Im doing the same thing in my 2012 f250, I can feel a the wobble not really bad, but i want to fix it before it gets worse ,would this really help? Thanks for showing how to get this done great video.
The beautiful bilstein looks out of place with all the rust but you made my decision on getting one myself on my not that rusted southern 2005 Ford f250 super duty truck
He got the 5100 series and it's quite a bit beefier than stock which is really good, I'm about to do the same change on my truck and I'm interested to see if there is any change
@@hoosierLowe so I replaced all the shocks with Bilstein and the ride quality definitely improved, then I replaced the front dampener with a 5100 series and I didn't feel any difference which is good, I didn't want heavier steering from the beefier shock.
@@hoosierLowe oh and my truck is an 2008 so the same setup suspension wise and chassis wise as your 2016, so I would think you would enjoy the shocks, apart from looks which I really like, I also just liked the improved peace of mind and ride quality
I have a 2017 f450 and as far as I can tell when trying to buy one for my truck they don't make any so it stops at f350 due to the f450 having a wider front end making for tighter turns than the f250 and f350. If you know were I can get one that fits please let me know. Thanks
@@endurancekennels they are company specific torque specs. I found the bilstein is 67ft/lb Upper, 26ft/lb Lower. Rancho directions say 35ft/lb on both for their stabilizer. Strange.
Your rusty truck makes me feel good about my rusty truck! Thanks again for the info!
I was thinking the same.
99 problems but Rust ain't one.
I don't laugh at TH-cam videos like at all, but the way you said, ooh ribbed for pleasure on her side, caught me absolutely off guard lmao
I love how we go from hammer hammer hammer on the pickle fork to bam it's in. lol
That's how I roll 😎
Lol I can’t get mine out for nuthin’ which is why I’m here. I like how you roll! 😎
@@mto_aerial Here for the same reason, was really hoping for some comment or tip on how to get that sucker out.... crazy frustrating
@@nknaakco3966I screwed the nut on just halfway so the puller wouldn’t slip off and used a gear puller and it came right out.
Why use an impact gun on one bolt and not the other? Should the fasteners be torqued? Thanks.
Bad angle.
Good Stuff, Great Tips👍🏿😀
Did you need an alignment after changing it?
I did not.
you use your impact driver on the bolt with more difficult access, then don't use it on the easy access bolt....what gives?
Don't want to melt the nylock

The wobble isn't from the steering damper. Could be ball joints and tie rod ends.
I know you posted this video a while ago… what kind of pry bar is that to wedge between the bolt? I cant get that out to save my life.
It's a tie rod/ ball joint fork.
Pickle fork
Step 1, the day you place the order is to spray those bolts/nuts with PB blaster or 50/50 atf acetone mix.
Basic knowledge 👍

Everything is guaranteed to rust out where we live 😂
For the love of God put some paint on these trucks if you live in a salty state! Lol
870-50 had me cracking up lol
Can you post part number or link of damper?
What size bilstein shock did you use for this replacement? How much better did it make the ride? Does it affect your towing?

Like how it said 5 minutes and then jump the video to the new damper. Being installed five minutes my ass..

Get the duck out of here that's hilarious.
Were you getting a death wobble before you changed it?
No

Interesting. Did you try Napa?
@@endurancekennels yeah, Napa can't even get me locking lug nuts for my truck
Ah man that sucks. Have you tried calling a drive line specialty shop? We have one in the neighborhood I bring my truck there for all that stuff.
@@endurancekennels I have but I'll check a
Some specialty shops and see if they can get one.
Looked like that bracket was broken. The very first bolt you took off.
Not broken
3:44 what happened lol, never showed us how you actually got it out. Thats the only reason anyone watched this. Cant just edit it out =C
Pickle fork 👌
Yeah maybe if the bolts are frozen on there it’s a quick job. But they don’t show ya when the shit gets hard.
If you bring the vehicle inside a heated garage the bolts will thaw out.
Do you use two of them or one I have 2011 f350 all stock
Just one on my truck I could see two if you do tons of off roading.
I broke that lower bolt my first time. I'd be interested in finding out what spec its supossed to be torqued down to
Ya I hear ya! Call the dealership service department they are always good with torque specs.

did you replace it for any specific reason?
The old shock was toast seals puking out it's guts.
I have a 2001 f250 super duty and it don't even a steering stabilizer on it
Dang!
Mine didn’t either
Is this a Catrina flood rescue truck?
WI originally. Lotsa salt and rust there bud!
What a cop out out cutting the video short to see how long it took for the fork to separate the shock.
Skills are free they don't cost time 😁
WT? You skipped over the removal and right into the new one being there?
I'm sure you're smart enough to figure that part out 👍
Did your truck shake alot before replacing?
No.
Washington the first time he used a ratchet?
What are the symptoms of needing to replace it? Good video.
When the old shock is blown that's when I replace them.
If you start getting “bump steer” then time to replace.
@@ricosplace1 My brand new Bilstein Steering damper bump steers so…
@@jjsemperfi
Sounds like you have some other front end problems. Time to check all your front bushings and ball joints.
What’s the part number on the shock? 5100?
I don't recall, sorry 😬
Do you think that the steering stabilizer could be causing sloppy in my 2015 4x4 F-250?
Probably not have you checked your ball joints and tie rods?
Also the steering box itself
Is your truck on jackstands? Or you just doing it while its parked?
On the ground lots of clearance if you don't mind lying on your back.
my truck has a ball joint attached to one side
Fluid film would stop all that rust.
It's Minnesota. We eat rust 👍
But did it make a difference ?
Of course.
Did you have wheels turned all the way to the left side?
No, straight
What year truck is this
2008
Wtf? You didn’t finish showing the removal?
5 minute? Not when you can’t get the old ball joint bolt out
Bummer
5 minute job my ass, I can't even get a two year old rough country steering stabilizer out of a two year old not so rusty drag link
I got skillz my friend. Skillz. 😎
Whats the part number?
Dang good question it's not OEM bought it on Amazon.
Sure take of the damper and f... the rest of the bushings lol
😬
Don’t tell us the torque specs or anything
