  • Hello beauties! Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.
    I wanted to share with you guys how I’ve been staying occupied during this time by doing my own nails. Obviously nail salons are closed so we have to stay cute on our own. In todays video I will be using the apes gel x dupe method to apply my nails. I will link the original brand as well as other brands with similar techniques down belolw. But if you’re like me and staying on a budget you can just buy the things you need if you already do your nails at home. Stay safe and enjoy the video!

    In my opinion I find that the " BTArtBox " on Amazon are more sturdy press on nails, they have the perfect coffin shape so literally no need for shaping, they come in a variety of different nail shapes in that brand, also what I loved about BTArtBox was that the nails have the pefect Apex which gives you a more natural acrylic look unlike most press on nails which are more often straight and flat.

    • @Turnersbeauty
      @Turnersbeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Thank you!! And thank you for watching. I didn’t include the butterfly in the video because my angle was really off. But my little trick with nail decals like that or loose glitter is to put it under the clear nail. I apply a nice layer of gel top coat and place the butterflies where I want them. Once I’m happy I cure for 30 seconds add another layer of top coat to seal the design and apply the nail. I hope that helps. If I don’t do it that way then I will put the butterflies on top and encapsulate it with the builder gel. 💕

    • @Turnersbeauty
      @Turnersbeauty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi, the reason you’re getting air bubbles is because there isn’t enough product. The best way to apply the nail is started from the cuticle and slowly press down until there are no bubbles. Be sure you are properly prepping your natural nails and if the thumb is the right size. If the thumb is too small it will pop right off.

    This video is so helpful! I just have a small problem. My nails are a bit small and it seem like there is a gap when I put the full cover fake nail on them. How do fill in those gaps so it won’t pop off?

    • @Turnersbeauty
      @Turnersbeauty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi lovely, first off thank you for watching. I’m not sure what you mean by your nails are a bit small. But if you’re still experiencing a gap you’re not putting enough gel inside the nail. If there isn’t enough gel the nails are prone to pop off. Also I’d recommend applying the nail starting at the cuticle and slowly press down till the air bubbles are out. Hope this helps.

      So if your asking to put it under the entire fake nail you can just make sure once you cure it on you go back in with a no wipe topcoat because it will be sticky underneath. That way you ad strength and help with preventing a bulky nail on top. If this doesn’t answer your question please let me know so I can provide the right answer. Thanks for watching 🥰

  • @TheCRYSTALLURE
    @TheCRYSTALLURE 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m curious if we really need a base layer. I was doing this method with a base, then my builder gel from yayoge and some of the nails were not staying. Almost as if I were using dual forms. And I couldn’t tell if it was cause of the base or the full cover nails themselves. But when I added more gel and cured again it stayed.
    So I really want to see someone just use their builder gel as the adhesive. No base prior to the “adhesive” layer. I damn near destroyed my nails trying to fix this trial & error. My nails were so nice before, & now they hurt like they used to with acrylic & that’s the whole reason I like gel better. 😭😭😭

    • @Turnersbeauty
      @Turnersbeauty  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it all depends on the product your using. My builder gel in a bottle can be used as my base and adhesive layer. So I don’t have to do a base with this product but I do just to be safe. Also when applying the builder gel you may have to apply more than you think you do. The gel nails normally have a deeper apex and curve to the nail which makes room for you to add a good amount of builder gel, if there isn’t enough gel the nail won’t adhere properly. Also becareful because some gels do cause heat spikes which can cause your nails to hurt or the full gel tips are to curved for your nail bed which can also make your nails hurt. I’ve experienced that with the apres sculpted coffin tips.

    • @TheCRYSTALLURE
      @TheCRYSTALLURE 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Turnersbeauty This is my first time using yayoge builder gel. And I didn’t realize on the packaging it said it took 3 mins to cure! Which could be at fault as well.
      I was adding a good amount of gel. I do gel over acrylic so the amount I used wasn’t the issue. And I’m used to heat spikes, didn’t have that issue w/ this yayoge gel even when I used a lot of gel. I added even more gel than I would’ve though because what I put started curing but not fully since it takes 3 mins, so it wasn’t curing the nail on if that makes sense? Like the gel was curing before it could cure the nail on.
      And these are just some AliExpress tips so that could be why but still. I’ve seen others with similar brands but they don’t show the trial & errors so that’s where my issue is. 😭

      I've been doing my nails with what's now known as the "Apres method" for years! I also use this on some of my clients. If using bottled builder gel to adhere you do NOT need to use a base coat. The important thing is nail prep. The builder gel will do a great job of adhering on its own. You can either do builder gel or base coat both work great. Acrylic powder as well. I actually use that aimeili brand and it stays on until I take them off. You can also add a layer of base coat underneath the nail for extra strength followed by top coat. I hope this helps

    • @TheCRYSTALLURE
      @TheCRYSTALLURE 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raquel Barnes Yea that’s what I was thinking I’d do. Put enough for a flash cure just to cure the nail on, and then do a full cure once the nails are secured on with no need for holding it in place.

    • @TheCRYSTALLURE
      @TheCRYSTALLURE 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raquel Barnes (in response to your 2nd comment) Okay that makes sense. I’m going to try a set doing it w/ no base layer. Idk I’ve just never been a fan of using a base, from a base & top coat set, to then place builder gel on top. I feel like the base layer defeats the purpose of adding the builder gel cause it can’t penetrate how I feel it should. It’s just something I’ve been debating on. But trial & errors is the only way I can find out.

    • @Turnersbeauty
      @Turnersbeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      heather20467 Hi Heather! Thank you so much for watching. You can put polygel on top to add more strength if you feel comfortable doing so. But you can also put on a layer or two of the builder gel instead. But honestly they don’t need extra strength, but of course do as you like! 💕💕

    How do U remove these nails wen U wana do a new set?

    • @Turnersbeauty
      @Turnersbeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Teara Lee so I remove them two ways. The first way I heat up a bowl of water. And then a smaller bowl filled with acetone into the bigger one and put one hand in with a cloth over the hand and bowl to keep the heat in. Doing this speeds up the process. After 15 mins I scrape off as much as I can. And then soak for another 15 mins if necessary. The second way is taking a piece of aluminum foil and a cotton ball dipped in acetone and wrapping it around the finger and soak for 15 mins.
      Ps I always file down as much as possible before any soaking. Helps to remove bulk and layers on the nail and speeds up the process.

      Turnersbeauty so if I wana make the nail really strong how many base coats do I add?

    • @Turnersbeauty
      @Turnersbeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Teara Lee well I use the markartt coffin tips and they are really sturdy on their own. I don’t add any extra layers of base coat or top coat to make them stronger. I use one layer base coat 2 coats of color and 1 layer top coat. I never have any issues with them and I work retail. If you wanted to make them stronger because the tips you’re using is weak or soft I would suggest to use the builder gel on top and use that to create acrylic like strength. I would suggest two layers then wipe off the sticky residue with alcohol and file and shape as necessary.

      Yessica Mendoza Hi beautiful! Thanks so much for watching 💕. You do want to cure after each coat and yes you can. Depending on what kind of lamp will depend on how long you cure for. My lamp came in a polygel kit from amazon so you’re fine. I cure from 30/60 seconds

    You did an amazing job on your nails and I can relate because my nail beds are wide AF, it makes me so mad sometimes lol. How did you get the butterflies onto your nails?

    • @Turnersbeauty
      @Turnersbeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tynaya F thank you so much and thanks for watching. I didn’t include the butterfly nail because I didn’t like how it came out. But to achieve the nail you want to put top coat underneath the nail and then put whatever you want to encapsulate. So you can do glitter or the butterflies. Then cure that and once you cure go ahead and add more top coat to make sure everything is sealed.
