I am so glad you feel the same way about A Man Called Ove!! I thought I was the only one! I tried twice to read it and DNF'd both times! I loved Anxious People, like you, as well!
Divine Rivals was so underwhelming for me because I don’t think Rebecca Ross knew what she wanted it to be. It’s like a high and low fantasy at the same time and it didn’t work. I’m all for a romance that takes place in a fantasy world but I was confused whether it was supposed to be the real world or not and it took me so long to understand that Oath is the city and Cambria is the country. She focused so much on the romance that the world was so underdeveloped and empty when the war and everything was a big part of the story too, not just the romance. Also I felt so deceived because I thought that neither of them knew who they were writing these letters to but Roman knew the entire time it was Iris, like sorry but that was such a sad excuse of an enemies to lovers story (I think I’ve read like 2 good ones)
I completely agree about the Tessa Bailey book. I read the first book in that series and it was really good. But I was cringing almost from the beginning of Merry Ever After. DNF’d that one. Now I’m nervous to do any others in the Under the Mistletoe series.
I like that you made a "Least favorite books" video because it helps me learn your tastes in books.....I DNF'd "A Little Life". Mostly because I think I just wasn't in the mood to read it. But the fact that it was third person, very long, and had many characters didn't help either. I really do want to try to read it again because I want to see the what the big deal is and why some people love it. "Never Never" by Colleen Hoover was the book I rated the lowest this year, which is shocking because I loved every other book I've read of hers....I can't wait to see what you think of the Legacy of Gods books! 🙂
Well since you asked, I disagree about A Man Called Ove, loved it. I agree about Tessa Bailey, all her books make me cringe, so I'm done trying. Worst book of the year for me was Shark Heart. Merry Christmas!
I kinda feel the way you do about Happiness For Beginners but I feel that way about all of KC’s books. I feel like not much happens then all of a sudden a huge love profession happens. No development or background.
A Man Called Ove was my first Fredrik Backman book and still my favorite. Ove was such a quirky curmudgeon and underneath just a lonely, kind soul. I was pleasantly surprised at Happiness for Beginners. I think I read it because you mentioned it and went in blind and ended up enjoying it.
I know that A Little Life is a well-regarded book, but the only thing I’ve heard about it that stuck with me was that it’s like “suffering porn.” You saying there are too many heavy topics seems to match that. No thank you. And, with respect, I don’t think Elin Hilderbrand is meant to be mystery or thriller. Some of her books have elements of suspense, but that’s not her genre. I liked The Identicals quite a lot. And I will say, many of her characters are deeply unlikeable, and I have nearly rage quit a few because of characters being ridiculous, but then I remind myself that characters don’t have to be likeable if they’re relatable and realistic. And I’ve enjoyed every book of hers that I finished. Definitely not saying you should keep trying, just sharing my opinion 😊 Absolutely nothing wrong with talking about books you don’t like…that’s not being a hater, that’s being honest and genuine. ❤
Here's my picks Memnoch the devil by Anne rice book 5 in the vampire chronicles Steelstriker by marie lu It happened one summer by tessa bailey Some desperate glory by Emily tesh Same time next summer by annabel Monaghan Flying solo by linda Holmes The love song for ricki wilde by tia Williams Taming 7 by chloe Walsh this book was too short
More than words was also not it for me! I did finish it cause back then I was in a reading stage where I dumbly didn’t allow myself to dnf, but I just could not root for the couple after the mmc said that one foul thing, I was done for, i just couldn’t look past it.
I agree about A Man Called Ove but loved the movie! I struggled to get through the book, but I love the author so much! It’s funny hearing your opinion on Ruthless Vows because what you said was how I felt about Divine Rivals, I felt so disappointed but wanted to read Ruthless Vows anyways and ended up LOVING it!
I DNFd You again in the first chapters it was so bad. They were both insufferable. Also, the short story by Tessa Bailey was so bad omg😭 what a let down. No love no Christmas, only smut
My least favorite books this year was also You shouldn’t have come here Jeanva Rose and the boat house by David Bahr (I think this is one of the worst books I’ve ever read lol).
it’s actually kind of refreshing to hear what people didn’t like reading

The tessa bailey one i 100000% agree. I was telling my friend i got the “ick” and i couldn’t pinpoint why….but it was just icky.

Estou na pg 189 do livro uma vida pequena e concordo que o personagem que mais se destacar e acredito que é o que vai ficar na mente é o Jude
I love knowing what you don’t like! But I do love an Elin Hilderbrand book myself. I think 5 star weekend was one of my fave books this year.
I 100 percent understand what you mean about too many characters and complicated plot lines.

I definitely got the ick reading the Tessa Bailey book 😩
I also didn’t like Ruthless Vows. I DNF right about half way through. I also had high hopes for it.
I DNFd You again in the first chapters it was so bad. They were both insufferable. Also, the short story by Tessa Bailey was so bad omg😭 what a let down. No love no Christmas, only smut
