I have the VG20 - man what a workhorse. To this day perhaps the best bang for buck camera I've ever owned. Still use it to this day as a C cam. Good mention about its ability to perform in the heat - I shot a Memorial Day service for a local VFW when it was 95 in the shade (and we were in the sun). I thought for sure it would over-heat (it was actually hot to the touch), but it never did. Great review of an oldie but goodie!

I honestly had no idea this camcorder existed. Thanks for sharing details. I just switched to Sony E-Mount this past weekend. What an awesome way to consolidate use of a great lens collection.

You haven't shown up in my feed for ages. Nice to see you again. I love my (Panasonic) camcorder. I don't know why they aren't more popular. Film making with a photography camera is doable, but it's like playing soccer with a rugby ball. Much less control. All the best from Yokohama😊

Your approach to keeping things simple and fun made a HUGE difference in my life. We got those epic rains, and my studio flooded. I decided to use it as a reason to do some of the things you have suggested, rather than replace everything right away. Then we got a second flood, which would have been terrible if I had all new equipment. I really have had a lot of fun just exploring and experimenting like I did in high school. The funny thing is, we have yet another tropical storm that appears to be headed straight for us, and I'm not even sweating it.

@@MarkusPix Rockport, Texas. We took a direct hit from Hurricane Harvey, four years ago TODAY. In fact, just about this time I was in San Antonio looking at a satellite image of the eye and saw the shoreline where I live. Seriously. My house did fine, but the house I bought for a studio hasn't done as well with these floods.
I have to admit, I'm about ready to buy some new equipment. (I will pre-order the R3 when it is announced.) But I also have to admit that I had grown stagnant with what I was doing, and these recent months using "lesser" equipment have energized me. That's from you.
You are spot on about photography and having something productive to take your mind off of the world craziness. It and hiking saved my mind during 2020. I was wondering... Could THIS be Kasey's "Perfect Camera"? :-)

You sound very generous and some months ago I saw a video you had made about your life. What a story. I think I bumped into your channel bc of checking out som information about some camera or something. Just like I bumped into photo when a friend of mine gave me a canon 1100d. I haven’t had much success lately so only invested in a lense to it.

Bought one of these after watching one of your videos... GREAT camera... The rolling shutter is pretty bad... But for documentaries it's an awesome camera... I really wish Sony would come out with a newer camera like this with its form factor... Maybe now since the FX30 came out Sony will realize APS-C has a great market... I think it's actually quite ridiculous the hoops people jump through to shoot video with mirrorless /DSLR cameras... LOVE YOUR VIDEOS...

This is a really good little camera for a lucky winner.
You're such an excellent example to others.
You should alternate the prizes - one time give away an item, next time you virtually give away an admirable characteristic. Example, give someone "One week of positive thinking" or "one week of generosity" ... to galvanize your viewers into positive behavior.
This camera looks awesome!!!
Doesn't matter it doesn't has 10 bit color depth, AVCHD does the trick, it is extended gamut, higher color bit depth so it looks like 10 bit, atleast on youtube! Usually has to be selected deep down in a submenu and you also check you editor if it handles AVCHD correctly, but I do professional work on this format and nobody notices!

So, the same drill. Only within the USA. I just got an iPhone 12 mini as my main camera. Got to make do for now plus I still need to learn sooo many things. The more I learn, the less I feel know.
Wow Markus very nice product. This would be perfect to photograph the moon or video record it with the addition of a longer lens. This would be a nice gift to receive. Regardless of who you choose thanks for being so generous.

Imagine the specs of an Sony FX30 this body. It will be the perfect camera for 99% of the PROs. But Sony and the youtube star community don't want to be like that. They prefer to complicate our lifes. If you want something like this you have to jump to the cinema line witch is very expensive. And the problem is that no other camera companies wants to do cameras like this one. It's a shame...
I love my VG30 (found on Ebay for a fairly good price) but the most inconvenience is that you cannot mount large diameter lenses. Like those mirror lenses or my Lensbaby Trio 28.
