I just bought this tv. Will get it in a few weeks. I am looking forward to getting it. For the price it looked like the best deal that was available to me. 120hz, vvr, 4 hdmi, owning both Xbox and ps5. I will use a chromecast so I don’t have to use the build inn smart-tv. Important to me when making the choice. It has a headphone jack, and there are so many tvs now that lack that. And I do like the ambilights. I’m sure it’s going to be a major upgrade from my current tv inn all aspects. I think I can live with the downsides just fine. Looking forward to receiving it. Great review!
Great to see someone review this. What is this like at displaying dark scenes or total black out scenes. Can you still see the TV is on dim lit? Something I worry about going to mini-led from oled. Thanks.
Were do you setup your Nvidea Shield? I have recently bought this Tv (not setup yet) and was reading up it's best to connect the Nvidea Shield to the (Dolby atmos) sound bar then the sound bar to the TV....what do you think good sir?
Yes that would work fine, make sure to fully update the TV, it's had a couple more updates since the review and with a few tweaks to the settings is a great TV - Hope you enjoy it!
Been looking at this TV a lot lately - Would've already bought it if not for the terrible OS. Everything else seems really good but I'd rather keep my Ambilight from 2019 with Android 9.
Iv got the old pus9002/12 oled with ambilight+ hue and it's a 2017 model still going strong aswell thinking of this unit for a gaming room for my (ps5) also with a firestick 4k max for films n football ⚽
A good review of this TV. Unfortunately this model is beset with issues that have been reported on AVForums, it is worth a visit to see just how bad it has been. The problem is that even after multiple software updates the tv is still not working as it should. The dropping price of the product is an indicator of this. Philips like many manufacturers use purchases as non paid Beta testers to let them know of faults that exist or develop so that they can try to resolve them, they do this instead of carrying out proper time related testing before release of the model. This is now common place and is being accepted by the purchasing public. If I buy a TV and it does not work to the specification it has been sold as, I return it, I am not prepared to keep it and test it with multi updates over several months that neither resolve the issues but usually create additional problems.
Bonjour.
Bought this for my parents. Didnt properly test it due to time, but it has more backlight bleeding than any othet TV i ever encountered. Besides that, local dimming does not work.
Nice review, informative thanks. Will you be doing another update to this review one day ? As since January there's been quite a few updates from what i've understood, even one like a week ago I believe.
So I ended up ordering a 55pml9008 received it this morning. First impression, I really didn't think i'd enjoy the ambilight that much lol. Picture quality ok for me (i'm coming from a LG SM8200PLA so everything is better lol), bright enough, I can't see much blooming, i've noticed blooming once in about 10 hours of fiddling around with the TV. I did have a power cycle issue, where the TV just turned off and would turn back on without pulling the plug out of the wall, I think it's was due to the automatic standby after 240 minutes in the ECO options i've disabled that, so we'll see if that problem comes back. Coming back to the Ambilight, it is really cool, surprisingly immersive, I thought I was going to have it turned off all the time, but nope. It's a bit of a pain a color match (color of the wall selection is very important)
Nice review, I am currently looking for my first 75" I have always been a samsung man but I am seriously thinking about getting this, the most important thing for me is I love watching movies in the dark and dark movies like sci-fi some tvs dont handle dark scenes well and you get this horrible grey blooming, what this tv like for this please. Oh and can I ask how much you paid for yours where its now 4 to 5 months on thank you.
There is a new Firmware TPN238E_238.002.182.001, do you already have it and if so, any positive Changes or even fixed/new Problems? Hard to find Info of Changelog.
@@MandyglenThanx for the response, did you had the chance to check the strange power cycling on the new Firmware? Still turning on/off on his own and if turning on, still sometimes no picture? I might wanna give the PML9308 a chance, can get it for 1300 €
I’m still using a smart plug to cycle the tv, just got a new update again today - Will give it a try without the smart plug and get back to you in a day or 2 - Hope this helps
Perfect review... thank you... now I'm totally sure this modell is an absolute pass. When watching reviews in general... every single Philips regardless gets a pet in the back for bright picture but in reality it's so damn bright that most of the screen looks awful blurry with much less details. I was going to buy the LG 65" QNED826 tomorrow on a good price deal, but just now another vendor put this model up for same price for 55".... First I see Mini-Led... and say oh shit, wait. But again reviews with picture quality side by side shows much better picture quality from any QLED/QNED specially LG... details on far away mountains are hardly visible on any Philips modell, most blurr... but highly detailed on them others. The fact that it comes with utter worthless own OS is also a major issue... Friends with this crappy OS on less than 3 yo tv's don't even have disney+, hbo or any other major streaming...only Netflix and Amazon... the latter crashes all the time, constantly...hardly any apps been added on extremly low amount of updates since they bought it and none were in entry cheap level Philips modells either. A disco behind my tv isn't very desirable so I don't get the point with ambilight...it's just buncha lights around the tv, almost disturbing at times with flicker and whatnot... Only positive spect is a Mini-Led for decent price... But I think LG QNED wins anyway and purchased tomorrow...there's no contest in picture, color details and richness... It's almost as if Philips just turned the brightness as high as it goes to the point of you sqeenting the eyes... and say, there... we have "best" brightness, F the details you disco tv instead... and ffs just scrap that horrible OS that looks and works like something from 2008, just go google only... what even is the point of slapping non working garbage to your product...its beyond understanding.

To be fair, I'm getting this over a Samsung crystal UHD but I don't mind since on both i'll be using my google box
Very nice 🎉😊😊😊😊
My PS5 Picture looks washed out on this TV. But the Picture on the installed Apps at the TV (TH-cam) looks great. Whats the problem?
I don't have an Apple TV, how can I set it up?
A good honest review of this tv although nice seems to have many flaws a shame
