It is the same motor actually. They both have a 2.0t TSI engine but the GolfR one comes with a better tune from the factory so that it makes more horsepower.
And also since the golf weighs less than it makes it faster. So to putting the same engine in is only going to do so much because they increased the weight on the Tiguan for this new generation.
@@sophiacaswell3099 They do not have the same motor, The Tiguan has a B-cycle 2.0t high efficiency motor like the passat the Golf R has a EA888.3 2.0t. 2 completely different motors.

Picked up my SEL last week. Loving it so far. The seats are as good as it gets. Love the Infotainment setup and the Digital Dash is amazing.

I’m guessing they can do more aggressive tuning due to higher octane gas availability-..
You can tune it and make it with that, I have a 2016 Tiguan and that's what I did to give it that extra horsepower.
Stock is 200hp on previous tiguans.

Looks like they've done away with the knobs on the multimedia display. Huge disappointment there in my opinion.
