Granny’s batch is what got me hooked on Bookers. But I was a year too late and 2021-01 was on the shelves everywhere at that time. I was able to hunt down several bottles after a lot of work and searching. Can’t wait to see a blind between 2022-02 and 2020-01.
Thanks for your thoughts and concerns. I picked up a 2022-02 for $79 the other day at a NorCal Costco. I feel lucky that they still pop up at a reasonable price occasionally in my box store.
We’ve already polished off bottle one of 2022-02 at 84$. Our liquor store has at least 4 more. We’re going back. I’d like to see you compare this to the last stagg jr and dovetail. Three heavy hitters.
Just got Lumberyard today, I was on the watchout since I saw this video. Of course I had to open it immediately, and I completely agree, best batch I had in a while. Thanks for the motivation! Your palates really are a gold standard for me, that is a reassuring feeling 👍
OK, I have to add something. Lumberyard has a quite prominent note, mostly on the nose , but also on the palate that I dig very hard. It is something - I'm not good in decribing notes, but still - in the realm of Molasses, oak and red grapes for me and is also present, in a bit less sweet way in Stagg jr. batch 10 (126,4 proof). If anyone reading this gets what I mean, I'd be grateful for an advice what I could mean 😅 Thanks in advance
I just opened an Old Grand Dad BIB from 1972. Distilled in 72 bottled in 1980. OMG. It's got a musty funky note to it but the palate is heaven! Nothing I have tried comes close. It's so smooth I don't get any ethanol ding it's just caramel and fruit and a little funk but not a bad funk. A pleasant funk that compliments the experience. Is there anything I can find on the shelf that compares?
I believe that i may do a full flight of 2020, 2021 and the 2 of 2022 so far. I love it that the Lumberyard won that blind flight. I will always have the Bookers vertical on my shelf.. great video!! I agree with Sara, that was way too much on the final reaction by Chad... 🤣🤣🤣
Found a bottle of Lumberyard Batch last Sunday at a Costco near me. It was the last bottle. I never get that lucky. Great review. Looking forward to popping the cork on my bottle soon.
Whoa! Great timing as I have a Booker’s “final” blind tasting tonight. Lumberyard made it easily. But so did Boston, which most people seem to dislike, so who knows. I sure have liked Lumberyard so far though, with tasting notes similar to yours.
Boston batch is the best i have had so far! Super good! Tasted like peanuty mini donuts brown sugar greatness! I grabbed a few Lumberyards because I got lucky enough to buy them. Im waiting untill my mouth heals to pop them since I just had a couple teeth pulled. Im such a huge fan of the distillery, I bought a Little Book Chapter 6
Would be curious to see how 2022-02 stands up against Country Ham (if you still have some around). If you need a sample for comparison, I still have some left for sampling purposes.
I loved how surprised you both were with each reveal. 🤣 I've been on the lookout for the 2022-02 but I haven't found it for under $130 which I'm not willing to pay....but maybe after this flight fight I should reconsider. I have a unopened kitchen table I'm saving for a special occasion.
Whiskey distribution is so weird in my Rea of Aurora Co I would say distribution is poor maybe poor plus but I just found the Lumberyard batch and they had 2 so I grabbed both😂
Awesome video and as always, great Flight Fight! Sadly I cannot purchase anything but the "01" batch each year up here in Canada. Odd. Thanks for your thoughts!
Ok if you had enough $ for one but not both, which would you choose? Bookers 22-02 or an ECBP A122? Is it fair to ask with such different profiles? Both are same price by the way
Could it be that the older bottles have been opened for a long while, and the oxidation has eventually gotten the better of them? They do change over time with oxidation, but hardly anyone is talking about it, or taking that into consideration when tasting them. What gives?
The only one I've been able to pick up was the Pigskin Batch. I have 2 bottles. I've got a store that has 2022-01 but I don't want to drop $95 for a bottle that I don't hear good things about. Now I'll be looking for 2022-02.
I only have two Bookers (by choice) and they are both 2018 Kitchen Tables... I'm glad to see it picked at all to be in the flight, even more that it got 2nd! Although that cements the fact that im just not a Bookers guy, because i dont like it at all 😂 to me it just tastes like super dry and salty peanut skins. It was my intro into cask strength stuff and i enjoyed it back then, but 4 years later its just not my jam.
Boggles our minds. If you like what Booker's tastes like, or is supposed to taste like, that is, then we don't see why Lumberyard Batch wouldn't be liked.
Thanks for nothing Chad & Sara. Because of your review I have to leave work early and get a 2022-02 Bookers before everyone sees this and they sell out 🙂
I got last year’s Bardstown batch but I’m not in a hurry to run out and buy another bookers. The price point is just too much for me. I’d rather buy a knob creek single barrel.
Lumberyard is getting very polarizing reviews. Multiple people said lumberyard tastes like whiteboard markers and was much worse than 1. Now multiple people have said its deep and rich and nutty. Hard to tell who ill agree with.
Wow, that's crazy! I don't see how anyone that likes the Booker's profile could think Lumberyard is bad, unless somehow they got a bad bottle or something. Lumberyard is pure Booker's.
This is so conflicting. Erik and Perry and the guys were decidedly not fans of Lumberyard. You guys are buying extra; they aren't recommending anyone buy it at $100. I'll probably still skip it because at that price point I need to know it's worth it.

I liked the Lumberyard batch so well, that I bought a backup bottle. It’s always good to get someone you trust to verify your results. Thanks!
Thanks for your thoughts and concerns. I picked up a 2022-02 for $79 the other day at a NorCal Costco. I feel lucky that they still pop up at a reasonable price occasionally in my box store.
The last batch here in Germany was 2021-01 is Sold out
Hope we see some bottles in this year from 2022 Season
Bought the Lumberyard for 80 €
Love it

Bardstown Batch was my favorite since country ham!
Wow, that's a bold statement. Country Ham was incredible
Yeah I love Bardstown. I did a blind flight with that and 3 other booker’s and it came out #1 for everyone, even over kitchen table
@@Sq4410 ok. I have one at home, so I'll be opening it soon!
This bottle was slept on HARD. One of the few 2021 bottles I grabbed a backup of.
Put country ham in that lineup
We liked a 50/50 blend of Country Ham and Beaten Biscuits better than either by themselves.
Great review! Going to have to turn on the chase for this one....
Great news as I picked up a Lumberyard when I was looking for a Kentucky Tea.
Just got Lumberyard today, I was on the watchout since I saw this video.

Very cool video glad I found you guys! 🤗
Thanks! Glad you did, too.

O Bookers, where art thou? It seems that it is right here. Finally! Your reactions are priceless - or $100.
Booker's hit a HR on this batch!! It's phenomenal from the nose, palate, and finished, it's a wonderful whiskey!! 👏
Is a new proof hound a proof puppy? I’ll see my way out now… On another note, picked up a 2022-02 today and looking forward to cracking it open!
I believe that i may do a full flight of 2020, 2021 and the 2 of 2022 so far. I love it that the Lumberyard won that blind flight. I will always have the Bookers vertical on my shelf.. great video!! I agree with Sara, that was way too much on the final reaction by Chad... 🤣🤣🤣
ITs so funny to watch this episode after Drums and Drams ripped 2022-02 apart earlier this week.
Can't wait to try my bottle! It will be my first Bookers.
Found a bottle of Lumberyard Batch last Sunday at a Costco near me. It was the last bottle. I never get that lucky. Great review. Looking forward to popping the cork on my bottle soon.
Any consideration for those older bottles being open for (presumably) so long, compared to a "fresher" bottle affecting results?
Glad I picked up a bottle of 2022-02 the first time I saw it. Now you can’t find them in my area. This seems like a special bottle!
Great flight guys! Could it be that Booker's might flatten out with time, and 2022 was just more vibrant and drank a bit better?
Thanks for the review 🥃 I wish Booker's was more consistent and their process

I would like to see a bookers blind with a knob Creek store pick in the mix.
2019-03 Country Ham is the Booker's to Judge from recent batches. 2022-02 is a Start of a Good Bottle so let's see how the end of year goes.
Would be curious to see how 2022-02 stands up against Country Ham (if you still have some around). If you need a sample for comparison, I still have some left for sampling purposes.
Oh no. It was critical to have country ham in this flight :/
We liked a 50/50 blend of Country Ham and Beaten Biscuits better than either by themselves.
Great reactions. Too funny.

Got it for 100 and found another for 80 at Costco. Sort of glad I managed to get it this year.
I think this video was worth it just for Sara’s facial expression when Chad drops a “gimme dat B!” into the discussion.
Still looking for the ‘22. Managed to get two of the ‘21s, but ‘22 bottles have never reared their head around here.
Whiskey distribution is so weird in my Rea of Aurora Co I would say distribution is poor maybe poor plus but I just found the Lumberyard batch and they had 2 so I grabbed both😂
Luckily the Costco near me still releases them for 79.99. I've really enjoyed the Lumberyard Batch.
Awesome video and as always, great Flight Fight! Sadly I cannot purchase anything but the "01" batch each year up here in Canada. Odd. Thanks for your thoughts!
Country ham is the best bookers that I can remember
Ok if you had enough $ for one but not both, which would you choose? Bookers 22-02 or an ECBP A122? Is it fair to ask with such different profiles? Both are same price by the way
Oh, too hard to pick just one. Both are so different! Really depends on which you’re in the mood for.

Silkier, Richer, Butteryier! We can rebuild it! Make it better then before! This is the 6 Million dollar Bookers!
The only one I've been able to pick up was the Pigskin Batch. I have 2 bottles. I've got a store that has 2022-01 but I don't want to drop $95 for a bottle that I don't hear good things about. Now I'll be looking for 2022-02.
When did they start releasing Bookers?

It's funny how polarizing Lumberyard batch is. I enjoy it quite a bit, but many reviewers out there think it is a miss.

It needs time and air.
@@0529mpb i mean i havent bought a bookers since 2018 because i refuse to pay over 60 for it, just interesting to see the difference in reviews

That whiskey wu tang shirt is cool
Haha! The one I have wins!
Rock on
Got one need Lent to be over! 😢

I don’t understand people not liking lumberyard I bought 3 mf bottles of it best bookers I’ve had
Some bottles have an off taste that clears up with time and air. Corked?
Need to advocate for GRANNY
She is so pretty
Sorry. Lumber batch is exactly like it sounds. It’s a woody mess. Not quite garbage. But close. To each their own…..
