The front two emplacements of the Destroyer Lance are actually 140mm machine guns, while the two circular imprints on the sides are thrusters for better control.
One small correction, front thrusters are, in fact, cannons. Both Kimaris lances, as well as the Purple Schwalbe, are shot lances. The side nozzles are thrusters, however.
The legs are supposed to look like a centaur. The fuel line probably runs through the sub-leg and pulls from tanks in the thighs, if I had to guess. The fin on the tail skirt is a control surface, like a rudder or some such. It's probably meant to also resemble a tail to finish the centaur look. When it's hovering in place it looks a bit odd but as it's moving around in the show it has a definite centaur feel.
Just randomly searched for the Kimaris and got a wiki page for a demon of the same name known for riding a black horse(possible inspiration for the hover mode). And being able turning a man into a warrior like himself. The interesting part of that is looking at Gaelio's relationship with Ein developing a friend/mentor role as he first did with Crank. I might be looking to much into it but if these influences are solid that's pretty damn cool to see Gaelio pilot the Kimaris.
While watching the show I didn't really notice the difference between the Kimaris and the Kimaris Trooper, so when it did transform I just assumed that was some capability it always had and we just hadn't seen it before because it hadn't needed to break it out.
Considering how the Gundam Frames are supposedly highly customisable, it isn't surprising that Kimaris got a full armor replacement like, say, the Gusion Rebake. Besides, Gaelio's got the resources to have new armor made for the Kimaris, unlike the Rebake, which just used modified spare Barbatos parts.

They should make 1/100 version of this together with original Kimaris minus the flight unit in one set like Gusion/Gusion Rebake.That sub arms is articulated very interesting.

+BOo MonSter Yes, inner frames are usually found in PG, MG, and RG. The inner frame of the HG Barbatos is a very rare exception of an HG having an almost complete inner frame. I recommend you to check out dalong.net for more reference images and information.

When the Kimaris Trooper first appeared trying to save Carta, it fired shots at Barbatos while pointing the Destroyer lance. It has 4 holes on the Destroyer lance, there are 2 facing forward. Those are the guns similar to the first Kimaris lance.
I came into this review not liking the design, still don't. But, after seeing it I'm thinking this would be a good start for a knight gundam build. Also wondering if we'll get this 1/100?
my concern is the lance in 1/100. either they would have to limit joint mobility, or make the lance smaller. it's not the heaviest bit of plastic but enough to cause some bad sagging. I haven't build the kimaris yet, but my barbatos 6th has problems holding up the wrenchmace. And I'm guessing the inner frame design is similar.
+fuzzyhawk down Hmm yes I suppose so. But like with the HG, I imagine the sub-arm will be quite useful to help with that. Of course you have to think about sagging occurring also at the torso, but I think because the sub-arm is below the torso joint it would be ok. One more thing I would wonder about a 1/100 is the inclusion of a base (or more likely, lack of one)
For the base, I would assume custom action base attachment and that's the best we get. Lets hope with the extra size and cost, we get a little more detail out of the sub arms as well. But you're right, the extra attachment point on the hip/waste should give the lance the extra support need to offset the bulk. My new concern would be the weight and balance issues of the lance. Maybe needing to be in hover mode or on action base to get stable platform for posing.

I tried making it hold the lance in one hand, and after some time the frame piece responsible for the shoulder and biceps joint succumbed to the weight and snapped. Have you encountered this problem with any heavy-weapon kits? Could it be a problem in Bandai's design?
The monologues in wing were either fantastic or terrible depending on the content rewatching Wing made me realize how much I didn't understand as a kid. But I totally agree about the amount of action, I appreciate the show for different reasons now.
