Thank you. TL;DW: 1. turn off irrigation water line. 2. turn on irrigation system and run through each station for about a minute (to relieve water pressure/drain lines). 3. turn off irrigation system.
Probably in areas where you get hard freezes, but in much of the U.S. this is probably enough. I live in Washington and we never blow the lines out, and I've never had freeze damage, even when it gets cold, which is maybe briefly into the 20's here.

Some systems have automatic / gravity drip draining which won't require a blowout
