How did mail-away figures work and why would Hasbro hide a Sylvester Stallone venture behind the process? I can see Cobra Commander being one because Hasbro was hesitant to commit to villains in the early days, but why a celebrity they went out of their way to collaborate with?
Bacj then, every Joe toy came with a certain number of "flag points". Which was basically printed on the card back or box. So the more Joe toys you bought on retail the more flag points you accumulated, which you mail to Hasbro in exchange for an exclusive toy. Just added an incentive to buy more toys. It was a common practice for many popular toylines including Star Wars, Transformers and I think He Man. Why make Stalone an exclusive mail away? Well again that was the practice? Same was tru for Sht slaughter and the Fridge. Gotta make the exclusive attractive and special I guess.in any case many exclusives were then offered as regular retail figures the following year, so this was a case of an early release sort of thing :)
Who are you favorite oddball characters from G.I.Joe or Cobra?
GI Joe was a secondary like transformers from my first so this will make sense that the battle Android trooper is my favorite GI
BATs were classic Cobra :)
Crystal Ball and Raptor 4 the WIN!!!
They're definitely odd dudes but still cool in my book :)
