Against the Storm is a 2023 city-building video game developed by Eremite Games and published by Hooded Horse. Unlike traditional city-building games, it incorporates elements of roguelike games and has a short playtime with goals players must achieve.

If possible I like to open one dangerous glade each storm, and only go for the small glades if I have a cornerstone that benefits from it, or if I know there will be a geyser/farmland/ruin in it from the races skills.

@@lChronosl93 this seems to be the consensus

I'd say on average I open 1 to 2 small glades, and probably 2-3 dangerous and 1-2 forbidden glades. Large glades contain FAR more than 2x resources compared to the 2x hostility. Also, you can farm and explore. Just because you discover a farm doesn't mean you shouldn't stop cutting into glades. If anything, once you get set up you should start cutting into MORE dangerous and forbidden glades, as they can give you rep points and lots of goodies in the events alone. That's not even talking about the resource nodes. I primarily play on prestiege 5, and even 1-2 dangerous glades only get me to around year 3, and then I start opening my last couple dangerous and or forbidden glades

I've read a lot of people opening 1 dangerous glade every year

@@2Siders I’d consider that a bit over the top, but if you’re really trying to go fast, I can see opening one or two per year, depending on difficulty. If you play on anything below viceroy difficulty, spamming glades open is a very effective strategy

@@roodog1 It’s pretty fast for me too, but might just be about getting used to it :)

Also, farming while incredibly strong, is also pretty slow depending on when you get the building. If you get it in your starting blueprints/you bring one excellent! BUt if you have to wait until you do your first 1 or 2 orders, you don't get the farm building going until year 2 or three, then you have to wait an extra year until you plant and harvest. It could be year 3 or 4 before you even see results from your farms. So while strong, they can be situational, and are not always an insta win

I'm not super sure farming is necessarily _better_ if you bring it with you VS. doing it on year 4 for instance. Farming is farming; The only thing seemingly holding it back is the current season itself. I'm not sure if this makes sense, I'm explaining it in a weird roundabout way Drizzle mid is probably the worst time because you don't have any time to farm that year and you have to wait another year. But if you get the building beginning of storm season, the year basically just started for you.
Best case scenario is bringing a farm with you like you mentioned, but not necessarily because of the time. Picking the order rewards/trader perks with +1 to that given produce, AND not having to cut into glades (reduced hostility) is when farms make up for their slowness IMO.
Prestige 5,6 is my current max too. Bit hard to commentate over though
