    Thank you so much for this video Nick. I have been playing for about 2 years and ive been so confused about the 5 positions of the pentatonic scales . I didnt know whether to start from the low e string on every scale or to start on the root note. I didnt know what fret to start on . I just watched your video and you just cleared up everything ive been trying to get to click in my tiny brain for 2 years . Knowing that the scales start in A C D E and G all on the 6th string and knowing im looking for the a root on every scale really helps . Every time i look this up online the positions seem to start all over the place . I also didnt realize which scales were used the most and how most leads were played only on the 1st 3 strings on most . I keep trying to play the scales and they dont sound all that good playing them all the way through but now i can try the lower 3 strings to get a better lead sound . I dont really have much creativity so playing guitar is harder for me to try to mix up the notes to make it sound good to use for a jam track . You explained it SO good that even i FINALLY understood what is going on and i thank you very much . Do you do other training videos or teaching ? You teach really well and make it easily understandable . I bought an epiphone les paul custom from sweetwater and love it and just bought a sabra cadabra pedal and that pedal really makes me want to play more so i just bought the EVH mxr phaser 90 pedal . My next guitar is going to be a PRS CE 24 as soon as i save enough . I will only buy anything from sweetwater . You guys are fantastic for sales , support and now it looks like your teaching . Thanks again Nick and now i will be spending the day practicing the 5 scales and trying out the lead parts .
    P.S . I HATE TETRIS . LOL

    Thank you! I’ve never heard someone stress “revolving around and resolving to the root” until now!

    Sweetwater, please allow/ask Nick back for more instructional videos. He's seriously great at making things that previously seem like black magic now look like a piece of cake (after some practice of course)
    To Nick, thank you sir for your lessons so far on Pentatonic scales! I've yet to begin practice on them, but by tomorrow's session, I know exactly what to practice & thanks Sweetwater for providing the tabs & links!

    Thanks for the clear and fun lesson, Nick. That was a lot of content, with no BS added. Not the case with most TH-cam videos. Well done.

    Thank you Nick, I got a lot out of this video. With the tabs, jam tracks, diagrams, and root notes; there is a lot of information packed into this. Your teaching style and manner are quite pleasant. I will have to check out more Sweetwater videos, and I guess that I should thank them as well. Please pass it on.

    What I like and ended up doing when practicing scales is to hit pairs of notes together, it kinda gives gives the brain another hook to recognize the shapes. and makes for good sunds to.

    2 questions... These same finger positions work for ANY of the other Minor keys? The actual notes would be different obviously, but would the exact same fingerings be the same?
    For example in E minor, the first position could not still be (141313131414), as the E is Open & not on a (1), so I don't know how fingerings/tabs would work in this case...
    Does Sweetwater / Nick have videos like this, but for the Major Pentatonic scales?

    Some of them I need five fingers for. I knew a guy who had five fingers in middle school, but actually the fifth finger was sorta just hanging there on the end like a dead french fry.

    Is the tab shown at 3:17 backwards to the way it's shown in about 99% of all books, magazines and online videos? I think so. Maybe a bad choice?!

    • @vicvaughan4629
      @vicvaughan4629 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tab is correct. It's oriented as if you're looking at your fretboard in front of you with headstock to your right side. If you'll notice in the image, the nut and string labels are on the right. Hope this gives you some clarification.
