I bloody love the og Xbox (Xbox The 1st™ as I call it). It's a fantastic console of that gen. Sucks it does *not* get the love it so rightfully deserves!
The console is amazing but had terrible lasers and the time system that would explode in the console, also it didn’t have a lot of exclusives but it did have wrestlemania 21 which is one of my favorite wrestling games of all time. Still such an amazing console though the splashscreen and dashboard are so iconic.
OG xbox is definitely underrated, It's consistently some of the cheapest stuff out there, especially if the game is multi-plat, and considering the multi-plat games run the best on the xbox... I'm pretty sure it's just a lack of nostalgia thing as far as the bad sales (and b/c availability), but the console provides some of the best value for collectors.
I think OG Xbox doesn't sell cause of the easy ability of softmodding that console and being able to just download all the games you want. Same with Wii games too.
i think theres a LOT of people that get nostagic for the xbox but for sumreason it seems like the prices usually for hardware is just above the margin of an average consumer. i also feel that people dont come into contact with og xboxs now a days so theres never really a reason for people to buy one unless its a console your very specifically hunting for. i also feel that its like a pipeline era kinda thing, i think as people get more into a collection they will have many more reasons to be interested and want to actually purchase and collect orginal xbox titles and hardware. i think real geeks really recognize the xbox as it was truly an interesting feat of the technology very similar to the genesis for its era i feel. may not be as relevant but its a market i believe will only get bigger as time goes on; so hold on to those xbox there as good as gold imo
There are soooo many things I wish I had kept over the years. There is 1 specific item that I later realized probably would have had some value in today's market. When I worked at Fry's Electronics back in the day, they let me keep a few promotional items. 1 of them was a HUGE banner for Metal Gear Solid 2. This thing was literally like 4ft by 20ft, and it was a thick vinyl material... It took so much effort moving that thing around and protecting it from age, dust, discoloration was difficult given the type of item it was and its size. I sold it at a garage sale a little over 10 years ago, can't even remember what I got for it but definitely not anywhere what I could have gotten from a collector today!
As a mega SNES StarFox fan I'm amazed by that standee (obviously I also love StarFox 64, but StarFox on SNES for me is very important and extremely nostalgic).
You really need to come down here to southern Alabama. I know some Retro places that will leave you speechless. Play and Talk if the perfect Retro game store for the gulf coast and Covert Comics and Collectibles is just as awesome
I'm glad you mentioned you liked their van the delica is sick. OG xbox is probably my favorite since it was the thing when I was a kid, especially the see through green halo edition one. The green xbox game cases and the platinum hits ones are just nostalgiac to me
Rick, I’ve got an idea for your store. Have someone make decals for your fan blades, so when they get up to speed there is an image you can see on the rotating fan blades. You’re welcome.
I've had a grudge against Star Fox since it debuted since it replaced Mario as the Nintendo Power mini comic. 30 years later and I still hold those ill feelings. I think I have played it for a few mins once on emulation.
Only true Nostalgia kings would know when he said "lookin around, lookin around" what he was quoting. Its from a 90s computer film. The character that said those words in that tone of voice was Joey. Anyone know what film he was hinting at?
DUDE I was just at Ft. Walton beach for 5 days and I searched video games on Apple Maps and got nothing but Redbox and Walmart. Wish I could’ve spotted this from the main strip! 🤦♂️
You found many rare Nintendo games but the best find was 2:48 Sonic looking like the coolest thing alive. Those NES televisions would make for a great collectors piece. 8:11 Coco Bandicoot looks possessed in that magazine I love those classic gaming magazine covers they always look amazing and the classic PlayStation 1 Frogger games are also fun. I love when game stores work with gamers and give them great deals or are realistic with prices or be generous. That was funny that you got that Star Fox standee hopefully you can fix it up and make it work. Cool video. ^_^
I love your game selection. It is awesome. Only prob is that u have so much inventory that u can't bring in or buy games from your customers. Win some, lose some.
Was in my late teens when XBOX debuted, remember playing the ish out of Morrowind and the OG Halo. My friends dad, Gary (RIP) used to rage over not finding the rocket launcher, ahh good times.
I REMEMBER THOSE TURTLE BOOKS, I had those when I was a kid. Ive had so many of the things you tend to ask about. Man, If I knew then what I know now... LOL
I went to that store when I was on vacation a few years ago. Great store I just didn’t find anything I was super interested in at the time. But if I’m ever in the area I’ll definitely be stopping by again!
I think a lot of us og Xbox fans were older when it came out and our peak need for nostalgia hit a while ago. I can see Xbox 360 having a much bigger draw as a lot of younger kids grew up with one.
Collecting for original Xbox is the best. Games are rare, affordable, and fun to play. Plus tons of Xbox/Microsoft memorabilia that is also fun to hunt for.
Dude the og Xbox made me a gamer I had a megadrive, an N64 &, a PSone and played them a bit but it never really maded me fall in love with gaming but, when I turned on the og Xbox I became a gamer.
I went from N64 to OG Xbox to Wii...some of my friends had GameCube or PS2. I remember playing N64 and OG Xbox most! Going to try and buy all those Xbox games I used to play
My sister had that tv with a Nintendo built into it 30 years ago. Who would have know it would have been so collectible. I remember playing roger rabbit in my niece’s bedroom on it.
just posted 21 minutes ago? I'm pretty sure I saw one of your videos a long time ago when you finished your nintendo collection. are you starting another one?
Im sure theres a local store where you live that can do the Starfox display. Even do more than one and cheap. You can even ask to make a display like that but with other games.
the best way to start your retro collection is make a store people will bring in rare stuff and you can give them 60-70% of what its worth under the assumption your selling it again but no that copy of silent hill is staying in my room till i die
The original XBOX is home to some great Sega exclusives like JetSetRadio Future, OutRun 2, OutRun 2000, House of the Dead 3, Otogi 1/2, and Gunvalkyrie. It didn't always get the sequels that the PS2 had, but there are games that ran better/looked better on Xbox.
An Xbox was fun to have for when wanted to play a drinking game on vacation late nights, with the couple halo games. You can jump into halo co op with someone and halo 1 or 2 hooks u in quick.
Original Xbox has a cool feel, I love the startup sounds and visuals. However, the console itself is junk and every single one I’ve had has encountered problems.
Xbox brand itself it's not really collectable because it doesn't have a history like Nintendo, Sega, Sony, NeoGeo, etc. Microsoft itself never develop its own IP that has mass appeal. I don't foresee collecting any Xbox brand items in the future...
Growing up me and all my friends love Nintendo and PlayStation so everyone was excited about when the PS2 launched and a lot of people got the GameCube also but OG xbox wasn't that popular because everybody already had their other consoles a lot of us were still playing Dreamcast to..... some people got an Xbox for Halo but that was about it
Honestly in 2002 I traded everything I had NES ,SNES,PS1,PS2 For the OG xbox because of Xbox Live and Halo I honestly think people went with what they could afford then Because xbox was completely new but yes their are OG xbox collectors and even consoles that are rare and Honestly the OG xbox is softmod friendlier to run emulators on..Another thing is the OG Xbox will do 1080i compared to ps2 games and they look alot better on a flat screen tv...You can buy a hdmi converter for ps2 and other consoles but they still wont do 1080i or even 720p like the OG xbox will also you can rip cds to console and enjoy music while playing games ..My opinion people dont really know about the xbox side of things because they couldnt afford it...
It depends on your age, I had all of those TMNT books as a kid and Xbox is my console, it was big when it came out. I don’t care for PlayStation so when Xbox came out I got back into gaming and I was in High school when the Xbox debuted. Seems like yesterday.
I love original Xbox, and honestly it’s one of the retro consoles that isn’t super over priced to collect. I’m happy to keep it that way, more for me!
Same here.
And they emulator mod very nicely!
Same , lots of amazing games for cheap, i love it .
I bloody love the og Xbox (Xbox The 1st™ as I call it).
It's a fantastic console of that gen. Sucks it does *not* get the love it so rightfully deserves!

That van tho. ❤❤❤
Sorry about Paul Reubens, Rick! Hard to lose someone so close to your childhood!☹️
You really need to come down here to southern Alabama. I know some Retro places that will leave you speechless. Play and Talk if the perfect Retro game store for the gulf coast and Covert Comics and Collectibles is just as awesome

It’s actually much smaller than a delica! It’s a Suzuki Every Turbo.
You know you've made it when you have a freakin billboard of your face and store on the side of the highway from Little Rock to Conway Arkansas!!
Rick, I’ve got an idea for your store. Have someone make decals for your fan blades, so when they get up to speed there is an image you can see on the rotating fan blades.
You’re welcome.
That van sure looks a lot like what G1 Rachet and Ironside are based off of
Always enjoy your lists and the out of the ordinary books that you include, thanks for the content!
I had that Super Mario Bros 2 notepad! No idea where I got it, but seeing it unlocked a core memory of writing on it!
My two favorite retro bros together!!! It’s a good day
let's go!!!
I think Halo and Xbox are the pinnacle of 4 person gaming, started with N64 and 007 and Halo perfected it.
I've had a grudge against Star Fox since it debuted since it replaced Mario as the Nintendo Power mini comic. 30 years later and I still hold those ill feelings. I think I have played it for a few mins once on emulation.
That kind of thinking has made you miss out on a great game
Lol wut
id love to work in a shop like that tbh
Same here
Only true Nostalgia kings would know when he said "lookin around, lookin around" what he was quoting. Its from a 90s computer film. The character that said those words in that tone of voice was Joey. Anyone know what film he was hinting at?
Hackers!
DUDE I was just at Ft. Walton beach for 5 days and I searched video games on Apple Maps and got nothing but Redbox and Walmart. Wish I could’ve spotted this from the main strip! 🤦♂️
So cool to see retro world here
thank you my dude!
Thats crazy! I have only the Starfox piece to that standee and always wondered what it came off of. Now i know!
I love the og xbox. It was my console of choice during that generation. I had it and my gamecube. Loved them both
Nice find! We'll see you in Phoenix for Game On next weekend!
And Riff....chill. You had your chance dude 😎
great as always matey! best retro on you tube, nothing like this in Wales

I am a lot closer to Arkansas the Florida is, and have a Sharp NES tv, with all 4 feet and the matching all black controller if you are interested...
LOL
I had tons of this stuff when I was a kid too. I was spoiled.
Oh shitttt. My man D-Can crossing over!!
Original Xbox is one of my favourites. But great exclusives are few and far between.
I went to that store when I was on vacation a few years ago. Great store I just didn’t find anything I was super interested in at the time. But if I’m ever in the area I’ll definitely be stopping by again!
Sharp TV would look pretty dope. But my wife says no more CRTs
worked in electronics at Kmart back in the day and sold about a dozen of the NES tvs
Oh wow. Retro World! Nice collab.....for real though.....we ALL know that the best yt is KODYWITHAK! WE WANT KODY COLLABS!!
thanks for watching dude! Kody is the GOAT
Cool to see a collab with the retro world. I aways thought he was a floating head with arms. But is seems that het has legs to😂
LOL
I think a lot of us og Xbox fans were older when it came out and our peak need for nostalgia hit a while ago. I can see Xbox 360 having a much bigger draw as a lot of younger kids grew up with one.
Joe is a national treasure.. see you at RAD WEEKEND BOIIIIIIIII
❤
I wonder if that is a suzuki carry van
Collecting for original Xbox is the best. Games are rare, affordable, and fun to play. Plus tons of Xbox/Microsoft memorabilia that is also fun to hunt for.
I'd die to have that in my game room!
Dude the og Xbox made me a gamer I had a megadrive, an N64 &, a PSone and played them a bit but it never really maded me fall in love with gaming but, when I turned on the og Xbox I became a gamer.
i love that CRT collection... holy cow
Man that Suzuki van is something! It's been more that 10 years since I've last seen one lol!
Original Xbox was legit. I loved it so much it's just not old enough yet lol. Maybe in 5 years it will pick up.
Must be *Superman* *64*
Shout out to Retro World! 👊

I had those TMNT books. Loved them
OMG I need that Chrono Trigger player's guide :P
"I didnt grow up on the original xbox so i dont understand the hype."
I have quite literally never felt older.
I go to FWB a couple times a week. It be awesome to meet you next time you come to the gulf coast.
Dang, I just moved from that area across the country and had no idea of it.
I went from N64 to OG Xbox to Wii...some of my friends had GameCube or PS2. I remember playing N64 and OG Xbox most! Going to try and buy all those Xbox games I used to play
That standee is amazing to me as a StarFox fan, is Peppy suppose to be there or never was in the first place?
I agree with about the XBox, I was switching between Dreamcast and PC when XBox was getting popular. I didn't get into XBox until 360.
My sister had that tv with a Nintendo built into it 30 years ago. Who would have know it would have been so collectible. I remember playing roger rabbit in my niece’s bedroom on it.
Iv never seen or heard of one before. SNES is my favorite system of all time. Things and life were so simple back then
just posted 21 minutes ago? I'm pretty sure I saw one of your videos a long time ago when you finished your nintendo collection. are you starting another one?
Og xbox is sick. Im so glad i had one rather then ps2 or gamecube. Multiplayer halo and its nice library of games.
Don't sleep on Crusader of Centy. One of the best games on Genesis.
Im sure theres a local store where you live that can do the Starfox display. Even do more than one and cheap.
You can even ask to make a display like that but with other games.

That robot in the van looks like wafflebot from Harold and Kumar
My area is the opposite. I can't find any og xboxs around really at all
An Xbox was fun to have for when wanted to play a drinking game on vacation late nights, with the couple halo games. You can jump into halo co op with someone and halo 1 or 2 hooks u in quick.
Original Xbox has a cool feel, I love the startup sounds and visuals.
However, the console itself is junk and every single one I’ve had has encountered problems.
Does Rick need Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu NES CIB for his collection? :)
I didn't know u knew retro world he's one of my favorite channels
Awesome!!
I’m gonna need you to stop making so many good videos. I can’t stop watching hahaha😂😂😂
I MISS THE $10 Game challenge
Xbox 1 was the first console that had enemies that used an AI with Halo. It was the game changer in my opinion.
You have the most awesome videos on TH-cam retro Rick sincerely Wayne 😊
FOR MY SON!
Rick!!!! Are you selling those Oracle game boxes???
Xbox brand itself it's not really collectable because it doesn't have a history like Nintendo, Sega, Sony, NeoGeo, etc. Microsoft itself never develop its own IP that has mass appeal. I don't foresee collecting any Xbox brand items in the future...
Hey its Rad Junk!
I feel like Original Xbox will get popular too once the price of series X consoles goes down because I think series X is backwards compatible
I have a mint Earthbound with Manual and box!
Retroworld is a cool channel
Growing up me and all my friends love Nintendo and PlayStation so everyone was excited about when the PS2 launched and a lot of people got the GameCube also but OG xbox wasn't that popular because everybody already had their other consoles a lot of us were still playing Dreamcast to..... some people got an Xbox for Halo but that was about it
Yo bro we need to get that cardboard pro clear coated

When is Trade Night starting at Game Point?!
