    This is exactly what's going on with me. It started in 2019. I was driving on 71S to see my son at college and was rounding to merge onto a 4 lane highway going 70mph and got extremely dizzy and disoriented. I thought I was going to pass out. I pulled onto the shoulder and luckily a state trooper pulled up behind me and got me off of the highway at the next exit. I haven't driven since. I feel like the ground is moving under me when I walk sometimes. I've been to an ent and a few other doctors and have been tested. It's not vestibular issues. How can I get help in or around NE OHIO?

    So if I have BVD do I use prism glasses or improve with Therapy? I've heard prism glasses can lead to further problems in the future as eyes get lazy. What's the truth?

    • @visionspecialistsofmichiga5333
      @visionspecialistsofmichiga5333  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It is recommended that you have a NeuroVisual Exam first. Prism glasses can correct the misalignments that people can fix with therapy. We most often prescribe prism glasses because it is a more immediate and convenient solution for patients.
      In regards to eyes getting lazy over time with prism use, we've found this to be false. Most BVDs don't come from eye muscle weakness, rather, they come from eyes that are physically pointing in slightly different directions, causing all the symptoms people to experience. Using prism, we're able to 'trick' the brain into thinking the eyes are pointing in the correct direction.
      We often compare prism to shoe lifts... we use shoe lifts for people who have one leg that's slightly shorter than the other. We use prism for people who have one or both eyes that aren't exactly aligned. With a shoe lift, the leg isn't weaker, just shorter. The same thing is true for subtle eye misalignments and BVD.

      @@visionspecialistsofmichiga5333 Thank you so much for taking the time to answer and explain this to me. I'm humbled. I'm seeing a therapist in July for a "Binocular workup" exam. They say it's to see if I have BVD. Not sure if it's the same thing as the NeuroVision test. I'm happy to hear from a professional about prism glasses. I've seen another therapist on TH-cam say that prism glasses hurt people long term, even leading to possible surgery. I'll see July what the tests reveal and I'll go from there.
