The real mystery to me about that zelda timeline is why there isnt a line connecting botw and totk… could it be that there is gonna be something in the middle???
The Zelda timeline for BOTW and TOTK Feels like a cop out. Like they couldn't be bothered to put the games in the timeline proper so they just said "Oh this is separate!"
This being Transformers 40th Anniversary and Hasbro’s push for the studio series WFC toys it’s pretty easy to deduce that the two games Activision published would be rereleased. Those along with Devastation as a bundle would make many fans happy. As you said include some solid online play for each game and you have yourself some games worth revisiting.
Appaarently Jon missed out on playing the GREATEST Transformers game of them all, being Transformers Armada (PS2). The graphics/cutscenes/gameplay of that game on THAT particular system were *mind-blowing* for me at that time (it really looked *ahead of its time* compared to all other PS2 games).
The fun thing about Zelda being able to use "Sword Form" is that it's basically an inversion of roles. Link can use magic (older games) but it costs mana. Zelda will be able to use a sword but it will cost something, while her "spell casting" is infinite.
1:22 I understand people don't like the timeline, but you also gotta be fair when criticizing it, this is a misconception people bring up and it's wrong: Nintendo ALWAYS had a timeline in mind, from the beginning, if you look at interviews and/or the manuals for each game when they were released, most of them get an explanation of their placement. This was before Hyrule Historia when they decided to reveal it entirely to the public, and before BotW/TotK which took a different route with the placement thing. If you're interested, I recommend the video "the Zelda timeline is misunderstood" by LUVIIKUU
I am *very* skeptical about that emudeck crowdfunding. No prototype is a dealbreaker, I will wait until its out and completed, by that time there will be competition too.
The only company that actually pull it of was Atari and that's becasue while they don't have the infraestructure to compare to their rivals or in the past they still have capital.
Not really. Anyone who isn't interested in the timeline really shouldn't be making bold statements like Spawnwave did in this video. BotW/TotK are not in their own timeline. BotW has appeared exactly the same as it does in this "new timeline" on Nintendo's website for years, and yet the devs had said that it's still connected, just somewhere at the end.
@@slendrfrut Nah. They definitely are in their own timeline. TotK cannot rationally be reconciled with the established timeline. It cannot. Not without majorly retconning the established events. There's simply no reason to do that. It's better to be its own separate thing.
@@scythelord Yes it can. Absolutely nothing is retconned by TotK taking place in the same timeline. You realise that BotW and TotK mention the events of OoT at Zora's domain, right? In BotW Zelda mentions TP, OoT, and SS. TotK Masterworks also just released, and in it there is a small section just like in BotW Masteworks that is for the timeline we've had and received in Hyrule Historia.
Separating BOTW on the timeline has been a thing since 2017, that’s when Nintendo first added it to the timeline on their website. People reacting to it now just don’t pay attention or have terrible memories.
I think that has to do with how we expected some closure with TOTK, but it's not surprising that they would keep the new era separate either. Aonuma explained they preferred to have room for creative freedom. The new Master Works just released and they recap the timeline with no mention of older games between the genesis and the new era, mentioning the new sacred relics but not the Triforce. It's meant for interpretation but that's not always a satisfying answer.
It's not a huge impact on me, but this is a cop out after the teaser that there was "evidence" in BOTW for which timeline it was in. But If this is a new timeline completely independent of the other games then Skyward Sword is with it. But they're not putting those three games together.😅 Ultimately they don't know what they're doing but they're pretending to know. Also my theory is ToTK and BoTW take place in parallel universes closely resembled, but separate from each other.
Zelda having a timeline at all is stupid af anyway. Only done to appease soy chugging nerds that want to make sense of the same story being made 1000s different ways
@@NecroBanana It's not really stupid to have a timeline because with at least 2 of the games you could tell the devs made them with a timeline in mind, the two being The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Even before the timeline was officially revealed, I knew where these two were placed because of dialogue in the games. Like when you're told Hyrule was flooded because there was no hero, and I said to myself "this is the timeline when Link was an adult in Ocarina of Time, since he's sent back in time and thus no hero" and then you play Twilight Princess and similar situation where I say to myself "this is the timeline when Link is a child and grew up because it references the past hero from Ocarina of Time". If you pay attention to details in the games, some of the games were made with a timeline in mind. That being said, for others you could tell that they were made without any thought of a timeline and Nintendo made up the placement later on, since nothing in the in-game story referenced anything.
@@tloz171nfs personally I enjoyed every single game I even had to emulate some to boost their frame rate. I enjoyed them because I know where their gameplay originated like Dynasty Warriors and Crypt of the NecroDancer. I always enjoyed the spinoffs/2d more than the main games. While we’re talking personal about John, can we take a moment to congratulate him on how much better and healthier he looks overall than he did a few years ago! Awesome self care, John!🎉

The Emudeck is an easy no for that price. If it looks like a Dreamcast, why does it need a dock? Does it not have an HDMI out? I’m clearly missing something.
If Square Enix can't even handle their own live service foamstars what makes them think they can handle a console? Hmm? Never heard of foamstars? Imagine splatoon but different.
I've always felt the Zelda timeline was completely unnecessary and just ignore it. It's okay to just retell the same story different ways when you build games of the usual quality of Zelda games, it just needs to be enough story to motivate the gameplay and it doesn't need the timeline for that.
I'm more interested when an individual Zelda game is moved to a different spot in the timeline. It usually means something new is coming. I remember when Link's Awakening was moved around in the timeline, and people were confused. We got Link's Awakening Remake a little bit after that.
16:50 - Transformers Fall of Cybertron's 360 version on Xbox Series S/X with FPS Boost would be the most amazing thing ever. I still have my original 360 disk, but I'd easily pay for another digital 360 copy to play it on my Series S.
1:58 IIRC they did state a couple times in BoTW that it took place so far in the future from the rest of the timeline that it doesnt matter which branch it is, i guess this might make it more official though
All the lawsuits going around from Nintendo I don't know if I would want to sell a system pre-loaded with any Nintendo stuff. If Nintendo is in the legal right or not is not the question the question is if you have the money to prove you are legitimate.
Two Dreamcast games I never hear about and would love to either get ports or on one of these retro systems is Omikron the Nomad Soul and Dragon Riders Chronicles of Pern.
Legend of Zelda's "timeline" never really mattered. The more they try connecting the dots, the less it needs to make sense. Moot at this point. They're self-contained story arcs at best. Ocarina just gave them the opportunity to make the canon confusing.
Since the animated Transformers movie Transformers One releases on september 26th I expect the games to be an Autobots and Decepticons version based on that movie catered towards kids, so don't expect to much of it
I also think the Zelda the timeline is an afterthought. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Every Metal Gear Solid game was supposed to be the last game, but Kojima still found a way to make it work. Half-Life games are generally made gameplay first story second. Just because it's an afterthought doesn't mean they don't put a lot of thought into it when they do think about it.
I'm surprised Transformers World 2005 doesn't know the game in development is *Transformers Reactivate.* It's been publicly announced and multiple development gameplay videos have leaked
I like to think of the Zelda timeline as every new game being a story uncovered by a historian attempting to put it all together but never having all the pieces.
Hopefully, Square Enix brings FFXIV to the Nintendo Switch’s successor. I’d buy the console if they do. Currently, I’m considering the Steam Deck or Lenovo Legion Go as a mobile solution for crafting and occasional questing during work breaks.
BotW and TotK aren't really on their own as much as they're at the end of two other timelines. I've seen multiple fan theories that basically say that the timelines are converging in BotW and TotK so this makes that seem even more likely
The Zelda timeline absolutely HAD continuity AND was retroactive... Both are true. Effectively OOT's story was trailered to resemble the Imprisoning War detailed in the prologue of Link to the Past, but as a story ABOUT time travel, the lead it to a different conclusion. By being pulled away for 7 years in stasis and freely traveling between the two fixed points, we create a world where Link and Zelda avert the war all together. Then they made Wind Waker, ALSO with a prologue that's in a similar vein as the LttP's imprisoning war, except there the hero left after succeeding. Possibly being that this might continue after Link goes back to the forest. BUT, Wind Waker didn't do so hot, so they made a grittier darker game to match OOT's more serious moments and MM, Twilight Princess. Before WW turned out to be a fluke (now cult classic), Twilight Princess's premise was to be in an entirely NEW kingdom like the king says at the end of WW. But they turned it to being a story about the kingdoms dark past... SO IT ONCE AGAIN REFERENCES OOT. And TP is the MOST direct, outright calling out that after Zelda spun time back, she told the king of Ganon's deception, and then Ganon started and more traditional war leading to his eventual execution and the exile of the Gerudo (Said exile being the key reason why four Swords Adventures is in the Child timeline if any one was confused about that). So yeah, the ending of OOT had two key but loose shared ending with timey wimey bullshit being the connecting factor, and yes, TP resulted in a retcon that made THERE timelines. However, despite Nintendos constant fumbling of the timeline, that three way split makes all there connections make MORE sense, because Ganon going to war in the child timeline makes more sense than him getting sealed away and returning. On top of that, the unique way OOT handles time travel logically creates three timelines. The original timeline (if no time travel were to have occured), then the world created when link is removed for 7 years (the one where Ganon is sealed away), and the one Zelda creates when she rolls EVERYTHING back (and link has an existential crisis becoming an unremarkable child and chasing after his fairy friend). Calling the OG timeline the "Fallen Timeline" and explaining it just as "Link fails" is... It's frankly terrible. On top of that the Fallen Timeline is also the most heavily revised cause they can't decide where Links Awakening and the Oracle games go (or if those links are the same guys are different guys)
i would love to see the High Moon "For Cybertron" games come back as well as Devastation. If i was hopeful I'd say the two projects are a combo pack of the High Moon games (ported and remastered) and a remastered port of Devastation. At the very least i want to see the High Moon games ported to current consoles, those are pretty much stuck to Xbox 360 and PS3. Atleast Devastation got onto Xbone and PS4.
Probably shouldn’t be giving Sony any ideas, and I am EXTREMELY excited for Astro Bot… However, I just saw a comment on RGTs channel “Concord should’ve used Sony IPs…” Literally got me to thinking, with all the different costumes that Astro has, why doesn’t Sony consider a “hero shooter” Splatoonesque game with Astro Bot where different costumes can give you different abilities from their first party titles? Aloy squaring off against the Hunter. Would be dope.
There is absolutely nothing in that slide that in any way invalidates what Nintendo has stated regarding breath of the wild and tears of the Kingdom occurring at the end of every time line
It has been stated over and over that botw and ToTK are so far in the future they could be in any. That is why they are "separated" from the rest of the timeline.
Yeah it makes most sense to completely remove BotW and TotK from the previous timeline. TotK itself cannot be reconciled with the original timelines at all. It just isn't possible. It cannot be the establishment of Hyrule for the first time AND feature the imprisoning war.
I quite enjoyed the demo for Inazuma Eleven Victory Road, but I didn't know they were working on a manager mode for it. I can't really stand football/soccer, but Inazuma Eleven is a pretty fun RPG and I can see myself getting really sucked into a manager mode version of it.
FF7 Rebirth is excellent, and it is a vast epic game. The production costs were enormous and dwarfed that of FF16. But FF16 sold more. If enough people don't buy FF7 rebirth for PC, Square is likely to scale back their production costs for future Games and focus on smaller budget games that can be played on the Switch 2 if it has the same massive market as the current Switch.
@@bulbasuuur8715 I did almost everything there is to do in FF7 Remake incl. Top Secrets and still felt as though it's one of the worst games I've played in a long time. "Skill" isn't an issue. I hear Rebirth is better but struggle to care since it looks like more of the same.
17:31 there's that movie coming out soon, Transformers One. There's a good chance Activision's been working on something new to coincide with it for a while
Every single Zelda game after the original was launched as a sequel or prequel for other games. The only real question was about ocarina of time, because it had 3 sequels. The first game since the original that was not a direct sequel or prequel was breath of the wild, I like to see it as a reboot, but you can blame theorists on the internet for them refusing for the first time to comment about the placement of the game. They always did it in the past.
Did Activision make the TF game from 2003 based on Armada? I loved that game growing up, especially collecting the toys and watching it on Cartoon Network. I’d love that and the first movie game. I found War for and Fall of Cybertron for $15 a piece with all books and slipcovers at one of my local game stores. In all fairness they tend to have a treasure trove of older games. Even got White Knight Chronicles and the sequel for the low.

Well, I think Zelda breath of the wild and Zelda tears of the kingdom are so far into the future that it wouldn’t make sense to connect them to either part of the timeline and that we would need several more games to be made to be able to connect them to a specific timeline

2:13 Echoes of Wisdom is obviously part of that new timeline.
Nah, looks more like a Fallen Timeline game to me
Appaarently Jon missed out on playing the GREATEST Transformers game of them all, being Transformers Armada (PS2).
Amiico vibes for real
The only company that actually pull it of was Atari and that's becasue while they don't have the infraestructure to compare to their rivals or in the past they still have capital.
That outro, 10/10!!! 👏👏👏
The Zelda timeline is a huge meme at this point.😂
Always has been
The Dreamcast Digital Scale System with controller ports! Amazing Look! heh
But they're not putting those three games together.😅
Ultimately they don't know what they're doing but they're pretending to know.
@@EPS5000 ok soy chugger
Man we had 7 zelda games on the switch.
I mean they try to launch one a year.
I don't particularly count the remake of Hyrule Warriors, and Age of Calamity in with the group.
And I didn't enjoy any of them as much as the 4 on N64 and GameCube :/
@@tloz171nfs personally I enjoyed every single game I even had to emulate some to boost their frame rate. I enjoyed them because I know where their gameplay originated like Dynasty Warriors and Crypt of the NecroDancer. I always enjoyed the spinoffs/2d more than the main games.
I'm just glad Nintendo keeps making them because I'm hands down gonna buy Capcom LoZ Seasons and Ages remake if they ever decide to make them.
Still waiting for like 1 Punch Out tho & an original DKC
While we’re talking personal about John, can we take a moment to congratulate him on how much better and healthier he looks overall than he did a few years ago! Awesome self care, John!🎉
He especially looks much slimmer than he did back in 2017 when Nintendo Switch was brand new. Honestly, if someone told me it was a different person back then, I'd probably believe you.
@@GenerationZ313 yeah, I think he actually started working on his health and self improvement around 30 to my understanding. Homie’s rocking that “yes, daddy” energy now! 🤣
Glad to see you take on comments that’s like this about yourself in a professional manner keep up the great work
The Emudeck is an easy no for that price.
"Retell the same story different ways" I mean is a Legend after all right? I totally agree with you
Astro Bot looks awesome, the controller looks nice too
I'm more interested when an individual Zelda game is moved to a different spot in the timeline. It usually means something new is coming.
I remember when Link's Awakening was moved around in the timeline, and people were confused. We got Link's Awakening Remake a little bit after that.
Take a shot every time Jon says Nintendo Switch 2 rumor
echo of wisdom would have been awesome if it was on a 3D screen system :o
You're doing a tech wave on the emudeck, right?
I've not heard of Decapolise but it's reminding me of Dynamite Cop also known as Dynamite Deka, coincidence? Yes, yes it is.
Reminder that Fall of Cybertron is technically already on the Xbox One, natively. Just needs to be re-licensed.
I'm not sure who the market for that Emudeck is at that price... why not just get a Steam Deck?
Im not into botw/totk style zelda games, i personally love the linear but explorable style games a bit more.
Legend of Zelda's "timeline" never really mattered. The more they try connecting the dots, the less it needs to make sense. Moot at this point. They're self-contained story arcs at best. Ocarina just gave them the opportunity to make the canon confusing.
What do you mean it's simple
oh it must be, that's why you didn't explain it
Looking forward to Echoes of Wisdom on Switch, currently playing Link’s Awakening and I absolutely love the game and art style.
I like to think of The Legend of Zelda the same way anthropology thinks of the term "Flood Myth."
Nice shirt! 🎮
TFW2005 has been around way before 2005. The name is a reference to the year that the original transformers movie is set in.
It's September and I am excited for Dead Rising. I thinks its the perfect game to start off the Fall season.
If they remastered war for cybertron and fall of cybertron I'd gladly buy them
I'm surprised Transformers World 2005 doesn't know the game in development is *Transformers Reactivate.* It's been publicly announced and multiple development gameplay videos have leaked
I like to think of the Zelda timeline as every new game being a story uncovered by a historian attempting to put it all together but never having all the pieces.
thing is like the star wars timeline
Hopefully, Square Enix brings FFXIV to the Nintendo Switch’s successor. I’d buy the console if they do. Currently, I’m considering the Steam Deck or Lenovo Legion Go as a mobile solution for crafting and occasional questing during work breaks.
BotW and TotK aren't really on their own as much as they're at the end of two other timelines. I've seen multiple fan theories that basically say that the timelines are converging in BotW and TotK so this makes that seem even more likely
Dancer on the Switch 2 will be crazy
As a Skyward Sword fan, I have supremacy in the Zelda timeline argument.
i would love to see the High Moon "For Cybertron" games come back as well as Devastation.
I LOVE EmuDeck!... on my steam deck, which costs less than that thing
It has been stated over and over that botw and ToTK are so far in the future they could be in any. That is why they are "separated" from the rest of the timeline.
I want DecaPolice!
Yeah it makes most sense to completely remove BotW and TotK from the previous timeline. TotK itself cannot be reconciled with the original timelines at all. It just isn't possible. It cannot be the establishment of Hyrule for the first time AND feature the imprisoning war.
The next "switch" should just be a dock attatchment that has hardware built in to amp up and run newer age switch games and future games.
Level 5 should remake the Dark Cloud Series, or give us a new game and make it a trilogy.
I quite enjoyed the demo for Inazuma Eleven Victory Road, but I didn't know they were working on a manager mode for it. I can't really stand football/soccer, but Inazuma Eleven is a pretty fun RPG and I can see myself getting really sucked into a manager mode version of it.
i cant wait for FF7 to finish and we get a HUGE 300+ hour EPIC game !!!!!!
PS6 and PC can handle it !
I'm waiting for that as well lol
16K 1,000,000 FPS, yet the gameplay is garbage. Nope
@@QuantumChristskill issue
Would love Level5 to announce Ni No Kuni 3.
17:31 there's that movie coming out soon, Transformers One. There's a good chance Activision's been working on something new to coincide with it for a while
I saw one theory that botw and totk are at the end of the timeline where all previous timelines merged
Even got White Knight Chronicles and the sequel for the low.
somthing like that you could probably run on any mini pc
I’m so happy final fantasy game are coming to Xbox. I’m playing final fantasy xv on my series x right now. I own the final fantasy games on ps5 but I hate my ps5. It’s covered in dust.
😂😂
2:30 Professor Layton news + return of Yokai Watch?
Well there goes any hope of DMC6. 🤦♂️ Capcom is becoming more and more dead to me. I wonder if they wouldn’t let him do his thing and that’s why Hideki left, but he just won’t say it.
I expect "A Completely New Title" to be the actual title
Space Marine 2 only got 11%? And Zelda Exhoes of Wisdom and Astro got more?
Insane
Well, I think Zelda breath of the wild and Zelda tears of the kingdom are so far into the future that it wouldn’t make sense to connect them to either part of the timeline and that we would need several more games to be made to be able to connect them to a specific timeline
Wow wtf, I just started revisiting the Transformers games again, playing older titles, currently playing Transformers Armada on ps2(amazing game)
Why do I keep hearing news on games I start replaying??
Go replay banjo
I am so sad I didn’t buy Transformers War for Cybertron, I only bought the Fall of Cybertron on Xbox One.
Hey John. Can you increase the outro time by an additional 10-15 seconds so as to give the viewer some bumper room time to click on any of the suggestion videos?
I was playing Fall of Cybertron with people around the world, there is a private server (for free) up and running, you need to change the DNS on your playstation 3 and done!
Legend of Zelda has been doing the multiverse thing before multiverses were cool.
Poor Plucky Squire. It deserves more love.
for a dyi kit and lack of power and controller is insane at that price point
