Tackling Queensland’s Toughest Hike

  • I climb one of Queensland's most beautiful and unforgiving mountains nestled in the Scenic Rim, along a track that has claimed many lives and from which unprepared hikers are regularly airlifted. This is not a walk in the park. This is a hard slog up the side of an ancient volcano.

    Great video and brought back memories of doing the same ascent 30 years ago. We had one detour ... around a large Carpet Pythion :) Doesn't sound like they've improved the track markers. look forward to seeing your next adventure., Cheers, RJ

    Hope you never got sick from that water. You must have a good immune system. I love how you chose the blunt option over the beer. Nice vid mate.

    16:50 and onwards. I know that feeling so well hahaha. Done Barney 3 times now and i don't think it gets any easier, it's certainly a beast! I usually overload on the water though, it definitely adds to the pack weight but i'd rather the extra work than the dehydration. I also may or may not carry a beer with me to celebrate reaching the summit..
    PS. Excellent video, i loved every minute of it.

    Well done on reaching the summit. I can appreciate how much extra walking you would have done to make that brilliant video. I don't like the sound of my own voice so prefer to let the music & the scenery do the talking. Your commentary really helped to keep me interested right to the end. Which editing software & camera gear do you use ? Cheers

      Thanks so much for the kind comment! Running back and forth certainly makes the trek harder. I use a Blackmagic Pro Cinema Camera 4K with a Nokton Voigtlander f0.95 25mm lens. Not the most portable set up but it achieves some great shots! Other than that I use Premiere Pro and After Effects.

      @@AdventureSupreme thanks for the reply. You have given me some great ideas for different shots next time I go bushwalking. I only use a GoPro 7 for video, Oppo phone for still shots & Mavic air 2 drone for birds eye view. I planned on getting Premiere pro for better editing. Once again great video & storytelling 👍.

    Went up by several different routes over the years. I was constantly shocked by the number of ill equipped, ignorant and unfit people who caused police and volunteers to expend considerable time and effort rescuing them. Shout out to Scenic Rim State Emergency Service..

    Doing an ascent of Barney no matter what ridge you choose - with nothing but a Powerade bottles worth of water is asking for trouble mate. Never guaranteed of a decent supply in the saddle either, you’d be sick as dog drinking stagnant water with nothing to boil or treat it. In future take at least 3 litres.

    Amazing filming and story telling.. I am also a TH-camr...but i keep on thinking if you are climbing with a twin brother who holds the camera and you holding it while your brother continues on...

    What camera do you use??

    • @AdventureSupreme
      @AdventureSupreme  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K with a Voigtlander f0.95 lens. For this one, I also had one of the original DJI drones - maybe the first mini. It's been a while since I had it so I can't quite remember exactly which one it was.

    lmao did this about a year ago and made the same dumbass mistake with water xD
    if you were dehydrated on the ascent though that's super dangerous :o

      It's a silly mistake to make. I didn't film it but I drank from a puddle once I got to the summit. Won't be making that mistake twice!
