  • Baobab tree from a seed timelapse. Scratched the seed and boiled a second them to simulate elephants stomach in nature (it works). I had over 8 year old one but it died sadly after watering too much on "dry season"...
    SORRY about the changing light sources... this was trial run and getting better here on out! Promise!
    This kinda failed during repotting them and changing position... I have two still growing without repotting and placed those to full sun on the window sill to recover.
    Decided to stop filming this time here, because it got so slow. Trees aren't fastest growers. These take like 600 years to grow their potential!

    Appreciate the video despite the results. I am growing mine now from seedlings and will be planting them in a day or two. It was good to see the growth for a bit so I kinda know what it should be looking like.

      Growing mine in a greenhouse in sydney, Australia and after almost 6 months it stands at over 1.5m, nearly 2m including the pot

      Why despite the results? It's a seasonal tree. It's leaves fall and then grow back in spring.
      I too didn't know. I thought it died and took it out from the soil and left it on my window from the outside. In spring it started growing leaves without the soil and I noticed that and put it back in and it grew now for the second year.

    It didn't die. Its leaves just fell when outumn came. It started growing again in spring.

    I think you used the wrong type of soil. That led to too much moisture and eventually death of the 🌱. I use akadama, pumice, volcanic rock(50-20-20) and 10% pine bark, and my baobabs are growing like crazy. I water them when the soil gets dry. Baobabs don t like the excess 💦

      generally young plants of any kind don’t really mind soil being wet unless they are drowning

      @@torb1trick415 not baobabs. My first few died because i watered them little more than they needed. I read somewhere that baobab are very similar to cactuses when it comes to watering.

    How frequently did you watered it?

    • @tiinasoderholm
      @tiinasoderholm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably once a day or every other day. Grow lights heat them up.

      But they are still dead.

    Any updates? Do you still have them? How tall?

      Sadly only one survived the winter. Even that barely grows and is just couple leaves.
      I have more seeds thought, just need to grow new ones without artificial 24h lighting...
