Thanks for watching. They are not cheap doors, but then being passive rated and triple glazed is going to bring a significant cost. The key thing for us is how much warmer the hallway is now.
That is a cool letterbox, he gets rid of one problem of not having another hole in the door, and creates another problem when you need to get your mail when it’s freezing ice cold outside snowy and you’re not dressed
A little bit off-topic John, but how do you rate the HTI-A1, I've been looking at FLIR-C2 and just spotted you've got an HTI. Great front door by the way. I bricked up my front door (it was next to my back door bizarrely) and put an external letterbox on. Boy did that stop a draught once we didnt have a gaping hole in the wall.
The camera is good Robin, I preferred it to something that you attached to your phone, seemed a little more robust. To be fair I've not compared the output with any other type of thermal camera, but it seems very good in terms of on-screen info and ability to save the images. They are not massive files from the camera, 320 pixels on the longest dimension. Frontdoors can let in a lots of draughts for sure.
Lovely door. The only thing I would be a little concerned with is the key being used to pull back the latch. Over the years of use I wonder if the key would weaken and potentially snap as you unlock the door and open the catch?
That is an awful lot of money for that door , i fit Spitfire doors , best door on the market , 80 mm thick door sash , 2 people would struggle to carry the design you had , should have been no more than 5K
@@davidmiller7771good hear you can price doors remotely without the full facts, specs and information. FYI: 2 people did struggle to carry the design I had without the side glass installed. I'm sure Spitfire doors are good, they are however not the only high quality Passive House doors on the market. BTW it's not a competition.
Sorry this is an off topic question but my powerwall was fully charged by 8am so i plugged the car in to the zappi on eco++ and its drawing from the powerwall . ive had a look at the setting but cant see how to change it . many thanks. Edit its now charging the powerwall and the car
If you don’t have enough solar to cover the Zappi then it will pull from the Powerwall. Zappi is unable to differentiate between solar / battery. It sees it as non grid energy.
@@rodden1953 that’s the priority order, Powerwall then car provided the Tesla CT clamp is first in line from the meter tails. Put the myenergi ct clamp before the Powerwall and you will change the order.
Fair play John, if you're going to get a new door, make it a decent one! Genuinely quite jealous.
Will wait to see the thermal imaging shots as and when for the new door.
Great video as usual Very nice looking door but how much ? Not cheap bet!

Leave all mail until March time! 😂

John I am budgetting. I have a similar sized front door opening. Can you tell me the approx cost of the operation?
Hi David, our door with installation was £7,000.
@@johntisbury thanks John...thats OK!

The key is super thick, twice that of a normal key thickness. I don’t think it will fatigue over the years.
@@johntisbury That's really good to know, thank you.
Really nice 👍 So price? £2.5k?
Thanks. Prices range from £1,500 - £10,000. Ours was in the upper quartile.
Wow… I was hoping it wasn’t that much, but you get what you pay for 👍
