  • I recently got around to playing some Forbidden Psalm, and I am a fan. The game plays quickly, is very solo-friendly, and the end-of-the-world fantasy setting is a lot of fun. It's definitely worth a look!

It took a lot longer than I had initially hoped to make a video. I'm getting things together for KSP now as well.

I was happy to make it the first table top war game for some friends. And Mork Borg was their first TTRPG :)

Currently on the 3rd scenario of this game in co-op. Highly recommend. Not mentioned in the video but the game comes with standies of the enemies in case you have issues finding similar minis so that is a really nice alternative too.

Good call. I've used it as an excuse to go nuts with my 3D printer, but that is a really good no-cost option.

Forgot to mention that for newcomers the game works better if you have already a collection of models be it traditional or paper. Because re rolling a dead warband only for them to have rhe same faces is a mood killer. The same happned to me with gamma world box set. There was just not enought tokens to represent all the madness of random characters.

As described by you (and other reviewers) the Mork Borg setting reminds me a lot of the Dying Earth from Jack Vance's stories, would that be an accurate assessment? In the Dying Earth stories (which if you haven't read, I strongly recommend) the world is ending, the sun is flickering and at any moment it may go out. The world is sparsely populated, mostly empty with lots of ruins populated by bizarre creatures. Everyone is very cynical and there are hardly any heroes, because who wants to be one when the world is going to end any day now? Even the humor seems taken from Vance, because his characters are very darkly humorous, both in their failings (common) and successes (uncommon). His wizards are psychopath loners and his other "heroes" are thieves or amoral adventurers with inflated egos.

It does bear some similarity to Dying Earth. The aesthetic is a bit more death metal, and there is a lot of gallows humor baked in as well.

Every game is miniature agnostic if you gonna play solo.
