My AutoZone guy is giving me stp brand for my 46re. Should I use it or use ATF+4 Valvoline which is full synthetic. should I use synthetic ATF plus 4 or non-synthetic ATF plus 4 on that 98 transmission? Thanks
yep sure did....that's what the dealer recommended after they looked at the fluid...even though our deal was for the tranny to have full service prior to delivery. TURDS!
Put a new the 2 filters and fresh fluid like 6qts and damn slightly better not a huge difference though I think I gotta top up maybe a half quart shifts little harsh going up a steep hill lol
So, you think maybe I ought consider changing the transmission fluid and filter in my 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 - that is approaching 280,000 miles? :-). Keep up the good videos!
Well I'd say at this point its a matter of personal preference...funny there are several schools of thought on transmission service...I have buddys that have over 200k miles and never touched the tranny....well its a matter of personal preference....my transmission was not shifting like it should...jumping in and out of overdrive...the fluid looked like someone had put in an additive...so I changed it, 280k Man these heavy duty Ram trucks hold up nice!
lol....older video....before I kinda came into myself...I look back at some of the stuff I did early on in the channel...and I cringe...awkward and stiff...kinda funny to watch though
use a 1/2 hose and pump the fluid out of the cooler line... far less mess. hose is like 3 bucks at homedepot.

I recommend Schaeffer transmission oil over STP or any other oil. It's better for your transmission

can you just use a wire wheel and a drill to clean it off?

quarts..well we work inlitres up her..so a litre is more than a american quart.
