    When it comes to ports in Alaska, Icy Strait may be one of the less know smaller ports, but it's still so worth getting off the ship to walk around the town and really get some stunning views of their stone beach along with their beautiful starfish, and don't forget to sample some crabs too while you are there.
    There is an Icy Strait Museum you can check out for free along with plenty of souvenir shops and some optional tours.
    Some of the tours include the famous ziprider, kayaking, Tribal shows, and a trip into Hoonah, the small town outside of Icy Strait.

    Icy Strait is the body of water. Icy strait Point is name of the port. Too bad you didn’t have time to go to town, talk to locals or watch native Tlingit master carvers working on their totem poles. They love to share their traditions, history and art. There are some good places to eat and buy unique gifts, too. Next time!

      Yes, that's correct, I should've said point. Fortunately, we were able to meet a lot of Tlingit locals on our previous visits to Alaska, so this day we just enjoyed the port area and some seafood. We enjoyed this Alaska trip a bunch. Thank you for watching.

      Yes we were there the last week of June and the weather was nice. We had the early docking 7am-1pm and it was chilly for us but we live on O'ahu lol. It's a cute little area and peek under the stones, sooo many starfish

    Any wampum o that stone beach?

    • @Cruisingfoodies
      @Cruisingfoodies  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh that would've been cool to see. I did see enormous clams and mussels, but no wampum that I found. It was sooo cold but really cool. It did have the most multicolored starfish I've seen in one small spot.
