Spent a lot of time carving gills and Gill rakers and plates and I have to agree with you that it is somewhat of a waste of time.... but when it's done in great detail...it is something right? Do you honestly think it makes a difference?
Very cool! I'd like to see a wake to very shallow diving, crippled Shad that lays and swims on it's side rather than up right. We see Shad get injured going though discharge tubes on the local impoundment and they can't upright them self. So they floop and dart around on their sides. And the big Wipers eat um by the buckets.
Great looking bait...very nice technique !!! Good to see a reasonable size wake bait... there are many that are way too big for my taste and almost like casting a fireplace log !!! Your videos are always 👍👍👍
It came out real nice 👌 great action on that lure 👍 sadly for me top water fun is over until May... But autamn cold will make the big ones eat up before the winter 💪
Another great video Franco. I prefer knuckle joints over v-groove slots because it does provide more action. The tail can roll around instead of being limited to medial/lateral movement.
Great work my friend!! Crazy that I just finished a wake bait myself with a very similar design! Here in Eastern Washington state the smallmouth are slamming topwater right now so this bait should do very well!
Ok Franco. You’ve insured me. It’s cool enough in the shop to begin lure building again. I find it much faster and easier to control carving when using chisels, a coarse half round file, and a narrow strip of emory for initial shaping. I just don’t feel like I have the same control with the belt sander.
Looks like a winner! I gotta try that kind of joint, what gauge wire do you use for the pin? I assume it’s stainless steel? Excellent finish on that one too. Thanks as always!
What UV light source do you use? I use the same resin as you but the only way I can get it to not stay tacky is putting it in the sun. I have tried a few different UV lights all with the same results.
New to the channel and I have been wondering, how many joints can you put in a lure before it stops working? I have seen and "made" a double but can you do triple or more? I figured you were the guy to ask more than anyone else.
It depends if it is a Is simple swim bait or if it's a crankbait with a dive bill . With a dive bill, it usually does not benefit from having more than one joint. Extending many joints on a regular swim bait will shift most of the action to the tail. You should watch this video. th-cam.com/video/CwW8lUuexYA/w-d-xo.html
@@EngineeredAngler Thank you I will try. Do you also have colors from createx or vallejo? A seller told me that the createx colors are like rubber and are more for textiles 🤷♂️
Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply. I’m on v5 of a rat wake bait right now and while my previous lips have worked just fine (cut lexan) they’re not as pretty as the machine cut ones. Do you mind if I ask where you got it from? I saw barrows and lure build online had them in various sizes and thicknesses
Right on man!! Always love the vids. 🤙🎣 Hey I’m headed down to the Gathering 3 swimbait expo this weekend.. will have my boothe set up “Secret Swimbaits” come check it out if you’re there 👍 If not, would love to get in touch after. I live in St Pete. Tight lines brother 🎣
You are the best educator. Congratulations
I wondered about a jointed wake bait and the video popped up in my feed. Cool.
That looks irresistable.
Might be my favorite bait you have made yet
Thanks
Amazing paint job on this one.
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice Franco! Like the action!
Wow absolutely beautiful craftsmanship. The Maine Smallies would go nuts.
Thanks God that I have retired some years ago so I have lot of time now to realise Your ideas !!
Wonderful!
I need to get one of the two sided clamps I see a lot of guys with. Mostly for painting but for other processes as well. Thanks
Great job great ideas, love your videos. Thanks.
Wow that came up really nice, great action to, great job 👌👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Stepped your paint game up beautiful job brother!

Excellent looking bait brother.
Thanks 👍
I always enjoy watching your videos Francisco! I always take away something. Thanks for making these videos. I can't wait for the next one brother.
Thank you.
Another amazing lure. 👊🏻
Thanks 👍
Another great lure and video as usual mate 👍👊
Thank you
Wow!… beautiful paint job!..excellent action…🤙
Thank you.
That's the best way of making a joint that I've seen.
Thanks...I think so too.
Lovely action on this lure!

Very sophisticated! Cheers!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great looking little wakebait!! Always enjoy the videos!
Thanks

Your videos are always 👍👍👍
🤣
Meus parabéns esta isca artificial artesanal ficou perfeita parece peixe de verdade .
Nice work man! I am in the same boat with work on the house.
I will definitely be making one of these to try on the schoolie stripers in the back bays!
Best of luck.

Beautiful lure! My pops used to say fishing lures are made to catch the fisherman first.
This lure you made looks real good!
Thanks 👍
I'm going to try to make one of these!
Great looking lure and you’re paint job is outstanding! 🙂
Thank you.
@@EngineeredAngler Oops...“your”. 🙂
Nice bait. You should make a mouse like this. Great action.
Great idea
Really nice paint job. Probably one of the best you've done
Wish the video had been a bit longer though...
Longer?... that's funny so many want short videos. Longer is definitely easier. Thank you for the feedback. I do appreciate it.
@@EngineeredAngler Most people have short attention spans...
I'd rather see an in depth build. That's just me though.
Awesome video! Been getting into lure making a few of your videos have helped a bunch!
Glad to hear it
Really proud of how your painting skills have improved. This one turned out great!
Thanks

Thanks
Pretty awesome. Thanks for the great content. I’ll have to make something similar as my next project. I haven’t tried a joint like that yet.
Do it, they work.
Great video, and that paint job was impressive! Do you still use the same epoxy as a topcoat?
Yes I do!

Sure...the belt sander takes a bit of finesse. The most important thing is to know when to stop. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
excelente señuelo
👍
Franco get out of my head man! I just started designing one of these, you rock man.
Thanks, good luck with yours.
I wonder can you make these wood bait suspending? That would be pretty cool.
Sure suspending is very doable.

365 to 395nm wavelength and as high wattage as you can get. Be sure the lure is close to the light source. A few inches makes a big difference.

That's the next lure I'm making
How do you get the uv to dry I have tried loads and different light nothing .
here's a playlist of my UV resin videos...you should be able to find useful info. Cheers.

Hi. Can you tell me what size needle you use to airbrush your bait? Thank you very much.
I mostly use a 0.3mm but I keep a brush set up with a 0.5mm for spraying my mid-coat or odd paints that need the larger needle.
@@EngineeredAngler Thank you I will try. Do you also have colors from createx or vallejo? A seller told me that the createx colors are like rubber and are more for textiles 🤷♂️
the UV resin actually holds the pin well enough?
Absolutely, there are no forces to push it out since the pin is only seeing shear forces.
Can you share the still image in the water?
Where do you buy the wood pieces you use.
I'm lucky that I can source the wood from fallen trees on my property...but I have bought cedar from local lumber yards
did you cut your bill, or order it?
I think that one was one I bought

I might try to make it.
Isn't that in Virginia?
@@EngineeredAngler Yes it’s in VA.. I figured there may be a chance you had already planned on going
You should wear a mask when sanding. good vid otherwise.
I should! Thank you.
