100% violently underated mech. Ive had a lot of fun trying to minmax this thing in the past. While this is one of the more common builds, it has plenty of strong competitors on the chasis. The strong quirks across the different variants enable very powerful builds for the chasis' tonnage when leaned into.
Ben giocato! IMHO the Griffin is another pretty good medium that you don't see very often; it has some nice armor & structure quirks. I build the GRF-2N with MPLs, SRM-6s, JJs, & ECM. Same build with LPPCs & SRM-4s works well too. Pretty solid options for a beginner.
@@Vsolid for sure, "zeppelin-shaped" 'mechs like Crab & Marauder have better frontal hitboxes however if you get good at torso twisting, you can make a Griffin present narrower than a Crab, & splash the damage across more components.
Im learning to pilot medium mechs, love the stormcrow and vapor eagle.....but the thing is that im doing horribly in the vapor eagle while the stormcrow is having good success. Would love to see a guide/gameplay with commentary for the vapor eagle chassis (1 if possible, as thats the one i have). Positioning, what to think about when piloting it etc. Would be greatly appreciated as i find medium mechs fun with their speed and stuff, im just too used to heavies so i die way too fast in my vapor eagle.
Not DATA but: Vapor Eagles are almost exclusively seen in use as poptart builds for a reason. IIRC the VGL-1 is usually running 3x ERPPC in the torso slots. Your goal is to stay at range, popping out of cover momentarily to smack before going back into cover. You don't want to be at the front line, you want to be second line fire support. Very few mediums can actually handle being front line solo.
@@gyrfalcon-6 It's still not good as an unsupported front line mech. The moment the enemy gets a chance to focus on you, you die in it, because it's REALLY hard for them to miss the hunch, meaning your main weapon will be gone in literal seconds.
@@jtnachos16 although no longer meta, i still have fun and good success with my brawler eagle. It uses an lbx20 in the torso and 4 srm6. It runs hot on extended fights and like you said, it is no front liner. But as a assault support it works great. You wait for the biggies to start engaging and swoop in to a massive shotgun blast while the enemy is focused on the bigger target. Absolutely murderous to any cored components.

All of THIS. Whole Treb line is, for the most part, overquirked like mad. And nobody seems to notice
The Trench Bucket is a classic.
Loooove trench buckets, used to run XL 390 2 streaks and 4 MLs when they came out, I could smoke 2-3 Jenners a match
I like this builds I run a cicada with 2 mrm 20s with the quirks it's a great mech in quickplay

I like the Griffin but its huge profile is a dealbreaker imo

The hunchback 4g I think it has a perk for ac 20 cool down first match I did 1k damage
