Christian background, not really active. Been struggling with this. I've had a crush on my current gf for years now.went to prom with her and all. I've asked her out 3 times and finally landed her. Love the girl to pieces but she's on that no sex til marriage and as much as I want to be on the same page, I'm not. Now we do spend time together alone but nothing has happened because of her strong will and what seems like low libito to begin with which can't be fixed by a ring. Well, it's certainly a touchy subject (excuse the pun). Back when I was your age (realistically probably about 3-4 yeas older) I was heavily involved in the Church, and shared an apartment with 3 other guys from the church, and we would have weekly house meetings were we opened-up about different things in a support group setting. Most of us had a girlfriend whom also attended the same church whom we were serious about and hoped to one day marry. We followed the same guidelines for dating outlined here; double dating, never being alone, keeping conversation centered around the lord, etc. In those weekly meetings, it was found that everyone confessed to falling into masturbation, about once a month on average. Then others admitted to involuntary sex which manifested itself through nocturnal emissions. I'm bringing this up because this should be an 'open' discussion. The problem with religious thought is that it does not want to acknowledge the fact that sex is something that we cannot help having because it is a biological. Should we give full rein to it... absolutely not! However, it is important for young people to develop positive attitudes about a behavior in which most will engage, regardless of whether or not they choose to abstain from intercourse or not. Perhaps we can learn from the example of non-European cultures, where they seem to recognize this fact, and couples are united in marriage early-on, sometimes even at the very onset of puberty.

It actually wasn't hard at all.. We were so close and comfortable with one another, so it made the transition really easy. Hope this answered your question :)
