His jersey should be in the rafters. He won 2 cups and was a monster on defense as well as being the scariest player on a breakaway for many years.
Really gonna miss him... He will always be my favorite Red Wing.
And he's still playing in Russia in 2021 as far as I know.

He's a very smart and kind man when he's speaking his native language.
Dats loves his soccer and he usually goes out in the hallways or outside the back of the rink (when I saw him in AZ) to play a kind of pick-up game with Flips, similar to HORSE (basketball). When he cracked on Flips in this interview is was hilarious to him because he OWNS Valteri in that game. Kind of an inside joke for him. His accent is charming. He speaks quickly and likes to wisecrack. Considering his talent, it's obvious he puts more time into working on his skills than his diction. A++

@ImKoolWithThis Points are good yes, but they really don't say anything about overall ability. Datsyuk ranks at the top of the league in takeaways pretty much every year. For Datsyuk to be so good defensively as well as post 70+ points a season, that's pretty impressive. Crosby's good but he needs to get back on defense. Far too often you see him just chilling at the red line. I would take Datsyuk over Crosby any day.
Oh yeah. Hopefully one day. When I was little, like 4 or 5, I got a picture taken with Yzerman, but I was too little to understand the awesomeness that is hockey. I wish I could relive that day now! Lol.

Right. That's exactly my point. And as a native English speaker learning Russian, the two have very little in common especially in terms of structure which is why it would make it even harder for him to learn it.
@ImKoolWithThis Not me, man. Datsyuk would be my first choice. Best puck handler in the league and one of the elite defensive forwards, dominating takeaways every game. But, I kind of agree with you: I don't like Crosby either, but you can't deny the numbers he puts on the stat sheet.

@Vertigo919 Im a die hard stars fan and cant stand the red wings lol but i love datsyuk, Hes such a classy low key guy. Hands down more skill the crosby or ovi, if datsyuk had ovi's shot hed litteraly be unstopable. Also pavel doesnt dive like crosby and ovi which i respect him for that.
We got some good offense but with lidstrom gone (i miss him so much, hes my idol) we need some defense. hopefully babcock pulls a future all star rookie defense men next year.

Try learning Russian and you'll understand why it's so hard to pick up English as a Russian. Not only that, but you probably would end up in the same position as Dastyuk were the tables turned.
@emotaco9 English is the hardest language to learn. We have rules but no rules at the same time. Some words might mean 10 different things.

Clearly you didn't read the comment I was responding to. The person Nashrox61 said that the only Red Wing he respects is Pavel Datsyuk. And I said how can you JUST respect Pavel when they have people like Z, Steve, and Lidstrom that deserve just as much respect. THAT'S what I was saying. I already know Lidstrom and Yzerman are retired. Not sure why you commented what you did.
English it is not needed. Now there is a need - he must know something. Contract expires, he will be back home in two years no one will remember not the words of English. It does not deal with disrespect, he just Russian guy and his future to the Russian - English Why should he?

@wiseGUY1288 Actually English is one of the easiest languages in the world to learn. I speak Czech also, which is one of the hardest, and there are so many more complicated things that you wouldn't even think of because they don't exist in English, such as declensions. Obviously no language is "easy" to learn. You say some words might mean 10 different things, that's in every language. Hard part in other languages is grammar and so many different tenses etc. English grammar= relatively easy
