2011 Harley FXDWG WIDE GLIDE 4” over “chopper” style

  • Quick run down of my favorite bike. I’ve had this bike for a few years and really love the presence it has in the street.
    One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that my good friend designed the black metal tank graphic. In case you’re wondering it does in fact say Harley Davidson, as with most black metal font it’s near impossible to read. I had the tank painted black after purchase because flames suck.

    This video started a whole spiral for me and my wide glide, love this idea. Ended up researching longer forks, talking with some fork guys and long story short went full on, got my bike chopped and stretched as well as longer forks. No more square backbone.

    Beautiful bike 👍🏻,.. I myself have a 2013 103” FXDWG with a +6” extended frontend and ol’school dust covers, 12” apehanger, RC Components wheel kit, Bassani 2-1, S&S 585 camkit, Rivera Camplate - oilpump-cam chains and sprockets + chain tensioner, a Big Sucker kit and a V&H FP3 Fuelpak. The Bike runs like an animal and people get really surprised when they see how easy it handles,…I wish more Bikers would go back to the Chopper style instead of all these Baggers you constantly see 👍🏻☠️

      How does it handle with the +6 forks? I been wanting to do that with my 2012 wide glide for a while now

      Where did you source the front end parts?

      The newer Wideglides are already “prepared” for up to a +8” extended Frontend because of their special Steering Angle. HD should be accepting the +8” as a Max extension. I have build lots and lots of Choppers and for a Swingarm Frame I would say the + 6” is absolutely perfect when it comes to safe handling and still have a Cool Chopper Look.
      I bought my +6” in Hard Chrome.. always pick that.. for around 260$, remember to buy new Seals and Forkoil,.. or do as I did, buy a preowned set of Lower Legs and then make a complete set of +” Forklegs ready to be installed whenever you feel for it. I can do that in 20min…. so easy !

    Hey'ya, I can dig it man! That's a mad bike... maybe I missed it but did you have to change out the front break line for length? If so what line did you go with?

    • @brianbutler307
      @brianbutler307 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is my other account but yes I did measure the line with a piece of string and order a new one. I think it was a burly line or something from tc customs. Any line will do if the length is correct and it was a 5 min job to swap it.

    Nice bike. Its uncanny the direction we both took our bikes for the same reasons.
    Club style is played out in my eyes/ not my thing to begin with. So i went more old school / chopper style. 4 overs w/new springs(low rider, so less rake than yours), king and queen style seat, etc.
    mines a 96" and i like it well enough, might do some drop in cams but im not a speed demon.

    curious as to why you say the scorchers suck, I only ask because that's what I use and my last set I got 11000 miles out of em... Love the 4 overs, Ive been trying to figure out how to rake mine a little more, Thanks!!! Great looking bike, I had considered selling my 11 but same as you have decided I will keep her...

    • @skeggst2957
      @skeggst2957  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I used Harddrive 31.5” 49mm fork tubes. Be sure to order them in hard chrome and not show chrome. Swap the lowers to the new tubes and add 4 more inches of spacer in the tubes and you’re good to go. You’ll have to rebuild the fork seals while you’re in there but it’s easy if you follow any of the multiple TH-cam videos about it.

    If able to do this all over again, would you go +2 more inches if you could? How does the handling change as you go up, and did you need to modify the kickstand?

    • @brianbutler307
      @brianbutler307 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I saw one that was +6 and it didn’t look good. At that length the wheel needs to be in front of the fork like the old style choppers or it begins to look silly. I did add a +1 kickstand.

    Raising the tank like that, does it effect the gas gauge?

    • @LLQ423
      @LLQ423 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does make the low fuel light come on a little sooner but you still get the same amount of miles per tank. Look up videos from DK Customs explaining it well.
