, if you dont record and post.
      2. you cant really slip a knee, its ment for your body 9/10 and ive never seen a knee to the head be slipped i recommend against it
      3.absolutely not. The only people who can constantly pull of that type of counterpunching are anderson sliva and other high level slick fighters, and even he got knocked out one or twice doing it

    • @ahmadday64
      @ahmadday64 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      another thing, keep your eyes on your opponent while slipping, dont turn your head. also never go stright back unless its against a high kick

    This is actually something I started doing on my own after watching videos of Mike Tyson shadow boxing. I have only added this kind of preemptive head movement to two of my Combos because due to my lack of experience I didn't do to well while that up close and I wasn't sure how to effectively move out without getting hit. Do you have any tips on how to distance myself from my opponent without having to clinch?

  • @lemures87
