This is arguably the best song on the album. Wicked solo by Dave which shows off his unique speed and skill and a super underrated bass line by Ellefson. Never gets the attention it deserves.

The whole album is a masterpiece but this is definitely in the top 4 of this album

This album is cracked, imo every song is at the very least an 7.5 or 8, and will stand on this one as of the best off the album

The PMRC...mothership of Tipper Gore, AL Gore's wife. The song Hook in Mouth addresses this perfectly

Megadeth have 16 studio albums and 1 EP.
Killing is my Business... And Busines is Good! Is first.
Peace Sells... But Whose Buying?! is the second.
So Far, So Good... So What?! was third.
Rust in Peace is the fourth.
Countdown to Extinction is the fifth.
    Youthanasia is the sixth.
Hidden Treasures is their only EP
    Cryptic Writing is the Seventh
The System Has Failed is the tenth.
    Endgame is the twelfth
    Dystopia is the fifteenth
The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead! is the sixteenth and most recent.
Those are in my opinion the ones to listen to.. The others you can get into if you want some deeper cuts from less successful musical periods.
Cant go wrong with the albums listed. All are good top to bottom.
Megadeth was born in 1983.. It has a new album planned to be recorded around the end of this year early next year..
The last 2 Megadeth albums have easily been their most successful since Youthanasia both commercially and with fans. Both albums have gone back to back top 3 when released as well.. Where many Metal artists see their sales decline relatively to over the years between release Megadeth actually grew in that market.
There is barely a handle of artists that have whethered the sort of decline of audience size when making physical sales. As well as grow their digital presence on places like Spotify and Apple Music.. iTunes.. Ect.
They are currently on a huge headlineing tour.. Just completed a soldout run of South America.. Doing a run of North America now.. You should get tickets.. They are unbelievably tight live they always put on an amazing show.

      @@THENOBODIESREACTS I mentioned 12.. That's Endgame.
I just named the ones most would consider to be the note worthy albums.
      The unnamed albums are.
      Risk the eighth album.
The World Needs a Hero the ninth album.
United Abominations is the eleventh album.
      Th1rte3n is the thirteenth album.
Super Coliider is the fourteenth album.
Risk is when Megadeth took a more experimental alt rock sound.. It's a well made release. The sounds aren't bad.. But they aren't what you want from Megadeth.. Worth a curious listen, might even become a guilty pleasure. But you have to give it a chance for what it is. Kind of seperate it a bit from what came before it's adjacent to the Megadeth sound though the 90s.. A catalyst if you will for frustrations some of the more Metal fans the roots of the bands sound exploded here.. Megadeth lost a sizable potion of their audience.
The World Needs A Hero.. It's a turn around album of sorts but whilst still playing by radios rules.. The sound are more Megadeth and more Metal however it's Megadeth still playing with radio in mind.
Megadeth ended after that release and tour... The famous She-Wolf live performance is one of the last shows they did as the original run of Megadeth with it's lineup changes.. The System Has Failed followed with Mustaine reforming the band to complete the recording contract for the band and to say goodbye to it. Marty, Nick and Ellefson were approached to do a farewell tour on the release.. Nick accepted but the falling out with his tech caused him to be asked to leave..
Marty said no more money please.. Ellefson said yes but with stipulations of returning his 20% control of the band, credits and royalies on all the new songs ect.. Mustaine said nah.
Ellefson then sued Mustaine for Megadeth control.. Mustaine won that, and an appeals case. Ellefson was ordered to give up his controlling stake to Mustaine.
Megadeth was reborn with The System Has Failed.. A true return to roots Chris Poland lead guitarist on the original 2 albums KIMB and PS for short returns in studio to record the second lead work on that albums.. It feels like the 3rd album that lineup would have made if they stuck together.. Instead they made So Far, So Good... So What?!. both I mentioned previously as ones of note most fans would agree.
United Abominations... The followup to The System Has Failed and the first for this Megadeth and lineup this lineup is made up of those that completed the The System Has Failed tour.. Minus the bassist who was more of a touring bassist until a permanent could be found.. That permanent was James LoMenzo.. The man who has come to fill the shoes of David Ellefson for many fans. This is his intro album as well as then drummer Shawn Drover and his brother Glen Drover on leads. The album is solid.. It has at least 3 standout songs on it. However something about the album feels unfinished.. Like it doesn't have the second coating to really make it pop.. Its a good release just not good enough.
      Endgame was mentioned..
Th1rte3n.. A mixed album.. Again it has about 3 really good tracks on it.. But it's the first time you do get a sense of filler..
The context to that is that Mustaine had made no secret of being unhappy with the contract Megadeth had. He wished to quickly wrap it up and move on to better greener fields.. Roadrunner was the label btw.. They agreed that Mustaine could include unofficially released B-Sides and Demos as full studio release tracks.. And 13 songs were constructed.. About half the album is original stuff. The other half are singles, demos fully recorded or unreleased cuts from the previous 2 albums (United Abominations and Endgame).
      Like I said.. Mixed..
Super Collider.. This for many is the newer Risk album.. It's a bit experimental it trys some new more radio friendly structures.. It's the first album of another 3 album label deal with Universal Music.. Mustaine was given his own imprint there with full control over his projects.
I personally think it's Megadeths weakest release.. Risk is a better thought though album and the songs are more professionally constructed.. But they aren't bad.. Just average.. It has a decent 3 songs.. But that's about it.. Again have to be a super fan or curious after listening to the older stuff.
What followed Super Collier however was Dystopia and The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead! Which have single handedly leapfrogged Megadeth back into the arms of those that fell of in the mid 90s with the music shift.
Both albums are top tier releases in their career.. Their is great excitement for where they will go now.. As both releases have displayed a sense of understanding what made the band special in the first place for a lot of fans.. Both releases went to number 3 in the US charts on release.. Back to back. Something Megadeth didn't even do during their peak in the late 80s early 90s.. So Megadeth are on fire and are back in a very good creative place and have been for 10 years now.. The magic is back in the music where it was lacking in the previous decade.
For me personally Endgame album falls into the camp of less notable.. Like United Abominations before it, it seems to lack the second go over to polish it up and make the songs get their hooks in you.. Much of the music released after The System Has Failed is just not quite there.. But with Dystopia onwards that phase has past.
In short... Better band members.. With better creative input that works for the band not off in their own world wanting to play death core riffs in Megadeth.. No the band has the right minded people in it today and it's worked very well in the creative space.
Keeping the band relevant in a way that very few legacy acts can achieve.. Megadeths performance as of the last decade has been about on par with their peak of old.. Dave Mustaine never quits he's been up and down.. But he's figured it out now.. He's gotten Megadeth back in the big leagues again and won back the old fans now to..
Recently Marty played with the band at two special one off shows.. Megadeth is a forward moving band.. It's never stopped to look back and rest on it's older work.. For Mustaine the whole point is to make great music and consistently express that..
Album number 17 is currently being teased.. As I believe I mentioned before the lead player of Dystopia and The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead! Whose name is Kiko left the band..
He wished to raise his children instead.. However he picked and trained up Teemu who was his tour replacement until Kiko decided fully to commit to being a father first.
Teemu has been with the band about 9 months now as of this post.. He's proven himself at around 40 shows now. He's very capable and has brought something new to the creative table that has Mustaine excited to write.. Mustaine actually hasn't really written on the road or anything in a little while.
Instead they would collect clips of themselves humming riffs, or bass lines or beats.. Record them quickly on a nearby instrument or something and then store them.. Then go in studio and piece a song out of that.. So this is a break from that.. Teemu is highly detailed and wants to make a Rust in Peace type record where they burn it up. Mustaine loves the fast stuff..
Teemu also being details focused has allowed him to learn songs very well quickly also so new songs are already rotating into the sets now live as they were seeming to be playing the same set every night with minor changes. Thats the trouble with having so many hits though.. Everyone wants the hits.. Super fans want a deep cut from something like Th1rte1n lol..
Long comment is long but I've given you a blast course on the Megadeth albums from my perspective and the wider fans perspective generally..
They are my favourite band and have been since 02.. They have no bad albums but they do have some albums that are weaker than most.
But they remain unrived by their fellow Thrash bands.. Mustaine remains the pioneering force for their Sub-Genre we call Thrash Metal/Speed Metal.

@THENOBODIESREACTS I'm just a highly knowledgeable fan, I know a lot about the band and it's history down to small details.. I would probably fit the biggest fan catalogue simply because I'm probably the most knowledgeable in the fandom.. Not that anyone will ever really know that because I don't seek to advertise it.
But being as keyed in as I am with what's going on with the band I've had some interesting people reach out to me personally and talk to me.. People within the circle let's say.
Which I wasn't expecting.. I've made no effort to ever contact anyone in the camp past or present.. Me being very.... Observant didn't go unnoticed by however. 😉 Not that I would ever spill.

Ellefson's bass isn't this loud on the record. But I really don't mind here. It sounds cool with his bass part cranked up.
