If you want to check if your sealed switch games have the card in them, without opening it, (in case you're giving it as a gift) you can hold the case up to the light and look through the clear side where the opening of the case is. I can usually see the card in the slot. I started doing this after the first time I heard someone ordered a copy of Mario Odyssey and the game was sealed, but the game card was missing

During the pandemic, we had a ring of criminals in Ohio who purchased a significant quantity of games and returned them to a number of stores in the area. It was always a different store from the one purchased. For example, they would buy them from a Cleveland Best Buy and return them at a Columbus Best Buy. Anyway, they used a black marker to color the card slot and used a resealer to rewrap the game case. They got greedy after Metroid Dread was released and got caught after I connected the incidences and got Best Buy, Target and Walmart to coordinate.

Couple of obvious solutions to digital game libraries and online gaming. 1. Make it illegal for companies to ban users from accessing they games they have digital rights to. If it’s an online component that is restricted permanently or for a length of time that’s ok. 2. Completely separate the account that buys the games from the account that is used to interact online, maybe they can be linked, but online activity has no bearing on the users offline access to digital content. Its a free market, the better sellers like GOG will win out in the end if the others don’t play fairly

I don't think it will go away. Records still haven't went away. It's actually gotten more popular in the last few years. Same thing with 8-tracks. Except we have better cartridges. So we didn't really lose anything. I remember ripping PS1 discs in the early 2000s. The reproduction game right now is even mind-boggling.

If someone lost something with 200 digital games, they would have legal action against the platform holder that banned them. Banning someone from online play is different and does not require that they prevent you from accessing any of your legally purchased games.
Your games are licenses which the platform holder can revoke at any time for any reason without notification. These predatory EULAs alleviate platform holders from liability. EULAs create a massive power imbalance and, in an effort correct such an imbalance, should be negotiable.
I got a goggly eye in my Capcom Marvel fighting collection that I bought at a Walmart. I called them right away after opening it and got a manager to accept the return. Apparently store employees do that trick of swapping out the cartridges as it's easier to sneakily do it and blame the customer for lying. My issue with this is I thought Nintendo games came with a Nintendo seal, not just normal plastic. Like PlayStation. You know if it's generic wrapping or the official. No? Am I tripping? It's been a while since I bought physical games.
Nintendo did have a seal on their games at one point in time. But that seal was on the box to ensure that the game met Nintendo quality standards. Whatever that meant.

There are definitely more operational Switches out there than PS2s. PS2 was not known for it's durability. I had piles of broken ones. Sony really sucks at hardware.
Worked at a Walmart in the late 90's/early 00's. Bought Sega Bass fishing for the DC and opened the game before I left to read the instruction booklet, found no disc in the case. Went to go exchange it and they called over a manager that had just gotten to the store a few weeks prior, so we didn't really know each other. He quickly told me to just go back to electronics and get another one. While thanking him for not assuming I was stealing, he told us that at his old store people were buying games and movies, removing the disc and resealing it at places like CD Warehouse. There was a CD Warehouse in the shopping center where we worked.
I actually appreciate the effort this leaker has gone though to protect themselves and there colleagues. A good hacker or leaker doesn't expose sensitive or personal info.

I'm assuming they broke the seal very carefully and then glued it back down. It's probably even easier to do now given how easy it is to return items through Amazon.
Looking at the Sonic movies now and they're a big success for Sega. But if Paramount Pictures decided to just ignore the fan outrage on how Sonic looked when the trailer was first released, the series would have stopped dead at just the first movie. I had a lot more time in my teen years and early adulthood before I started my family, and games were typically shorter back then too. I think the googly eye thing happened in my city. There was a post on a local Facebook group where someone posted something very similar, it was a Mario game as well, and the pic looked the same.
I asked for and received the 4:30 movie 4k steelbook collection and received a dvd case that looked like someone printed out the little insert. It wasn't cut straight and overalled just looked bad. There was a disc inside, but it wasn't perfectly circular. It had a few jagged edges and the label on the disc looked to be poorly printed and glued on. It also didn't work. It was shipped and sold from amazon.
Context matters. This is Nintendo's next console we're talking about. Of course this person will try to avoid getting caught and in debt for life. And using AI + PS to manufacture portions of your photo is cheap, quick, and easy to do. Not saying I believe it, I'm just explaining why context matters.

Thirty years ago me would’ve been scouring the internet for any images or info I could find on Nintendo’s next console. You know, if the internet had been more than bulletin boards and IRC channels back then. But now… I mean I did click this video, but only after ignoring it most of the morning.
I lost a PSN account because I lost the password and it was made with an email I no longer had, so no resetting the password, I went through the support page but because I also didn't have the original PS3 it was made on anymore because that broke, I couldn't recover that account. Thats why I am very hesitant with digital stuff now when there's other options and that's ignoring how some games literally require a day one patch to function

Nintendo isn't deciding on a launch or reveal date of the Switch 2 based on leaks. It only has to do with sales of the Switch 1, fiscal year, and other business stuff like that. Nintendo isn't going to revolve their business around leakers.
They did promise to announce it this fiscal year, doubt they'd stop that. But they could delay that until the last possible day at that point. Announcing is also different than showing it.

The Nintendo seal seems to be there for PAL versions. But I've never seen any of the NA versions have it. That's just my experience.

Good question but unfortunately as Nintendo are terrified of homebrew I don’t think themes or a browser are likely. Sony cut those elements too. It’d be nice if Nintendo used a direct upload to TH-cam app though.

People dont really take enough about how hard it is to talk to PlayStation customer service and request a refund, you first need to go through an automated chat bot then wait in line and two times i tried i was number 100 in line, then you finally get to talk to someone and ask for a refund.

The reason the halo content leaked was because the digsite team was treated so poorly and slaving away on content that 343 never helped with and took most of the credit for without give the digsite team any compensation. Microsoft is really craping the bed

There are definitely more operational Switches out there than PS2s. PS2 was not known for it's durability. I had piles of broken ones. Sony really sucks at hardware.

Worked at a Walmart in the late 90's/early 00's. Bought Sega Bass fishing for the DC and opened the game before I left to read the instruction booklet, found no disc in the case. Went to go exchange it and they called over a manager that had just gotten to the store a few weeks prior, so we didn't really know each other. He quickly told me to just go back to electronics and get another one. While thanking him for not assuming I was stealing, he told us that at his old store people were buying games and movies, removing the disc and resealing it at places like CD Warehouse. There was a CD Warehouse in the shopping center where we worked.

Leaking anything should be illegal... and, yes, they are breaking trust. This will make any future projects with community difficult.
I opened my Ghosts of Tsushima for PS5 and it had Billy Madison inside instead. Luckily the manager at Target was a gamer and understood.

When I buy a Switch game in person, someone working at the store gets the cartridge from a draw then puts it in the case.
Honestly with AI imagery they need to have a watermark showing its ai generated and what ai generated it. It then goes into vetting system to make sure it isn't infringing on trademarks or copyright once vetted you can purchase the nonwater marked
@4:50. I had something like this happen to me 20 years ago with a Dreamcast game. No googly eye, but a cdr had been put in the jewel case. I'm assuming they broke the seal very carefully and then glued it back down. It's probably even easier to do now given how easy it is to return items through Amazon.

Looking at the Sonic movies now and they're a big success for Sega. But if Paramount Pictures decided to just ignore the fan outrage on how Sonic looked when the trailer was first released, the series would have stopped dead at just the first movie. Lucky for us fans, and for Paramount, and for Sega that they decided to fix Sonic's look.
2025 looks like it should be a decent year of gaming at the very least…but that also means my backlog will continue to grow. Tough times.

@ - It’s bittersweet for me. I enjoy that there are so many options, but there’s just not enough time for me to get around to and beat everything that comes out. I had a lot more time in my teen years and early adulthood before I started my family, and games were typically shorter back then too. Now I have less time and games usually run longer these days haha.

@@GM-Shenmue - Sounds great in theory and is an excellent suggestion, but my excuse to buy as many games as I do [even tho I know I won’t play even half of them] is so my kids can pick and choose which games to play. To give them a chance to expand their wheelhouse or even try a game they would have never known about otherwise, it makes me feel good if they end up a fan of a new franchise/genre/what have you.
Still with my minimized time to play, I still play a lot more than five games a year. 2024 was probably the least amount of time I’ve had for gaming, but I still played roughly ten games that came out in 2024 and around 40 or so older games [retro games included].

I think the googly eye thing happened in my city. There was a post on a local Facebook group where someone posted something very similar, it was a Mario game as well, and the pic looked the same.
I asked for and received the 4:30 movie 4k steelbook collection and received a dvd case that looked like someone printed out the little insert. It wasn't cut straight and overalled just looked bad. There was a disc inside, but it wasn't perfectly circular. It had a few jagged edges and the label on the disc looked to be poorly printed and glued on. It also didn't work. It was shipped and sold from amazon.
They are further along that QA testing though. This thing is in production already.

Context matters. This is Nintendo's next console we're talking about. Of course this person will try to avoid getting caught and in debt for life. And using AI + PS to manufacture portions of your photo is cheap, quick, and easy to do. Not saying I believe it, I'm just explaining why context matters.

Why would Nintendo take a design that perfectly uses gravity for the joycons to connect and switch it out for an inferior side snap on design? Why put a plus button underneath where the joycons would connect? The design is either made by an idiot or ai. The logo is also wrong, every instance of the modern Nintendo logo I’ve seen has a copyright r over the o in Nintendo, this one does not. There’s more than enough to deduce that it’s ai.
Of course it’s going to release in early march time frame. If you know japans fiscal year calendar then it only makes sense they will try to split this fiscal year and next year to increase profits of both years for investors.
My uncle works for Xbox and he said the googly eyes are for the new Nintendo switch 2 it has a camera on it and you scan the eye and you get the game

Christmas Break
Thirty years ago me would’ve been scouring the internet for any images or info I could find on Nintendo’s next console. You know, if the internet had been more than bulletin boards and IRC channels back then.
But now… I mean I did click this video, but only after ignoring it most of the morning.
I lost a PSN account because I lost the password and it was made with an email I no longer had, so no resetting the password, I went through the support page but because I also didn't have the original PS3 it was made on anymore because that broke, I couldn't recover that account. Thats why I am very hesitant with digital stuff now when there's other options and that's ignoring how some games literally require a day one patch to function
I can see the dock is vented, so that means its fully functional with the ability to upscale?
Leak feels like the wrong word to me when it's all about stuff from 20+ years ago.

I wonder if these alleged leaks are going to have the opposite effect they intended, and instead of making Nintendo speak sooner, they decide to delay the Switch 2 out of spite.
They're well known for being petty and vindictive like that, so I wouldn't ever put it past them.
Nintendo isn't deciding on a launch or reveal date of the Switch 2 based on leaks. It only has to do with sales of the Switch 1, fiscal year, and other business stuff like that. Nintendo isn't going to revolve their business around leakers.
They did promise to announce it this fiscal year, doubt they'd stop that. But they could delay that until the last possible day at that point. Announcing is also different than showing it.
Could you imagine if the sonic writers got ahold of wind waker. Link traveling aboard the Red Lion to stop ganon and save his sister at the same time a real life human being is stuck with him and we have to give him screen time because he's worried he's not gonna have enough time to study for his high school exams and that he might fail the big test. 🤮
