I'd love to see you do a shootout with this and the Fryette Power Load IR. Fryette makes damn good stuff so it'd be cool to see/hear these two against each other.
Been playing modellers and such for a long time now. The itch to get a tube amp again though has been nagging me so I am heavily researching IR capable loadboxes so I can use it at reasonable volumes and whatnot. This thing looks insane and makes me curious about running not just a potential tube amp into it so I can enjoy it with IRs into my FR12, but also my helix preamp models to experiment with new power sim options you would not usually be able to do. Very neat box and seems like the better option to go for these days with its feature set.
I was actually hoping that the new iteration would handle amps with higher wattage 150-200watts, there are those out there too. I could care less if the unit has to be bigger, I just want a good reactive load box that can handle those amps.
Did you get a new camera or something? Or lighting? You look super crisp in this one! :D As for the R7 loadbox, the only thing I don't like is that the attenuator doesn't go to 0. That will lead to plugging/unplugging cables whenever you want to switch between silent playing and not.
This has wonderful features! An OX box with the needed features added! Can you do a feature comparison video? Don’t need to do playthrough necessarily. Thanks for the good news!
Any thoughts between this and the St. Rock React IR:II ? I can't really decide between the two - I like the 500 ms IR support on this unit, but the variable attenuation on the St. Rock would also be nice, although I'm not sure which attenuator is better between the two units either
Can you do a quick test of a live cab db difference between a setting such as let’s say 110db from the live cab compared to the setting to half power and what db that lands on through a live cab? As well as a tone description difference? I’m considering a device like this but also the fryette power station with an or loader is what I’m considering since I prefer my cab sound over an ir about 90% of the time I play. Example I play at 115db with my cab but with my captor x set to -40db setting I’m at 85ish db in the room but not quite the same tone in a way. I know moving air is a thing but the tone difference is what I’m after. Love your videos John and sorry for the novel but looking for more input on the attenuation feature with db readings!
R7’s website is a bit wonky with prices. I know you have to download the price list, but is this one still at the $799 price point? I noticed the price list is as of September 2024 so I’m not sure if that’s before the new evo came out or not
Great video! How does this compare to the Two Notes Torpedo Reload or OX Box? I have played both and find the feel a bit different than running the amp straight into the cab. Running into the cab feels more responsive and tighter feeling than the two units. Does the Amp Central give you that more natural feel like a cabinet?
Very interesting, I have the Fryette Power Station and it looks very similar. Probably main differences are the IR loader and not a flexible attenuator. Can the Amp Central run a preamp into a cab too?
I’m considering the power station and a designated if loader separate mainly because I like my cab/room sound. I’d like to see a difference with the half power setting in a comparison.
Really cool device this - studio rats did a video where the applied the pa simulation to the loaded amplifier signal but then does mean the load part of the box isn't that great?
@SonicDriveStudio I may look into it - I really love my fryette powerstation in self attenuation mode with Fractal fm3 for IR's and post effects but would like to use 500ms ir's What is the headphone output like - noisy?
I own a few amps. Can this be integrated with other non- high-gain amps? IE: FENDER Bassman; Deluxe Reverb; Laney Lion Heart 20; Rivera Venus6; then I also have my VHT (FRYETTE) PIT BULL50/CL. So, is it possible, and what's it cost??? ¡¥¡

I checked this load box like week ago.. I am definitely going to order it..Sound great, and is exactly what I need
Sounds awesome! Nice riffage!
My dude.... The image quality of your videos is through the roof!
Thank you so much man!

Great device! Sounds fantastic!
I'm definitely switching to this from my ox box
Is this available in the U.S.?

Killer riffs
Thank you!!!😊

I can see your guitar stands through that reflection :)

Yeah, new cameras and lenses

Oh Yeah! 🙌
Can’t find where to buy this thing 😢

My favorite reactive loadbox/reampbox is the two notes reload.
Hi jon, just wondering can the evo work as a poweramp for a preamp pedal/modeller to real guitar cab, cheers
Adam
Can it also record a DI along with the amp tone?

For me, the power switch is really what's missing the most from the V1. I still prefer the V1 shape !

It's the most natural sounding one that I've tried

The load portion is amazing but you can use it as an extra flavor, why not?
@SonicDriveStudio I may look into it - I really love my fryette powerstation in self attenuation mode with Fractal fm3 for IR's and post effects but would like to use 500ms ir's

You should compare their old unit with the new one
can you teach us how to double track? I wanted to get a great stereo effect without phase issues
play it twice and pan

It works with any type of tube amplifier!
Sounded like you said you used a “ HYPE ASS FILTER “ then it registered…. High pass filter.
Hype ass is a great name for a band. Or at least for a song.
