    In comparing the ultra mobile plans to competitors it seems Ultra really only makes sense for the international calls incoming and outgoing. They have unique features like the call me free service for international callers from a list of countries. Etc…

      I agree. It's nice to have the international calling feature. I also think their pay go plan is a good bargain too.

    Does the $20 plan when you finish your data then 2G speeds? Or how it works? I appreciate the help. Thanks! Also can I use an att unlocked phone?

    • @TechThatDoesntByte
      @TechThatDoesntByte  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment! Once you have used up your data, it will be slowed down to 2G speeds for the remainder of the month. You can buy more data or wait until your plan renews. It should work with your att unlocked phone, but it's best to check with Ultra Mobile. If you go to their website (click on phone>bring your own) they'll let you check if your phone is compatible with their service.

    Thanks for this review. I'm looking to port my existing US number to Ultra for the month plan. I live in Mexico and move to a diff country about every 6mths so the international plan is attractive to me. Can you explain the esim card? Since I don't have a US address for them to send me the actual SIM card, I'm thinking the esim would be the way for me to go. But unsure how that work with my exising sim card? Thanks.

      @TechThatDoesntByte  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shari'. Thanks for the comment! eSIM is basically an electronic version of a physical sim card. One of the benefits of an eSIM is that you can stored different numbers from different carriers on one phone without carrying physical sim cards. Most smartphones support eSIM. In order to use eSIM on Ultra Mobile, you'll need to first activate a plan with a regular sim card. Once you have activated your plan & sim card you can reach out to their customer support and they'll help you move from a physical sim card to eSIM.
      I'm not sure you'll be able to activate the service without a US Address.

    Nice video. What plan do you recommend if I travel to Mexico for a day or two and just want to receive calls from the US. like my family is worried and they just want to call to check on me.

      Thanks for the comment! The tricky part is to find a prepaid carrier that offers international roaming. Ultra Mobile allows you purchase international roaming credits, but I just don't think they are worth it for the price. The Visible plus plan will allow you to make and receive calls from US while you are in Mexico. Visible uses the Verizon network in the US. If you want to stick with a prepaid carrier that uses the T-Mobile network, Google Fi is another option because they also have international roaming capabilities. Both Visible and Google Fi are a bit more expensive.
      Another option is to use Wi-Fi calling with a data only eSIM from an eSIM carrier. This method does require an unlocked dual sim phone. There are a lot of eSIM providers that sell data only packages for traveler's that are visiting different countries. There's Airalo, Holafly, Alo, etc.. If you have an unlocked iPhone XR with Wi-Fi calling enabled on your current carrier you can use the eSIM travel data to make and receive phone calls from the US. I believe Google Pixels and some Samsung phone can do this too. However, it does require some setup on your end to make sure the function works.

    I am about to try Ultra Mobile on one of my phones. I am getting a 12-month plan for 250 MB of data since I will not be using the phone much for data. I am more interested in getting the ability to make calls overseas for free. Have you used them for that? If so, how did it go?
    I will put on an eSIM and saw what to expect from your video.
    Thanks.

      Hi George. Thank you for the comment. I did not get the chance to try out their international calling feature. However, I recommend that you consider using their Ultra pay go plan rather than the 12-month plan for 250 mb. It will be much cheaper.

    Could you do a review on H20 Wireless. My friend has them and he uses way more than 60GB on the unlimited plan and has never been throttled.

    I have ultra silver mobile which I got through where I work at Walmart with the taxes I'm paying $33 a month along with some change for 20 GB data I do have to say that the data goes really fast and the speed is very slow. Since the last time I posted a comment on one of your videos I got rid of Tello mobile because I got throttled after 25 GB of data so I went back to Boost Mobile for $27 a month

    • @TechThatDoesntByte

      Thanks for the comment! Now that you're back on Boost Mobile, are you on T-mobile or the AT&T network with Boost?

    • @y2spaceace
      @y2spaceace ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TechThatDoesntByte I'm on the AT&T Boost Mobile the $25 a month plan that they're using to rope people in. They have an app where you can reduce your bill by playing games spinning the wheel xcetera. I will say that the Boost one app that really works well besides something to waste time because it shows you the data that you used and it was user-friendly the setup etc. The only thing I'm doing is using my old LG phone with the $25 Boost Mobile plan I would like to buy a new phone but I don't know if I trust Boost Mobile again I wouldn't want to buy anything too high-priced or anything locked to a carrier. Do you have any recommendations of a cell phone that's compatible with this carrier?

    • @TechThatDoesntByte
      @TechThatDoesntByte  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi y2spaceace Frehley. Thanks for the comment. I also have a boost mobile line and have been using the boost one app as well. The boost one app on Android is much better than its iOS counterpart. I would recommend buying an unlock phone from the manufacturer rather thru a carrier. I prefer the Google Pixel's for Android. Take a look at this list of phones that are compatible with AT&T network. These phones should work on AT&T Boost Mobile as well.

      @@TechThatDoesntByte I agree with you in buying an unlocked phone because I have a Walmart special Moto g power that's locked to straight talk wireless that things are real pain in the behind I just switched over my ultra silver mobile number back to T-Mobile because with these Mickey mouse cheap plans I was not getting the most out of my iPhone even with T-Mobile service I still have to use 4G LTE to get that iPhone 12 running fast enough but what I'm going to do is I'm still going to use my LG cheap phone running with this boost Mobile service until I feel comfortable because I don't want to waste money like I did with this Wal-Mart TracFone

    • @TechThatDoesntByte
      @TechThatDoesntByte  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Actionsamba5623. Thanks for the comment! All of their plans that have unlimited talk & text + any data plan (250MB, 2GB, 6GB, 15GB, Unlimited plans) include free international calling to 80+ countries. The only plan that does not have free international calling is their pay go plan. Do keep in mind that making international calls is free as long as you are in the U.S. If you travel aboard you will probably incur roaming charges. I highly recommend that you check out their list of destinations. Some countries are only free if you are calling a landline number. www.ultramobile.com/international-calling/

      @@sidneyalvarezoficial You might want to consider their PayGo plans. It's $3 per month (before taxes/fees) that includes 100 minutes of talk & text, and 100mb of data. It's the cheapest solution to keep your service activated.

    I used to have an Ultra Mobile account, I purchased my SIM card at the Miami International Airport. Unfortunately the number sold to me, was reused, despite complaining many times. Now someone else bought the number from Ultra, with my name attached to the SUM card. That has caused a major headache with Amazon in particular. Ultra Mobile is unethical. I hope someone from Ultra contact me soon. Otherwise I will make a formal complaint with the FCC

    My phone has been acting wacky, ever since I got ultra, it never happened on my other service, the service staff is not helpful neither, going to drop it soon, wouldn't recommend it to anyone, the plans are cheap, but it's not worth it , you get what you paid for!!!!!
