As a man in his 30s with work, family, bills - The feeling of nostalgia from the games I loved as a kid slowly started to fade....Then I played Sea of Stars. I cannot thank Sabotage enough for giving us this game and making me feel like a kid again. I played it on release from start to finish (all trophies too!) and have not stopped thinking about it since. Hence why I am still here in 2024 listening to the OST while sitting in the office. A must play. Can't wait until your next project!
Not feeling like a kid again at 43 but the game brought back some of that, and the music is a big part of it. Trying to write my own fantasy and the soundtrack is a boost.

This game truly did something to my soul...It's very weird because it came at a time in my life where I was at my lowest. I lost my girlfriend in a car accident about a month before the game was released. I happened to see it on the PlayStation store I decided to buy it... When the mooncradle track started playing for some reason I just could not stop crying happy tears...In some sense it made me feel like she was okay up there.. I know it sounds crazy but I kept going back to just hear the song as the progressed and it brought me joy. Sea of Stars is a 10/10. I will never forget the way it affected me. Thierry and his team at Sabotage Studios made something absolutely beautiful. Thank you for all of your hard work!! ❤️🥹

I can tell this was inspired by Chrono Trigger! Such an amazing sound track on both accounts! Makes me long for a time I wasn't even alive.
So I completed Sea of Stars yesterday and got the true ending. Today I thought - hey the music in the game is really good. I should put the sound track on for a bit.
I didn't expect to start sobbing almost immediately. I'm only 4 songs in but each one is making me sob harder.
But is not a bad sob, it's a good one. Y'know those really good cries where its cathartic and you feel grateful to have in your life whatever it is that is making you sob.
That caught me off guard but it was nice. This game really came to me at the perfect time. Not only is it in itself a great game - a beautiful modern love letter to the RPGs we grew up with. But it was exactly what I needed.
I found myself having a horrible relationship with games recently. My mental health was becoming increasingly poor and I became really controlling and obsessive over games. It was unhelpfully fuelled by games with predatory and unhealthy game mechanics so it was a hard cycle to break. It was a horrible coping mechanism and it was making things way worse. It was only once I reached a really bad breaking point that I could see it all clearly. I spoke with my partner and a friend about gaming (amongst other things obviously) and about how I wanted to heal my relationship with it. To allow games to take me on an artistic journey, to have fun and not to stress. For them to become a safe space for me again. I'm so happy Sea of Stars was the first game I decided to play after I made that choice and I'm forever thankful to the developers for clearly pouring their heart and soul and love for retro RPGs into it. On top of it being a game that I would have loved anyway, it was like a dose of medicine.
So to the Shopkeeper (if you know, you know), I want to say I hear you, I feel you and I thank you. I resonate with a lot of what you said, about gaming and about life. I want to experience more of your world and I want to channel more Garl energy in mine.
Now I can't wait to play The Messenger too!

My brother and I are in our late 30's.... This game spoke to us on levels only someone like us could ever reach. The music is like my childhood, and I thank you for bringing this kind of peace and happiness to our lives. Talking to the end game merchant... Learning who these characters are... Exploring a world so vibrant and full of life... This game is a masterpiece and more than just a video game. It's now part of my story, one of the legendary titles that becomes part of who we are. Through this game, I feel like I've grown my family. Thank you thank you thank you.

I’m going to say the synthwave tracks really blew me away I truly wasn’t expecting that. They really are fantastic. This games entire OST was memorable which is incredibly rare these days. This is right up there in my top 5 OST’s of all time.

Have you played Chrono Trigger. Sea of Stars was heavily inspired by it and it’s also considered one of the best RPGs ever made.

Such an amazing track and to have Yasunori Mitsuda do some of the tracks. This feels like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG music. This was such an amazing game. Felt like the golden age of RPGS for snes.

I picked up the game at launch but only started playing it about a month ago. I don't have as much time for games as I used to 🥲
Start to finish, and true ending, I loved every second of this and the variety of music was a huge part of that. The main battle theme variations made me smile every time a new one came up 😁
Picking up my own copy of this OST rather than just on streaming platforms! Steam isn't my preferred platform but I can't miss out on the Yasunori Mitsuda tracks 🙃
Finally a real legacy for Chrono Trigger. I love the old JRPG and this game is everything I wanted.

Daresay one of my favorite RPGs of all time, so much character, faithfulness to classic RPGs and endless charm with characters I still think about months later, this game is simply a masterpiece

The dweller of woe reminds me of the epic boss battles from the 90s on the Playstation. Yasunori was at Square Enix before and you hear the similarities from the FF-Boss Music back then. This is so good!
The first time I heard Serenade of Respite (Day) in the game I was thoroughly impressed that someone managed to capture and encompass Mitsuda's compositional style so perfectly. Only to discover that it was actually just his composition and my ears weren't fooling me.
In hindsight, I should have remembered that he worked on this game since I saw the promo material where he featured before the game's release.
This game is a 10/10
And the music is 11/10
Hands down the best game I have played in many years. This is a masterpiece, the characters, the setting , story , gameplay and the OST!! So amazing. Thank you for proving that the 16bit era rpg is not dead at all. Best rpg experience I have had since Chrono Trigger.
Such a great game, a lot of newer games I can’t play more than once, I know a lot of people can, they can play a game like elden ring (which I also love) and play multiple characters etc, I just can’t do that for some reason. But the classics like chrono trigger etc I could play over and over, and this game is so great I could play it again and again!

Sea of Stars is easily in my top 5 favorite video games of all time. There's just something so unique and special about it - it's incredibly nostalgic but also unlike anything I'd ever played before, and the soundtrack is a HUGE part of that.
I hope someday it's available in a physical medium, or on Apple Music, but in the meantime TH-cam will do. :)

This is my personal GOTY for 2023. Considering how much heart you guys put into this game, and just the fact that you all didn't have the budget of a triple A studio, you guys and gals knocked it out of the ball park and gave me and I think everyone who played this, a spectacular, whimsical and all out fun experience. I for one am excited to see what you all come up with in the future!
I can’t think of an indie game better than Sea of Stars right now, genuinely I can’t. Straight up perfection. Were there some flaws story wise? Sure. But the insanely beautiful environments and music and gameplay are just top notch
So I started adding some of my favorite tracks from the soundtrack to my music library when I found out this was up on Apple Music.
I already have 2 1/2 hours of music, and that’s just from the Solstice Album. I don’t even have every track I liked added yet.
If that isn’t an indication of not only the quality, but the quantity of the music, I don’t know what does. It’s amazing.
I stumbled upon this game with little expectations, and turned out to be the game that made me cry at the end. The music was phenomenal, the pace was great.. literally everything about this game took me back to the 90s

This is hands down my favorite indie game of 2023 and the only game that I haven’t turned off midway because I got bored. There is something about this game that wants me to keep playing and that’s all I ever wanted in a game.

This game did something to me very few others did in the last 3 decades and reconciled me with the RPG genre. Some of these tracks made me go back to areas on purpose and change night/day time just to listen to it. Memorable and Iconic already.
