    -------------------------------------Key Takeaways---------------------------------
    06:27 The Power of Epigenetics: We have shifted from a focus on metabolism and biochemical individuality, to epigenetics - your lifestyle, habits, and choices regarding what you eat, drink, think and do determines 92% of your lifetime health that is not genetic. A small fraction of our health is determined by our DNA and our genes.
    08:30 Effects of Toxins: It is your internal adaptations that determine the effect that toxins will have on you. For example: toxic metals can be a serious problem, but if you have enough healthy metallothionein to take up and detoxify those metals, they do not stay in your body. If you have switched from this elective/protective mode into survival mode, then your body cannot devote the energy to detoxification in order to deal with the immediate crisis.
    10:41: How Does Metallothionein Work? Metallothionein is a protein made of two amino acids: glycine and the sulfur-containing cysteine. Metallothionein is a magnesium/zinc rich protein that gives up its magnesium or zinc and irreversibly binds to any of the toxic metals, like mercury or lead. They are then excreted from the body through sweat, stool, or urine. Metallothionein is everywhere in our bodies and is measureable. When we shift to survival mode, toxic metals begin to accumulate. The same happens with persisting pollutants, volatile chemicals and the risk of exposure to radioisotopes or other environmental pollutants.
    12:44 How to Upregulate Metallothionein: A diet rich in sulfur foods, you can build metallothionein, if you stay alkaline and you have a balanced nutrient intake, appropriate for your lifestyle. Metallothionein is very important to our long term health and survival. Nutrition begins in the kitchen, in the cooking pot. It begins with whole foods that you consume in as whole a form as possible. GGOBE is an acronym he uses for top sulfur-rich foods. It stands for garlic, ginger, onions, brassica sprouts and eggs.
    16:55 Whey Protein: Whey protein is high in cysteine.
    19:22 Metallothionein and Glutathione: The purpose of both of these is to protect us. Glutathione is synthesized inside of cells. Oral glutathione may help the gut and the mucosal barrier, but it does not go to your body’s cells. Glutathione is an important intermediary in keeping oxidative stress low. If we give the precursor amino acids for glutathione production in cells, GGOBE foods or supplements that contain cysteine, methionine and we have a healthy alkaline cell with mitochondria are healthy, we can make glutathione.
    21:58 Mitochondria and Cell Health:The cell protects the mitochondria and the mitochondria give the cell ATP. The mitochondria also detoxify things like pesticides, persisting pollutants and hormone disruptors. These must be detoxified inside the mitochondria. If the mitochondria are overwhelmed, then the energetics of the cell slows and uses up Coenzyme Q10, which is the electron shuttle, impairing things further. About 66% of our detoxification happens in the liver. Maybe 15% of detox happens in the kidneys. A small percentage takes place in the spleen. Some also happens in our skin. Every muscle, every cell of the body does some detoxification and utilizes mitochondria to do that.
    24:50 Ascorbate and Raising Glutathione: Unlike vitamins, ascorbate does not activate catalysts. It is used directly. It is a sub straight. It is used up in the course of detoxifying, energizing and protecting the other antioxidants in the body. Ascorbate is the correct name. It is the mother protective molecule for all other protective molecules in the body. The best way to raise glutathione in the cell is to give ascorbate. The amount of glutathione that you generate is proportional to having enough ascorbate.
    27:42 C-Cleanse: Quickly saturate the body with mineral ascorbate, so you have calcium, magnesium, potassium and zinc minerals along with the ascorbate. Toxins and fluid are flushed out of the body. When you have taken in the amount of ascorbate you need to protect from oxidative stress, you are also maximizing the glutathione inside the cells.

    You do an extraodinarily good job at interviewing your subjects. Never floundering, right on point with them, asking good questions, engaging, quick, focused. I've only seen a about three so far, but I wish some professional journalists would watch you and learn how it SHOULD be done! Bravo! So glad I found your informative channel. You're a breath of fresh air from the stammering idiots who attempt to interview really knowledgeable people and completely blow the opportunity by being disinterested, unprepared, and disingenuous, which always leaves me feeling like, "well, I'll never get those 45 minutes back, thaaanks." Really good job in my humble opinion. More, please.

    When I was diagnose with stage four bone marrow cancer, I soon after had an intuition to use plenty ginger, both fresh, and ginger powder in my morning smoothie.
    I also ferment garlic in honey. Anyway, I am at 75 years young, and nine years in remission, and in excellent health. I have no need for any pharmaceutical junk medicine. If I did I
    would find a natural way to cure myself.

    This sounds very complicated, I went through all the various diets, strict vegan for 13 years. Macrobiotic, plant based, omnivore, spent tens of thousands of dollars on various supplements, whey, spirulina, multivitamins, juicing, Made my own sauerkraut did the raw Hippocrates thing for years. Stayed away from red meat for 30 years. Ate garlic and onions til I reeked. Nothing but slow weight gain, a few pounds a year, grey hair started at 23 years old, my teeth started to decay, cavities, and grinding my teeth at night. constipation even though pumping the raw vegetable's, fruit, kraut ect. I am 64 now and went to nothing but animal foods, mainly grass fed meats and organs, bone broth, some raw milk cheeses wild caught fish.. Lost 25 pounds of body fat, gained unbelievable strength, I feel like great mentally, energy is way up. Not concerned about bowel movements. Gas and bloating gone. I feel my colon is starting to heal after all the fiber The only supplements I take now D3, Selenium, Iodine, MSM. cod liver oil.

    One thing that Dr. Jaffe left out is that it takes SEVEN zinc atoms for every metallothionein protein created. If you’re heavy metal toxic, then you’ll need at least seven zinc atoms per single heavy metal atom that you wish to remove.

    • @joebobmarley2854
      @joebobmarley2854 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's fascinating! I'm heavy metal toxic with high levels of zinc 🤔

    • @wyattlavigne
      @wyattlavigne 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@joebobmarley2854 you’ll have to find out if the zinc you are toxic with is bioavailable or biounavailable. If you’re a welder or work around/with galvanized materials, you might be loaded with zinc oxide which I infer from some studies that the body doesn’t really use (it doesn’t really affect the rate of hair growth compared to other better forms of zinc). Tons of sunscreen (the chalky white kind) and fortified foods are also other sources of zinc oxide.
      From my perspective, (I had Alzheimer’s, cured myself and am now getting younger), the fastest way to roughly assess you zinc bioavailability status would be to preform an oral zinc sulphate test. If it immediately tastes very bitter, then you have sufficient bioavailable zinc. If instead you taste water, you’re likely loaded with useless biounavailable zinc.

    There are WAY more foods high in sulfer than what he's mentioned. All veggies in the allium genus: including but not limited to onion, garlic, chives, shallots, leeks. Also all veggies in the brassicacaea family aka cruciferous veggies including broccoli, cauliflower, collards, cabbage, bok choy, turnip, radish, etc.. Also, most meats have sulfur. Especially crab, chicken, lobster, organ meats, and others. Not sure why his list is so small.

    What about people who have mutations that make sulfur and ammonia build up in their system? I have three double mutations that do this to me and at one point I had so much ammonia in my system that I was going into liver failure from it. Lowered my levels with an infrared sauna but still a huge issue. I avoid eggs, onions, garlic like the plague.

      Hi Laura. I had this issue a few years ago and tried so many food types in search of a cure, took me many years to get well. Don't worry about eggs, onions, garlic etc. Get yourself a bag of Ascorbic Acid and a bag of MSM and take generous quantities dissolved in orange juice...eat greens...reduce animal proteins (or quit)...do not eat dairy. Wish you well : )

    Dr. Russell Jaffe you are brilliant! Excellent interview wonderfully placed questions designed perfectly to inform us. Thank you and I hope you invite him back now in 2022.
    Curious if Glutathione is effective in patch form and does it methylate properly? The military has used these patches for soldiers in submarines for long periods of time including using stem cells in patches.
    Very valuable info regarding homocystine testing.
    Whats the best way to reach Dr. Jaffe?

    Can native whey come from fermenting raw cow or goat milk; in essence making kefir and separating whey out by straining by gravity over night.

    The Ginger Root Lemons and Limes and red peppers to taste with some crushed garlic glove can be blended together with some water or coconut water. Add a date or 2 with a finger size fruit of Thai Tamarind Fruit to mix all together in our blender. Pour the mixture into a large glass mason jar and add more water to the top. Your water must be filtered or boiled rainwater that we use. Place a glass lid or saucer over the mouth of the mason jar . Then place this room-temperature tea outside in your garden for some SUN exposure for a day or two. Then strain the liquid through a straining basket into another jar and refrigerate your probiotic solar herbal tea for Detox and Cleansing a therapy that the Garden Villa Phuket Thai Nature Retreat does on a regular basis. This is a good all-around tonic for your health.

    So Ascorbate is active ingredient in Ascorbic Acid that needs to be reduced with catalyzers to mineral salts to act directly?
    Are mineral salts of ascorbate called 'buffered vitamin C' better version of Vitamin C? Why pure ascorbate is not a thing?
    I heard that people mix baking soda with l-ascorbic acid to reduce acidity and drink it, but that is a lot of sodium!
    Is there a better way to cheaply make mineral salts ascorbate that contains all the proper necessary minerals?
    In my exerience I found that ascorbic acid + magnesium + B6 + taurine + eggs helps a lot with hangover, especially taken during drinking.
