No, no Rob. Your shows were THE BEST! Succinct, well researched, and very balanced. There are other folks out there, but you were top notch for sure. Irreplaceable.
Man, do I miss Rob and the intelligent and thoughtful insights he brings to Tesla news. No rumor, undue speculation or hype, just down to earth analysis by looking at the news as objectively as possible and not succumbing to knee jerk hysteria. Thanks for the interview.
Always appreciated Rob's well balanced outlook on Tesla. Even more, appreciated the fact he wasn't a blind fanboy, which most others are. Same for Dave Lee. Too bad, both have scaled back immensely.
Rob Maurer: A Gentleman of gentlemen, a beacon of common sense, facts, truth and obscure nuance. A person (think he’s a man, does it matter?) who appreciates criticism, and always applies a calm sense of reason to any heated debate. 🙏🏼 O1K
Rob slowing down on Tesla Daily when this comp thing is happening and FSD is on the cusp of success is like Jon Stewert leaving the Daily Show right before Trump became president. We need you Rob! :) I’m really glad he did this interview. I’ve been wanting his insights on this. It’s interesting to hear that he won’t be adjusting risk going into the shareholder meeting.
We need more people like Rob, the bulk of TH-camrs that used to be pro tesla now like to spread news of tesla in a negative way. We need people to spread facts not propaganda.
I love the rant! I’ve been saying that for years. People are clueless. We’re In our EV bubble but the masses go about their day and don’t go out their way to educate themselves. Propaganda/Marketing really does work.
I think Rob was a great help to many small investors in navigating the bumpy Tesla stock price. Always very calm and thoughtful, who was able to keep his calm even with Gordon “Clown” Johnson. Thank you for all the research, entertainment and education on this journey
Miss you Rob. Hope things are going well for you? I remember owning shares when the model 3 launched and all the rumors Tesla was going bankrupt. Everyone was laughing at me for holding them. Then in 2020 they were jealous because I had enough to retire. I voted yes and I'm buying more. The only reason I will sell is if SpaceX goes public and get get preferential access to
The layoffs are typical of a tech company. Silicon Valley employees work at the same job an average of 18 months. Layoffs average about every 4 years. The company technologies and projects evolve rapidly in technology.
Hi. Regarding Route & Charging Point planned ahead - During Cold weather the Battery needs to be Prepared Before charging If you Insert Rout and follow it - Tesla Will heat up so the Charging would be Quick. Great to see y'all again
What your looking for right now is the Fed to drop interest rates to open some of the market. That will take longer to see than to create it. They should see in the market right now some blood in the water with car loans, dealerships in bankruptcy, both areas underwater along with the housing sector. Plus credit card delinquencies are high. People who in the last 2-3 years bought a home or auto is underwater most likely on a loan. It could get worse if the Fed does not drop the rates. FDIC is posturing for bank issues.
Let's take away the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl win because in hindsight going back to August it was pretty easy to do and obvious they would make it and win. Elon Musk earned his package. Great channel. Love Rob!
Rob it’s great to hear your perspective again 😃. Your report each morning is truly missed. If it was so easily achieved, why would Elon need to be sleeping on the factory floor? Also would that judge fore go her monthly income, & sleep in the court room, in order to hit some milestones of major court decisions over the next 5 years & then have that money held for a further 5 years for that work??
Back when I did a lot of management consulting, one of the first questions I would ask a client or potential client was, “If you were starting this company today, would the organization look just like it is now?” Nobody ever said YES to that. So Elon is on to something. He is also not afraid to disrupt his own company to adapt to new opportunities. However, for the past 6 or 7 years Tesla has had its pick of the best and brightest engineers because they’ve been rightly enthusiastic about the opportunity Tesla (and SpaceX) offers to work on the bleeding edge of auto production, AI, robotics, and space flight. I wonder if that enthusiasm will diminish in light of Elon’s scorched Earth philosophy of management.
FSD is making great progress. Tesla should allow owners to add FSD to a second owned Tesla family vehicle at a discounted price. Someone that has purchased FSD should have a transferable license and be able to use it on multiple family vehicles. Why has there been such a long delay to updating or refreshing the Model S and X interiors with the new ambient lighting. Many people are holding off buying a new Model S or X while waiting for the new features. Why the slow roll out ? The focus on FSD is great but the cars need timely updates to their features. The slow roll out hurts sales. New features need to be rolled out promptly and not dragged out. The lack of focus on the Model S and X is hurting volume sales. All the costs for research, development and amortization of manufacturing equipment for the S and X should be written off by now. It is time to lower the prices of the Model S and X to reflect the reduced costs and increase sales volume. Glad to see the price drop by $2000 Should be more like $5000 drop. You need to be able to pick a desired exterior color and interior color and still be eligible for the IRA $7500 tax cut. Missing out on the $7500 tax cut because you chose to pick an exterior ($1500) and interior color ($2000) is just crazy.
Meh. X and S sales don’t contribute much to Tesla’s bottom line. What I love about Tesla is that they focus on what truly matters. These are all good ideas, but it’s not obvious they are the best ideas and what Tesla should focus on. They know where their focus needs to be. They have the plan and the data.
Rob!!! As for FSD, With v12 (and probably more so with 12.4/5) it’s likely it can run cross country with no intervention- especially if it were to be tried multiple times. Someone should do it… before the vote ends!!! (just to prove a point but also would get a lot of press!)
While enquiring how to vote, I just found out that my trading platform does not allow shareholders to vote! CMC Markets is one of the largest trading platforms in Australia for overseas shares. The shares were purchased directly by myself... so not part of an ETF or similar. They won't tell me how or even if they may use MY shares to vote. Don't even know how it is legal but I do know it is absolutely outrageous. I wonder just how many shares (mostly retail shareholders) worldwide are affected by these half baked share trading platforms. Very worrisome.
Rob should write a book about Tesla. Don’t forget that no new major car company startup has been successful in over 100 years. Only Rivian is close now and maybe China’s Li Auto. But, they mostly only make hybrid or phevs. Plus neither are close to Tesla’s near 5 million vehicles sold as well. Stepping back and looking at the big picture, Tesla is one of the most successful companies ever and it isn’t stopping there.
Great job Rob, responding with a long term prospective. Eli sounds just like Garry, claiming UNNAMED person or people, to push a short term narrative that has little or no impact with long term investing.
Tesla should be selling more models by now. Delivery van, small pickup, mini cooper. That is what was so exciting about Tesla- an American company that made great cars in the USA.
Eh. They’ll get there. The reason why I invest in Tesla is because they super focus on what is most important. Because of that, they are in a strong position to weather the storm we are in with high interest rates. I played Risk a lot as a kid. It taught me that there’s a balance to be found between spreading yourself too thin and conquering.
Elon's exact quote: “Our goal is, and I feel pretty good about this goal, that we’ll be able to do a demonstration drive of full autonomy all the way from LA to New York, from home in LA to let’s say dropping you off in Time Square in New York, and then having the car go park itself, by the end of next year. Without the need for a single touch, including the charger.”
I kind of disagree with Rob 36:00 claiming that Tesla firing lots of people and then re-hiring some back is a normal or even a good thing. Think about it. If you were fired by Tesla without warning and to no fault of your own and then Tesla re-hired you, would your enthusiasm and level of motivation and your overall loyalty to the company improve or decrease?
Yes. it's rare when I disagree with Rob's insights, but this is one of them. After the firing and rehiring, how many are going to be -- in Elon's words -- "hard core" when he needs them to be?
Rob is without a doubt the most thoughtful Tesla community member. The next person would be Jeff Lutz. The rest of the bulls are a joke and have questionable integrity. Rob had hundreds of shows for years and not even once used a clickbait title. That takes some rare integrity.
Meh. Who cares? Things that are worthwhile always take time. FSD is a massively hard problem. The thing to focus on is not when Tesla will solve it but rather if they are in the lead to be the first to solve it. That’s what matters the most. The first to solve it will have a huge lead in market share and licensing. Tesla is making the best moves to win this. So, I’m perfectly content with the progress they’ve made.
Rob is the best, I hope he decides to come back. In regard to Elon leaving Tesla, that would be the equivalent of giving up. I remember Elon being asked why he didn’t quit SpaceX after the third failed launch and he said “I never give up”.
FSD is taking longer than expected to solve. That’s okay. It’s a really hard problem. Fortunately, it’s a hard problem for everybody. The thing to focus on is not how long it takes to solve FSD, but rather, if Tesla retains their lead. The first company to solve this will have a massive jump in market share in this space. It will be too expensive to compete and so everyone else will need to license Tesla tech, locking in multi-year deals. Tesla is still in the lead IMO. Therefore, I’m perfectly content with the progress they’ve made.
I suggest that you imagine what would and would have happened should Tesla have advertised so well that they could not make cars fast enough. A faster pace could harm the quality as well as delay improvements in design as well as delay new products. I personally am content with the pace because it builds.desire and excitement.
One issue is customer satisfaction. Buy a car then next week sell it for less , buy FSD then we cut the price, buy a car then we cut interest rates. It comes out Tesla don’t care about the buyers and they loss there ass on the car . They are protecting themselves not the customer. Tuff issue I get it . I don’t to buy FSD for $99 because probably lower it later . Just like now sell the Cyber truck only the top one to get all the profits out of it before you offer the lower cost ones. I get you have to do this to keep growing the company just people have a hard time with it

The tesla space is unfortunately saturated with weird pseudoprophets and 🤡. Balanced ones like Dave Lee or Rob disappeared, unfortunately.
Imagine that all hosts on MSM was as correct and truthfull like Rob.
Yep, l double that. Good thing is he's not completely gone, he still covers some important Tesla events so I'm counting on him for 8/08.😊😊

A "Rob sighting"! Lol, great to hear from Rob and the Tesla Geeks.

The firing and rehiring of the supercharging team. I know that other organizations do that, this is normal.
Elon's exact quote:

The funny thing is that the touchless charging part feels like the most difficult part at this point.
When did he say this?
Found it. 2016. He was optimistic! That’s okay. It’s good to paint a clear vision. Delaying the next 10x even another 5 years would be fine with me.
