Hello everyone! I'd just like to preface my comment by explaining that this video isn't the start of a "comeback", but rather a one-time occurrence. With that said, allow me to elaborate. Nearly five years ago, while in the middle of producing my "Assassin's Creed: Real History" series the uploads abruptly stopped and a follow-up or explanation was never provided as to why, or what the plan would be going forward. Admittedly, my life suddenly got incredibly busy and my priorities had to be re-adjusted. Although my intent had always been to continue the series (I still have a massive script written for the planned follow-up video which was on the American Revolution) one delay cascaded into another, and so on until I had no time left to work on the videos at all. Once that inevitable reality became evident, the right thing to do would have been to address the need for the series to end - but unfortunately, I did not do this and instead simply abandoned the channel altogether without a word. For that, I am truly sorry. Since then, my free time remained greatly limited until the start of the pandemic, at which point I was finally able to briefly step back and realize that I owed this channel and its supportive viewers some form of closure. While I floated many ideas around on how to officially end the series, I ultimately decided to concentrate my efforts on the most heavily requested video - which was an update to my 2014 list of every historical figure in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Though the reprieve in my availability caused by the initial pandemic measures was short-lived, going forward I remained committed to allocating any time I could afford to work on this project. Now, after nearly two years the video is finally done. At this point in time, I have no plans of returning to TH-cam. Though I realize it's five years too late, I hope this video can be accepted as an apology of sorts to any long-time viewers who may see it for my sudden and unexplained departure in 2017. This project was a colossal undertaking, but I’m happy to finally share the finished product with anyone who stumbles across it. I won’t be monetizing the video so hopefully that means no ads for the viewers, though I honestly have no clue how this system works anymore. I’m open to any feedback on the video and although I can’t make promises, I’ll try to circle back to read your comments and answer your questions as the time allows. To anyone who watched our videos and supported us in the past, thank you. It’s always been appreciated. Cheers. -Rob
Thank you Rob. I’ve been watching this channel since I started high school. Now I’m near the end of my college journey. These videos brought me great knowledge and joy. Even if this is short lived, it’s great to hear from you again. Live your life man. If this is officially goodbye, again thank you ✋
@@twosense7723 Wow. This was incredibly heartwarming to read. Thank you for being part of our adventure on TH-cam and for sharing your appreciation of the content we produced. It really means a lot. -Rob
This is exactly why I love Assassin's Creed, because it captures rare periods in history, and includes historical figures in great detail. This whole series is basically a whole history lesson wrapped up in an intriguing video game.
Exactly. Ac odyssey significantly helped me with my humanities course cus i already kinda knew the people. The only problem i see is separating fantasy from history
In the pinned comment Rob has already said pretty much everything there is to say, but I'd also just like to echo his sentiments and say that for all of us who were involved in Online Knights back in the day, working on this channel was an amazing time in our lives and we have so very many fond memories of the times we shared, things we created and the incredible communities that we became part of. I'll gladly admit that Rob worked far harder than any of us and carried the hell out of this channel from start to finish, and so I'm personally incredibly glad that Online Knights' final(?) swansong is a celebration of the amazing content he gifted us all with. This is probably the last you'll see from any us on this channel, but what a great way to go out!
In real life some really belonged in some secret order of one kind or the other. It is also possible that a lot of "fictional" things that happened here, like the finding of Alexander's Tomb, could have been done and never told
Yooo Robius!! I can’t actually believe what I’ve just seen in my Notifications right now!!! Please do us all a favor and continue with these Assassins Creed videos for the current games, Past., and what’s to come… I love your channel and what you do for the Series!.! Please keep going!.!.!.!.!.
Haha, I'm glad I could provide a nice surprise. Though I sincerely wish I had the capability of resuming work on this series and covering all the topics I wanted to share - it just isn't in the cards right now and I'd rather acknowledge that while not providing any false hope to the contrary. I'm incredibly thankful for your appreciation of the series and desire to see it continue though. Hearing that kind of feedback as a creator is very humbling. Thank you. -Rob
This is SUCH an awesome video and *deserves so many views!* 😳🙌🤩 I especially liked at 15:30 for Captain James Cook because he is my relative 8 generations ago (like great, great, great… relative)
How tho? I thought all of James Cook's children died before they had children, so you must be related to his sister and not him, or is this what you meant and I just misunderstood.
I can credit Assassin’s Creed 1 and 2 for really influencing my passion for history. Now I’m a history buff who has a personal library full of non-fiction history books. Playing these games and coming into contact with some of the most famous people from history was just a unique experience in a video game. I vividly remember the first historical character I came across that I kind of knew, and that was Leonardo da Vinci. I wish they would return to the likes of Unity and Syndicate, because you got to interact with the likes of Napoleon, Robespierre, Marquis de Sade and Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens, Alexander Graham Bell, Benjamin Disraeli, Karl Marx, Charles Darwin. I mean those were such awesome moments. I know that Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla and Mirage also feature famous people. But it just feels different or else I’m just looking at it through rose tinted glasses. I was disappointed by Alfred The Great and the sons of Ragnar, particularly Ivar. And don’t get me started on the portrayal of Julius Caesar, Cleopatra etc cetera. I did find it cool in Odyssey though to be able to talk with Socrates, Herodotus, Hippocrates, Pericles, Alcibiades, Euripides, Kleon and Plato.
Rob, your videos have been a fantastic pleasure to watch, especially the real histories and I was devastated we never got the American Revolution and beyond That being said this is a wonderful parting gift if indeed it is to be so “You have earned your rest brother, Requiescat in Pace”
Hearing how people enjoyed the series makes all the effort put into it so much more worthwhile, though I still feel bad about not delivering on everything I would have like to. At the very least I'm glad I could finally provide this parting gift. Thank you so much for your kind words, they really mean a lot - and you definitely hit me to my core as an AC fan with that last line. Cheers. -Rob
This is amazing! Could you edit this video so it also includes AC Mirage? I'm not really familiarized with the Abbasid Caliphate, but would love to know which notable figures you meet there!
I think you missed the inspiration for Edward Kenway which is Samuel "Black Sam" Bellamy. I feel like the early history of Black Sam and the story of Edward are way to similar for him not to be the inspiration. It's probably why he wasn't in Black Flag. Great video, really helped with a project I'm working on
Im so freakin' glad that it kept going and will keep on going! I want more of the franchise and wanna see more historical settings inside of the franchises timeline! Im so stoked for the future games!
I'm gonna have to watch this over again so I can look at the title's name. Quite a number of them I've never even heard of before. My guess is causing in America they didn't have any use for those titles. I could be wrong
Sooooooo cool seing the best sultan in existance in Suleyman in assassins creed cuz my great great great grandfather and those before him were ottomans turks. Great video

Agreed it does do a really good job at that despite being fictionalised.
Awesome intro music. I dont remember if that womans voice was the same as the one for Jesper Kyds OST, but its so good anyways

I love how Ubisoft made some historical figures be either assasin or Templar
