- While I was sick and unable to record, I decided to go through with subtitling the final song for you guys. The translation was done by yangxu of GameFAQs, and I couldn't reach him to actually ask for permission to use his translation, so if he requests, I will end up taking this down. He did a walkthrough that you can find there that may help you in ways that my playthrough did not, so check it out if you need more help.
This game never dies in my heart..
I would like to subtitle some of the other songs, but I can't find translations of them to do them like this. Still, I agree that Sky 1 is the best the series has had to offer to date.
@@IAmTheHeroOfLight Even though I played the first two CS games first, I infinitely prefer the TitS series more. I can't even chalk it up to nostalgia so that says a lot.
There are a lot of things in the Cold Steel series I simply do not like. These games are simple and do what they do well to a very high degree.
Personally, I prefer Sky's story and character building more, and prefer Cold Steel's UI and some gameplay more. I don't know. I still love Cold Steel. It's my introduction to the series like multiple others. I think if I had to choose between the two, I'd still choose Cold Steel because more than what's mechanically better, or how well the story's written, there's a sort of personal value as well. I'm kind of bad at noticing bad mechanics unless it's real glaring, so I can't say whether any of the games were better on that front or not.
It didn't bother me, but I'd love to hear the Sky trilogy more voiced. Not sure if I'd want the same voice actor for Olivier as it was in the Sky trilogy, or his current one because it's Matt Mercer. And that alone makes me want a Sky game with voiced dialogue. Troy Baker's good too.

Man, after the ending of FC and this played, I felt empty in my heart after that last event.
Luckily the Sky trilogy is complete so you can hop into the next game and not have to wait like the rest of had to.
Story time:
My cousin was the one who introduced me to the series, I being impatient asked him if it was going to be a basic ending. He just told me to play the game.
I an glad he did, because this ending hits you like a truck and is something you can only experience once.
I was so shocked that I asked him if I did something wrong, he told me no that was the ending.
I love this series and be happy that I was told to play it.
It is a little hard to believe that out of all the platforms Falcom could make this for, they chose the PSP. For that reason alone, the game initially bombed and we may never have gotten any more of them, let alone have the series at the success it currently holds. Luckily, Xseed got this over to the PC and everyone could play it and let it become a flagship series in the west.

@@pokeboi5438 Nope, it has a physical PSP version that came first. It bombed so bad the series was scrapped until they ported it to PC to try to recoup the translation costs. On PC, it was a smash hit and brought the rest of the franchise over. To date, Sky FC is the only game in the original trilogy to have a physical release, and due to the fallout between XSeed and Falcom, we will probably never get a physical trilogy of them. It was due to Sky FC's PC success that Falcom is making PC ports of all of their games going forward.
@@IAmTheHeroOfLight no they’re right, the original Japanese release was on PC in 2004, the PSP port came out in 2006 because of the decline of PC gaming in japan.
This will forever be my favourite game.
It set a high water mark the rest of the series has failed to achieve
just finished this yesterday and started SC right away.
Just be aware that the harder difficulties are really bad to start fresh games on. The balance over all takes a hit in all the sequel games, and SC is probably the worst offender of the bunch.

@@IAmTheHeroOfLight exactly, the devs should put the translation in the game because it is a very crucial ending so the player needs to understand it in some ways.

@@H2O_Addict Well, I didn't translate it myself, I just did the typesetting for someone else's translation.
I am not sure why they didn't do something (they never translated any songs to date), since they bothered getting the song at all, which is usually the hard part when it comes to licensing. That is why a lot of Japanese games have to have special overseas soundtracks.
I fell in love with legend of heroes with Trails in the Sky 1. It was confirmed with Sky 2.
None of the sequels dispoint me so far. It's one of my favorit franchise (with Ys) by far.
But Trails in the Sky 1/2 will always be my first love and will always have a special place for me.

I was playing Cold Steel III and in Chapter 4 if you complete the hidden quest for the Rieveldt Shop, a music box version of this song plays
I think I did all of the side quests in all of the games with the exception of one in Sky 2. I just didn't show the music box stuff on its own since I was uploading videos in blocs at the time.

I think the game came out before that point in Naruto, so Sasuke may have pulled a Joshua
The game came out in 2004 while Naruto started in 1999.Not sure if sasuke had left the village at that point though
To make things more complicated, the question would be if this part was already written when that part of the manga was released. Unless the writer has said something, we may never know.

this touching story even lasts in the zero and azure series, with thr power of controlling all the causality and its result, so touching and reversed story based on the full of sadness story that we even can't hate the enemies. so touching

I knew the ending was coming my first time through, and I still cried. The only other RPG in recent memory that's made me feel close to this was Trails of Cold Steel 2, also at the ending, before the epilogue. People who've played it know what scene I'm talking about.
I could not feel the same for Cold Steel 2, because I knew once Osbourne was back, almost anyone would be coming back behind him.

What scene are you talking about, as vid op noted Osbourne coming back, and I guess the revelation of Rean's heritage? Yeah that did nothing close to what the Sky FC cliffhanger did to me.
I've played every Trails game and many moments have brought me to tears but the only ones that truly stick out in my memory, mainly because of the songs that are attached to them, are this one and the normal ending for CS4. The song that plays during that sequence is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard and I won't spoil anything here but the events of that scene along with everyone's reaction to them in tandem with the music might be the most heartwrenching thing I've ever seen in a video game. But if I was to go back and just watch the voiced dialogue or read text without the context of finishing a massive story it won't hit the same. These songs will always hit me in the feels hard enough to get a tear out of me though, and maybe it's because the (fake) end of cs2 doesn't hit like these 2 tracks that it didn't resonate with me.

I'm hoping when Trails to Black finally comes out it is a move more toward this than the direction Cold Steel was going. Sadly, with the action battle system, I am extremely skeptical.
Just beat the trilogy a week ago to prep for cold steel 3, this series is underrated
I liked the series until Cold Steel happened. If Cold Steel is going to set the vibe and tempo for the rest of the series, I will be giving up on it. Right now, I am hoping for a proper translation of Zero and Azure, otherwise I will have to do my fan-translation of Azure to wrap up Crossbell.
TheHeroOfLight What do you find wrong with the mechs exactly? I saw your other comment and it seemed like the mechs where your main problem with the game. As someone who has played the first three cold steel games I don’t see a problem with them but I guess that is just me.
@@Wallie33. The mech combat system is very under developed for one. Lore-wise, we don't get any mention of them beyond Pater-Mater in Sky, until the Aions appear in Azure. Essentially, we go from there being 4 of them to almost everyone and their grandma having one in the span of somewhere around 2 game years.
Beyond this, I just think it feels like they are trying to jam in sci-fi elements into a fantasy realm, but it looks more like they are doing a convert-to-anime checklist based off other choices made in the Cold Steel series.
TheHeroOfLight I don’t know about you but since in trails in the sky we got mention of the Pater Mater and in the other games we got the Aions etc it feels more to me like the series has been foreshadowing the mechs since the beginning. And I mean even if it was developed in only two games it is still a good amount of development. In other type of series this would probably have developed in only one game instead.
@@Wallie33. On the flip side, look at how much time actually elapsed between all of these games. 2 years for them to go from being completely absent to so damn prevalent? Ace pilots appear literally out of nowhere?

I think the series tries to be a little too upbeat for that type of thing. Sure, Loewe and Crow bite the bullet, but they weren't exactly given that much depth in the games compared to the other characters. And you don't really learn more about Loewe until after his death.
Still one of my fave psp jrpg (the other one is Star ocean second evo)
I picked up Star Ocean 1 on Switch and am hoping the 2nd one makes it over. I have it on PS1, but I'd like a version with a better translation and less glitches.

Huh? Cold steel? What's that? And is there another way to get it? I do not want it digitally, i want it in an hardware PsP or any other PlayStation Hardware form = o
+Christin Eleven Sky 2nd and 3rd chapters will not be given physical releases, only digital. If you want a physical copy, you'd have to import a Japanese version, but I'm not sure how many of those are still in circulation, so it could be kind of expensive.
As for Cold Steel, if you think of Sky First Chapter as the 1st game, Trails of Cold Steel would be the 6th. It takes place in Erebonia and has cameo appearances from Olivier at different parts. It's available for PS3 and PS Vita, both as digital and physical. If you want to see what it is like, I have the entire game uploaded here on the channel, and Cold Steel 2 is coming out in September. If you are interested, you should be able to pick it up and beat it in time to carry over your save data in September if you want to pick it up at launch.
There are 2 Trails games in Crossbell (those would be the 4th and 5th games in the series) that haven't even been talked about regarding translation and being brought west, so we'll have to wait awhile on those. Unfortunately, those will most likely be digital only as well.
Hmm why? = ( (only digital...) Is it true that there will be a 3 D vversion of Trails in The Sky? And can i get it at least on the PsP or the Ps3 / 4? (The digital) = / (and most important: In English?)
+Christin Eleven The version of Trails in the Sky you see here is the only one that you can get. There is a Chinese version with new features, but it is exclusive to China (not sold anywhere else in the world). Trails in the Sky Second Chapter is available in English on the Playstation store, but you will need either a PSP, PSV, or PSTV in order to play it since it is a digital only game. Third Chapter is in the process of being translated, but it will not be coming out this year.
If you are willing to jump to the 6th game, Trails of Cold Steel is on PS3 and PSV/PSTV. You can buy a physical copy of it or you can buy a digital one through the Playstation store. It is in English, and when Cold Steel 2 is released in September, it will be in English too. Cold Steel 3 is still being worked on, so we won't be seeing it for a few years, and the 9th Trails game has yet to be revealed, but is suspected to be in Calvard (where Zane is from).
All of the English Trails games are on this channel if you want to look at any of them before you buy them. Currently that is only 3 games, but in September, it will be going up to 4.
