I just played it and liked it but I definitely understand why some people don’t like it. It’s very repetitive and because there are so many enemies and loot, killing the bad guys becomes a bit of a chore and you’re just trying to get to the next cut scene. Great game but Alan Wake 2 does it so much better
Maybe back then it was but after playing through the remaster it’s average and some of the scenarios are really unfair, but I reckon back when first released it was mind blowing
it was nuts when it came out and it felt like i got to see a whole new side of it this time. i agree though some of it felt like filler and some scenarios are just unfair haha
Was it good for its time? Sorta, maybe, but with big caveats. I thought the idea of the game was better than the implementation. Does it hold up in 2024? No, absolutely not. The controls are clunky, the gameplay is very repetitive, the graphics are dated and the story is, ok, at best. No longer recommended.
I think it’s still a pretty good game for it’s time, and i had a great time going through it again just recently, catching a bunch of things i missed during my first play-through. Tough to compare it to games today though ill give you that. I’d still recommend it to people interested in the title/ remedy universe of games
Is it still recommended? I don't know, people still play Max Payne from 1990s as well. Would you rather play AW1 than RE5 & RE6? Definitely. AW1 is recommended especially for those seeking desperately new information from RCU and trying to connect the dots
I'll never understand why some people say it doesn't hold up, it's still a very good game :)
agreed!! super excited to play Alan Wake 2!!

I haven’t touched quantum break either , but for some reason I’ve had it downloaded&ready to go for the past two years 😄
hahaha it sits in my library taunting me
??? You have to play Quantum Break then... amazing game, amazing story.. loved the game
on the list to play soon!!
I played through it and got a platinum a month ago. Frankly, this felt like one of the least necessary playthroughs of an old-ish game I did.
dang i really enjoyed, im seeing it's a little more divisive than i originally thought

@@the.assistant.janitor I just replayed it recently on Steam, and had to downvote it.
I really wanted to like it again, but it's a real chore.
