So why did the kids come up...? That I hope to be mentioned in 1065. Plus I want Bonnys fruit properly explained. Other than those points these chapters were amazing.
Manga have often that form thing that is a reference to th 6 paths or virtues, somthing omething into hinduism that has devided aspects. It a trope. I am nort even ure if thats deep becau characters having aspects and devied personality is just a trope that exists. Also, tthe other inventions, yeah amazing, but the cooking, i have problems, cooking is an art, thats unrealistic.
I love thay Jimbei's character flaw is his lack of tact, he doesn't shy away from saying what he thinks doesn't matter if it might not be the right moment
I think he has tact, its just that he usually speaks his mind and calls it as he sees it. For example, him leaving the big mom pirates was remarkably civil on his end
if anything, Luffy is the one who lacks tact sometimes. Jinbei's character flaw is that he has none. In a crew as idiosyncratic as the SHs, he's as "straight man" as it gets. He doesn't do bits like Luffy or Brook, he doesn't overreact like Nami or Usopp, he doesn't even have Robin or Franky's weird sense of humor. He's just there, enjoying life. And I'm fine with that.
Blackbeard is one of those guys that improvise on the spot, he knows more or less what he needs to do, but doesn't care about the planning or the details, exactly like Luffy. Have we forgotten how he went to Impel Down and just mere seconds in he was going to get defeated by Magellan? He definitely is that kind of guy.
Big on strategy with no tactics for the field, but makes up for it with tremendous instincts + the willingness to play dirty. That's the read I have on BB
@@royalfun1031 yeah in the oden flash back 1. Wano 2. Big mom 3. Zou 4. Fishman island So unless he did something during the 24 years then I don’t think it’s apart of captain john’s treasure but oda could change that🤷♂️
Oda said in an SBS back in volume 48 (Thriller Bark), on the question on how devil fruits could come back, that we would "just have to wait for a certain professor to make his appearance in the story, and explain exactly what the Devil Fruits REALLY are... Eventually." I have been waiting for this dude to make an appearance for SO FREAKING LONG to explain this thing. I know there are other things we could hope to learn on this island, but to me this is the big one.
One cool detail, when Luffy found that Parfait and and hopped right in and Jimbei saying be careful it might be a trap, its actually Jimbei's least favorite food, i remember it from an SBS somewhere.
I'm guessing Blackbeard didn't have much of a plan because he wasn't 100% sure which crew he was going to be fighting. He had a 1 in 3 chance, and when he saw Law's crew, he probably had a version of a plan for Luffy and Kid, but didn't much care about Law's crew because everyone underestimates them. Law is the big name in the papers, after all, not Penguin or Bepo. One thing I loved was seeing Bonny use a beam sword. We're definitely on a futuristic island.
Auger’s Warp fruit makes me so excited for his future fight against Usopp. Usopp wont be able to run and will have to do some insane observation haki sniping to beat his warping. Bonus points if he unlocks future sight in order to see where he’ll warp too. If Franky is able to upgrade the General Franky into a giant robot the size of Vegapunk’s which dwarfs the Sunny. He might get to to fight the “Colossal Battleship” giant on Blackbeard’s crew. It’s kinda nice that Pudding isn’t hiding her third eye behind her bangs now after her encounter with Sanji. Law fruit and doctor knowledge might let him discover the secret of Blackbeard’s body during their fight. Kuma and Blackbeard share some similar features. Maybe they both are a part of whatever this new race is? If Law, Coby and Blackbeard are all together we might get to find out a bit more about the “Rocky Port incident” since they all had some level of involvement in it. Seeing how Blackbeard has got his crew moving seperately to achieve goals for him kinda makes me hope he’s sent Shiryuu to infiltrate Impel Down. Give the invisible man a stealth mission in a location he’s familiar with. Probably to take Magellan’s poison fruit, but also to free Doflamingo. It’d be hard to fit him in the story again but I just kinda want Doflamingo back in some way. He was under Kaidou before. I could maybe kinda see him allying with Blackbeard now. 😂 Since Vegapunk has ties to Dragon now maybe Dragon will be able to pull a Palpatine/Order 66 and turn all the Pacafista/Seraphim against the government at some point.
Omg I love that for Franky. I could totally see that. Meanwhile, Zoro will sharpen his observation haki to fight Shilliew with his invincible ability. Both are swordsman.
Skypiea is the arc that just keeps giving. I wasn't really part of the fandom when I first read one piece - it wasn't until I binged everything available and was caught up before I started getting involved. I binged the entire series around October 2018? My best friend finally convinced me to do so after so many attempts. And I couldn't believe what I had been missing. When I got to Skypiea and was reading through him, I told him its was probably my favorite to that point, and it even remained in my top after it was over and I moved on in the story. He thought it was weird because even HE didn't really remember much about it, and told me it was often considered "canon filler" by many - or just generally unpopular. I was baffled. Now look at it.
One cool idea I've heard is that some of Vegapunks inventions seem designed to counter some of the admirals abilities - like the photo gloves used to interact with light (for Kizaru) or the anti-grav tech (Fugitora).
I started reading One Piece a few months before you did and I already knew your channel. As soon as I saw that you started reading it too, you immediatly became my favourite One Piece creator on TH-cam. Keep it up with the great work!
I'd say Blackbeard relies a lot on his ability to improvise for the on-the-ground effectiveness of his larger plans. He's less of a mastermind, and more of an opportunist. He decides what he wants and puts himself in a position to seize any opportunities to get it, but relies on an opportunity turning up to actually go through with it. Which seems to fit his crew's theme of fatalism. He doesn't just think opportunities will turn up, he *believes* it.
About what you say around 9:00 : Atlas says that they gave the WG the blueprints for the food machine and they were told they are just too complicated to mass produce (which seems to trigger Atlas but then again, Atlas is meant to represent Vegapunk's violent side so I don't know how much the other parts of him will care about it). And in the next chapter, when the other part of the crew are flying away in the giant mecha (can we talk about how weird it is that what started 25 years ago as a pretty normal Pirate set up, with little to no technology, now has clones, cyborgs and flying mechas and somehow it works??) Lilith says "It's only possible because of the island's air condition... but one day it'll be really all over the world". So I think Vegapunk really wants to help the world even if he knows what he's inventing can't be used today.
The blue prints for the food machine being too complicated for mass production might be what was suggested by the fan translation, the official translation said that the problem is the lack of engineers (rather than the complexity of the machine)
@@apoptosisduellinks109 It's kind of both isn't it? The official translation says "As long as there's enough food material, it can provide 500 different meals to the user, each in under a minute!! The "whip up leftovers" mode is the best part!! But only if you make it exactly to the plans!! There aren't enough technicians to mass produce them though!!"
I don't think kuma's a lunarian. There's too many differences between him and King and the seraphim. But, there's definitely a possibility he's one of the races that Big Mom mentioned that was "lost to time"
@@thapediselepe8893 she mentioned to king as she tried to recruit him that she was missing three races, giants, kings race, and another lost to time, something along those lines, oni isnt a confirmed race or at least doesnt seem to be oni cause why wouldnt bm mention them by name there when they were most relevant?
Right now I'm definitely on the thought train of "Blackbeard and Kuma are from the same race." Tiny limbs, giant torsos, darker skin tone, poofy black hair. No idea what that entails other than, in Blackbeard's case, having crazy durability, but i'm very interested to see where that goes. Also, in terms of Vegapunk being strapped for cash, I think that's more to do with the World Government prioritizing funding weapons as opposed to them not having enough money to fund all his stuff. They probably don't want all islands to have Star Trek replicators and modifiable climates because it'd make them less dependent
BTW, the big mom and pudding story lines have to connect. It's too much of a setup to have a character with a memory fruit and another that has suppressed memories. I think we might get something interesting out of BM
Shout out to Merphy’s dedication to getting the “jump in the stream” shot. Always appreciate Merphy’s One Piece vids but seeing Merphy get pant legs wet in the name of “the perfect shot” is also enjoyable.
The thing about Blackbeard is he's both a genius and an idiot. He has moments where he has these incredible, well thought plans like how he became a warlord and setup up all these little pieces so that he could break into impel down easily, like brainwashing the gate guard ahead of time, etc... And then he has moments where he actually ENTERS into Impel Down with zero prep and gets poisoned immediately by Magellan and almost dies.
Totally didn't get the connection between Kuzan being the one to capture the two young women who can read the ponegliffs. At this point I wonder how much of this is intentional by Oda, or if he just he's just written so much by this point that any interaction between any two characters will have layers and layers of context behind it.
@@Mooglatan Kuzan is very interested in the void century and thats why he wanted Robin to succeed , so he most likely doesnt want BB to get the one piece or he just want to follow him to see the truth but in that case he could have went with Luffy .
He didn't have a plan because he doesn't know who will come, it could be strawhat or Kidd or law. And he doesn't know all their power, he only know Luffy, Zoro, and Nami
@@algorithm63 BB approximately knows about all the Supernova powers on a base level at least. He even knew about Law's basic Room abilities. But was surprised when Law activated awakening. He's the type of guy that pays attention to his surroundings after all. But yeah, he couldn't have really planned extensively for every crew he could face.
Kuma seems to set up as one of the last of the other race big mom was missing from her "family" and im interested in what Kuma really is he really is one of my favorites in one piece and he is the prime example of self sacrifice
Just to clarify since it's been a bit. The last time Bonney saw her dad wasn't Sabaody, she saw him at the Reverie. Also you'd be surprised how early on people were guessing BB's crew was in Wholecake. It wasn't "oh everything is frozen" it was "There are two tiny shadows walking far in the distance"
The reason I love seeing Blackbeard just charge in because it shows that Blackbeard is like Luffy a little bit, because if it didn't it wouldnt show his gambling character trait he has shown throughout the series, it especially was shown in impel down, always doing gambles and trusting in fate
The "plan" Blackbeard had was -Hope he finds the Darkness-Darkness Fruit. (Luck) -Catch a big bounty (Luffy was his target). (Ace and the proceeding war were luck) -Leverage that bounty to become a Warlord. -Use Warlord status to recruit the strongest of Impel Down. (He challenged Magellan and almost died) ----- Because of the war he accidentally caused, THEN he realized Whitebeard would be weak and went after the Gura-Gura and, when 1-on-1 combat didn't work, his entire crew jumped the guy of their own accord (luck).
Blackbeard, while is a good strategist, also has a habit of being super overconfident in his abilities. When he met up with Ace he took a bunch of hits he didn't need to because he was confident in his Yami-Yami no Mi. When he went in to Impel Down, his crew almost got eradicated by Magellan because he didn't know what Magellan could do. When he arrived at Marineford, he was confident he could beat Whitebeard easily because of how much fatigue Whitebeard went through, but he almost died fighting Whitebeard because, as Whitebeard himself said, carelessness and overconfidence are his weaknesses.
Since I didnt see it here yet, I would like to share the idea that D Members are from a different race and Kuma is a D. Sengoku mentioned to Law the D's having a checkered fate/life in Chapter 798 in the end of Dressrosa before Law repeated that expression it in chapter 996 in Wano. In episode 888 the anime introduces Kuma and says "No one’s ever had as checkered a life as his. If there is a link between Kuma, Luffy, Law and Blackbeard, we could get some lore about the Will of D soon…
I think the Strategic part of Blackbeard's plan was he knew one of the three with ponoglyphs would have to pass through there because he knows what the next destination is. When Law, Kid, and Luffy decided ways to go; Law was excited that he got to go the right way. So Blackbird was very clever as to know exactly where he was going to get the glyphs but he had a 33% chance of who was coming through
I love that idea for Vega satellites, but I had the impression it’s similar to the seraphim- they age like real people and they’re numbered by when they were created
Fans are so hyper-focused on Robin's ability to read the poneglyphs, they forget about Nami's ability to get Luffy to incredibly hard-to-reach places. An awakened Pudding means that someone other than Robin can read the Poneglyphs, but that information still needs to be synthesized. Black Beard will soon realize that having the info is only half the battle. He’ll need a genius navigator to take him to Laughtale. I doubt he has one who’s on Nami’s level.
I think there’s a reason we’re getting Vegapunk, a man who can split himself into multiple people and Blackbeard, who may be multiple people in one person at the same time.
Really disapointed that You didn't mention Big Mons family, very disfunctional, but very loving and caring in the end, seeing the complete desperation on crackers face while being frezzed and brulee crying for pudding was a Nice touch
When I read the last chapter and saw Pudding and that there was going to be a break, I could already picture you uploading a video and saying: "We got to see Pudding after so long! I love Pudding... Evenifshebrokemyheart"
The thing about Kuma's race is : In chapter 951, when Big Mom being held at Onigashima after Udon Prisoners mines incident, Big Mom invited King to become part of her crew, right? She said : there are still three races i dont have in my country yet. We know the fact that it is Gigant, Lunarian ...and one other race we have yet to know. I believe Kuma is part of this unknown special race big mom mentioned.
Blackbeard really is the epitome of a pirate. He’s so cunning and a great opportunist, yet I love the similarities he and Luffy shares. Both their crew mates lecturing them about not having a plan and just being all guns blazing. I really hope the crew meet up again so that they can finally meet Vegapunk and we can learn the origins of Devil fruits, Lunarians etc. Also, HxH is back and the new chapters are great. It’s like Togashi never left.
One thing that always gets mentioned, is that Blackbeard, while he CAN plan, sometimes, he's too arrogant and selfish, which makes it so when he Believes he has the upper hand, he does something foolish. You can get a taste of this from Whitebeards quote - "Over confidence and carelessness... those are your weaknesses". I feel the Blackbeard end is a given because of this quote and gives us a lot of what we could expect. He will gain all of these powers, have these strong devil fruits, become overconfident, because he IS in a position where he has full control over everything, then throw it all away due to a blunder he will make on his own.
Now I know why Oda let Big Mom left WCI. It's a setup for what really is happening right now in the manga. The Vinsmokes and Blackbeard took advantage of Big Mom's absence.
Look at the cover with Pudding in front of Aokiji. It looks like there's debris flying behind her. It might also be a Vivre card of Big Mama thrown away before it can be found. Pudding might also make use of her memory manipulation to steer others away from discovering she's alive.
I love the theory that Kuma is just half-Lunarian. And the Seraphims are based on the study on King who's full Lunarian and a direct update to the half-Lunarian Pacifistas.
I also think Kuzan is a SWORD member infiltrating Teach's crew, the same way Drake infiltrated Kaido's crew. But I also think Blackbeard is too smart for that. He probably knows Kuzan is a spy, and Kuzan is probably also aware of that, so they're just using each other until one of them finally backstabs the other.
Merphy, I really like your videos and perspective. There were two things you mentioned that need some clarification: 1. The last time Bonney saw Kuma was during the Reverie (chapter 908), not Sabaody. 2. CP Aigis 0 is after Vegapunk, not CP 9. I like the reviews in the off weeks and I hope you keep looking at the chapters in batches like this.
Oh right, on Oda SBS, Aloha shirt is traditional Fishman attire as Oda answered reader questions. Jinbei choosing Aloha shirt is basically equivalent of Japanese wearing Kimono outside his homeland.
31:34 The events from the cover story are in the past, they transpired while the crew was in Wano, as it starts with the aftermath of the Strawhats exist: 2 Germa signings getting caught
Maybe it was just me, but I was SO looking forward to your reviews when we started getting Kuma lore, as well as the Bonney and Jimbei char. Development we received. I knew that out of all the youtubers, you would be the most hyped and empathetic towards them. I love the way you interpret and break down the one piece world. Please never change Murphy 🙏💜 Nakama!
I think Blackbeard either is very impulsive when he is excited like Luffy. Or Blackbeard has multiple personalities. Also yes Law has a Spaceship it’s has officially been confirmed by Merphy.
i don't think Kuma is a lunarian. Back in Wano, Big Mom said that there are 3 races that aren't in Whole Cake. Giants, lunarians, and a still unknown third. i bet Kuma is part of that third.
Something i found interesting is that one of the inventions of vegapunk was a glove that could touch light and an anti gravitacional device. Maybe he's been inventing anti-navy technology
I believe it was either Tekking or BDA that brought up the three races that Big Mom said she didn’t have in Totland. I believe we already knew about only two of those races…
Law vs Blackbeard is one of my favorite fights in a while. I absolutely love the idea of Law’s crew specializing at combat on the water. Also, Law has the Wano road Poneglyph, and he likely has the one from Zou too since he was there. Blackbeard likely got a copy of Big Mom’s poneglyph when they captured Pudding. If Blackbeard already has the last missing poneglyph. That means potentially all 4 road poneglyphs are up in the air for this fight between Law and Blackbeard 👀
Atlas vegapunk said she was frustrated by the fact that there are not enough competent engineers in order to mass produce her inventions, so I think Vegapunk would very much like to help the world with their inventions, but can't because of the logistics. If we go back to Franky during the time skip we see that he tried to make a good way for his native island(in constant winter) be warmer and he invented a way, but again, for practical reasons he couldn't implement it.
Hey Merph, glad to hear you're enjoying Egghead so far! I've been hit with a lot of Wano fatigue since about 3/4th's the way through the raid, but these last 3 chapters have reinvigorated my enthusiasm for the series 110%. This island is SO FREAKING COOL and I can't wait to see what is gonna be thrown at us next!
One minor moment in the latest chapter that I'd like to point out is the brief scene where we cut to Akainu learning that Law and Blackbeard are fighting and he's frustrated that all he can do at the moment is wait. Since the aftermath of Dressrosa, I've felt like Akainu has somewhat been regretting becoming fleet admiral. He always seemed better suited as someone who takes action rather than making orders.
Still remembering the days when you were like "This is a nice hunky dory lil pirate tale" lol. Loved you before but love the love for One Piece and how far you've come
Not sure if this is the right place, but I do have a pet theory about Big Mom ever since her and Kaido got thrown down into the lava. At first the theory was that Big Mom would use either a part of Kaido's soul or all of it to infuse into the lava and create a homie named Ragnarok which she would attack Elbaf with when the Straw Hats are present. After the reveal of Pluton being beneath Wano I kind of started thinking about how she could create a homie out of the ancient weapon with Kaido's soul.
Here's a theory about Bonnie's fruit I posited to Joyboy Theories: Bonnie's fruit doesn't simply age a person; if it was that simple, her power would've been given it's title card already because it SEEMS that straightforward. My feeling is that Bonnie's fruit can age people up to their final age in a specific timeline, and that's possibly how Vegapunk knows he's meant to die soon, because Bonnie aged him up to his final age. Additionally though, Luffy's title card stated "Age: 70 - Glimpse of a possible future". This got me thinking about Luffy's lifespan now. Luffy's aged self was of the failed Luffy Oda drew in an SBS. Now imagine he survives that long because he fails and has no ambition, so he remains safe from the dangers of adventure. What if Bonnie tries to age Luffy "The Pirate King" but she can't or his age only goes to like age 20 because he's destined to die soon? Then this end game story truly becomes a fight against fate for Luffy, against the idea that history is written out for him. The worst shonen trope has definitely been the prophecy child, and I've said it plenty of times in the past when Nika awakened: Luffy as a character would absolutely HATE being bound to prophecy. Whatever he can do to spit on fate, he will.
On the topic of Vegapunk's interests, we do see Atlas get very mad that they cant mass produce any of his inventions because people cant follow her blueprints and that there's not enough resources and then punches the hologram so I do believe that Vegapunk does want to better the world but he's so advanced that the rest of the world just cant keep up with his inventions. Also about Blackbeard, there's actually many hints that while his long-term planning is brilliant, his short-term planning is very much off instinct. Like how he just walked up to Magellan and would have died had it not been for Shiryu or how his boat was destroyed in Jaya and he just accepted it and gave up or how after Marienford he was trying to get a ship but didnt realize that the Navy wouldnt just give him one, these have always been some of his defining weaknesses.
10:10 One of the Vegapunks is explicitly angered by the fact that his technology can't get to most people and most of the world lacks the engineers able to implement his inventions.
At around 13:00 i think u say bonnie sees kuma for the last time in sabaody, but if i recall correctly she saw him at the reverie when a celestial dragon was using him like a horse. ( I may be wrong cause i read it when it came out probably before wano so im not really sure if my memory is failing)
If you remember back in Wano, when Big Mom first met King she mentioned that there were three races that were not present in Totto Land; Giants, lunarians and a third unknown. Based on what we know about lunarians Kuma share no traits at all but he could very well be part of that third still unknown one! We know that the World Govt had King at their disposal at one point and based on the very existence of the seraphim we know that Vegapunk got his dna, so why would he also take special interest in Kuma's physiology if he already had the genetic makeup for those traits? It makes more sense that Kuma is something else!
I'm really curious as to how Sanji would feel about that food-producing machine. He's a man who has devoted his life to the craft of making food -- and here we see a machine capable of making food. Hunger and not wasting food are major beats in Sanji's background, so how would he feel about machinery that could potentially solve world hunger, but - at its potential extreme - make people wasteful? Of everything in this arc, that's the one thing I NEED to see. The reason being that I am an artist, and I dunno if anyone has been paying attention, but AI art is a thing that exists. There are a frightening number of parallels there. Of everything happening, that's the one thing that has me on the edge of my seat. My first thought upon seeing that machine was, "What would Sanji think of this?"
@@mistyk.1734 I am not a fan. There are a lot of levels to it. For starters, it's clearly a case of technology advancing before the etiquette necessary to use it. We've just seen someone feed a dead artist's work into an AI before that artist could even be buried. There's so much wrong there. Then there are multiple discussions happening around AI art. And these are likely everything you've heard before ranging from the "it's a tool" argument to "they can't replace people because people support artists because they want what the artist specifically has to offer." The second of those arguments is a nice sentiment - and that's it. You mostly hear that from people who are able to find work quickly and often. And from their perspective, it totally makes sense. There are many people out there who value them as artists. As someone who is not particularly valued as an artist - who works on projects no one ever hears of and rarely gets commissioned to do anything - I beg to differ. I could disappear and no one would know that anything was lost. And there are A LOT of artists in the same position that I am in. And let us not forget that we live in a fairly late-stage capitalist society. Everyone is replaceable if replacing them can improve profits even marginally. Replacing artists would improve profits by a large margin. So with that in mind, how do I feel about AI Art? I feel that we should find every one of those projects and do whatever is necessary to make sure that the work is destroyed and cannot be reproduced. It's not a reasonable or intelligent take. But maybe Oda has some insight that could change my mind.
I understood the reason the machines are not all over the world in the way that Vega said they're so advanced, that the engineers of the world are not able to mass produce them. So he even has to disassemble his own machinery so he can make new inventions.
Everybody is so fixated about that 3th Eye of Pudding. Her devil fruit is the easiest way to reach Laugh Tale. She could take the film with that Islands location from someone that was on Laugh Tale like Crokus than go to Laugh Tale. I swear I wrote this exact message every time that 3th Eye is brought out. I don't know if I'm the only one that is seeing this but if it happens in that weak my comments will sound wery arrogant and childish so I apologize in advance for that
Oh you're pushing out a reaction each break. 1064 has got to be one of my favorite chapters since Wano so far, and it's interesting seeing you gush about these chapters. Blackbeard did have a grand plan this time, which is to camp at Winner Island and pick up a road/lode/whatchamacallit poneglyph from whoever was gonna get there. And no, I do think he is a Luffy, personally, it's just another parallel between them that makes him such a good foil. Luffy rushes in disregarding or even without a plan, Blackbeard rushes in due to his overconfidence in his strength and in his plans, like when he rushed at the strawhats and got knock-up streamed (the grand plan being he wants to earn Luffy's bounty), or when he rushed at Magellan and almost died (the grand plan being to recruit level 6 prisoners), or at Whitebeard and got slashed (the grand plan being to steal his fruit), etc.
30:15 Speaking of his parallels to Luffy, the 2 DF abilities we know of BB have a direct counter in Luffy. The quakes from the Gura Gura can be negated by the natural shock absorption of rubber. And when BB and Ace fought we had a great panel of a ball of fire created by Ace, and described by BB as a Sun, clashing with a ball of darkness created by BB, and now Luffy is a Sun God. So we have tremors vs shock absorption, and darkness vs the Sun
Blackbeard is a great planner for sure, but when it comes to little details he is more of an opportunistic feeder. He did plan ahead for the island he was supposed to get to to ambush them, he went straight for Hancock and Pudding when the opportunity arose without wasting a breath, he kidnapped Coby. Like Gandalf, he has a lot of foresight, instead of detailed plan he is more of "We got to do something about the Dragon and the Hobbit will make the difference between success and failure." But he is also like "Plan is to adapt to the problem when we get to it"
I mean tbf it's pretty hard for Blackbeard to make plans other than just a simple ambush since he didn't know who exactly he was gonna run into. He himself said he wasn't sure if Luffy, Law or Kid would end up where he was
seeing you unpack these last 3 chapters and your theories has been fantastic. I always look forward to your videos because how your thought process works.
I don’t think Blackbeard is strategic at all. He’s a Dark Luffy which means he very loosely has a goal, he charges in, and he gets lucky. Killing your own crew mate for a devil fruit without thought of repercussions is the definition of impulsive. Law is the planner and seeing as he’s named after two historical Naval battles it’s obvious he would be a strong military strategist at sea.
I think we as a community give blackbeard too much credit in the strategy department. He has some crazy arcane knowledge, and he's the ultimate opportunist. Remember, his original plan was to capture luffy to become a warlord to get his crew from impel down. He failed to capture luffy and got ace instead. He WOULD have failed to jailbreak impel down if it weren't for luffy's jailbreak causing Magellan to set shiryu free. He wouldn't have had the opportunity to get whitebeard's power if he didn't fail to capture luffy in the first place. I'm looking at blackbeard now like a far more competent and powerful buggy.
Another theory about Kuma’s race is that Big Mom mentioned she was missing 3 races from her family. We know of two being Lunarins and Giants so Kuma’s race could be the third unknown.
My dream matchup is Nami vs San Juan Wolf. Just imagine the visual of seeing tiny Nami who's always been one of the most scaredy-cat straw hats alongside Usopp going up against that intimidating colossus, and overpowering him with wit and her newfound powers to show how far she's come. It's a matchup with a LOT of potential. I know people want to match her against Catarina, but I think Robin vs Catarina is better. She's possibly the most brutal Blackbeard pirate (literally collects heads), seeing her interact with Robin would be amazing.
Remember Edward Newgate called out Teach's weakness at the war of the best. He does strategizes but only for the long term but not the short term at all. He's careless and arrogant. Sheliw was like how the hell was we going to get into the New world without a ship🤣. Careless.
Blackbeard seems a character that does not move without a plan, but always go with the flow in the battle itself. You might say, he is "strategic" but not "tactical", if that makes any sense. The big mom thing is very confusing and ultimately comes down with translation. Many people took that as a confirmation that she is actually dead. I personally think that the cover story took place some time ago and therefore Pudding is not up-to-date with information.
Blackbeard is also the guy who said Luffy wasn't ready to be an emperor like a month before he beat Kaido so maybe he was just assuming Law would be a pushover... then again i do wonder if he had a plan for Luffy or if it would've been the same deal.
Something I like about Blackbeard underestimating Law and his Crew is that this isn't the first time. The man is a VERY strategic and calculating man, that doesn't take battles he thinks he can lose. But he ALSO tends to underestimate opponents he doesn't know much about. It happened in Impel Down, when he tried to fight Magellan with his entire crew and was completely defeated in a single attack. We know a lot about Law, but his Crew itself isn't too famous, we don't hear news about the almighty Bepo of the Heart Pirates, no, we only hear about Law. And what is know about him is that he defeated Big Mom by fighting together with Kid, he didn't defeat her alone. So Blackbeard is probably thinking "Law? Sure, I think I could beat him in a 1v1. But considering his Crew is a bunch of nobodies without Fruits, and I have an army of legends with the very best Devil Fruits I could find... Yeah, this will be easy, let's go and beat him up." Underestimating Law's Crew like that is totally in character for Blackbeard, and making mistakes like that make him an even more interesting character, since he is a mastermind but he isn't some supernatural genius taht somehow can predict the birth of his biggest enemy and how exactly his life will pan out. No, he's simply a dude making plans with what he knows and having to wing it when they don't go as expected, and he managed to become a Yonkou like that. This makes him even more impressive than if he was simply a perfect mastermind XD.
Prediction: Zoro’s demand is that he wanted as much “Future Booze” as he could get. If Vegapunk is so smart, Zoro probably thinks he made “Booze 2” or something.
About Kuzan. Just remember the conversation between him and Smoker. He said "I'm still me...". That for me solidifies that Kuzan is not with the BB pirates because we all know from all the flashbacks who and what Kuzan is like and his personality.
I think Sabo also called Kuma a sweet & gentle person, so I really think that Kuma is that. But the rumours of him being a tyrant and it becoming his title has some merit. Maybe he had a corruption arc? And to get himself what he was he submitted himself to Vegapunk. Maybe it was like something he can't control like Big Mom's hunger pangs.
So the outfit machines on Egghead give people either futuristic gear or aloha shirts. Who wears a lot of aloha shirts again? Oh right Franky. Is this another common feature between Franky and Vegapunk? A shared love of aloha shirts?

Other than those points these chapters were amazing.

Manga have often that form thing that is a reference to th 6 paths or virtues, somthing omething into hinduism that has devided aspects. It a trope. I am nort even ure if thats deep becau characters having aspects and devied personality is just a trope that exists.
Also, tthe other inventions, yeah amazing, but the cooking, i have problems, cooking is an art, thats unrealistic.
I love thay Jimbei's character flaw is his lack of tact, he doesn't shy away from saying what he thinks doesn't matter if it might not be the right moment
can u be more specific..
@@abdur1300 like when he was talking about Kuma with Bonney in the last chapter. guy is super blunt
Just like when we first met him in Impel down with Ace. "Why would I help your brother? I don't know that guy, I mean, maybe."
And that time Sheliw was like you guys are trying to get into the New world with no real ship lol. He plans for the long term not the short term.
He's the guy who has _a_ plan, but some steps are muddled or missing. :)

Since Vegapunk has ties to Dragon now maybe Dragon will be able to pull a Palpatine/Order 66 and turn all the Pacafista/Seraphim against the government at some point.
And climate control against Ryokugyu.
Anti nature
Artificial gadgets anyway
I started reading One Piece a few months before you did and I already knew your channel. As soon as I saw that you started reading it too, you immediatly became my favourite One Piece creator on TH-cam. Keep it up with the great work!
Thank you so much!!
@@tximinoman Fair enough, since you aren't saying that the blue prints are too complicated (for engineers) to understand
I don't think kuma's a lunarian. There's too many differences between him and King and the seraphim. But, there's definitely a possibility he's one of the races that Big Mom mentioned that was "lost to time"

@@thapediselepe8893Oni aren't even a race. It's just something the fandom made up distrorting Kaido's words
He's also disguised how he might not sleep, because he's a robot now.
Gee-whiz, that sounds downright like something governments in our own world might do.

Imagine if Kuzan lets pudding go in a similar way that he let Robin go.
Totally didn't get the connection between Kuzan being the one to capture the two young women who can read the ponegliffs. At this point I wonder how much of this is intentional by Oda, or if he just he's just written so much by this point that any interaction between any two characters will have layers and layers of context behind it.

@@algorithm63 BB approximately knows about all the Supernova powers on a base level at least. He even knew about Law's basic Room abilities. But was surprised when Law activated awakening. Kuma seems to set up as one of the last of the other race big mom was missing from her "family" and im interested in what Kuma really is he really is one of my favorites in one piece and he is the prime example of self sacrifice
Zoro is gonna ask Vegapunk to fix the crew's sense of direction
The crew's of course, because his own is immaculate in every way.
12:30 actually, Bonney was the only supernova that DIDNT see either Kuma or the Pacifistas, which was probably deliberate
The "plan" Blackbeard had was
-Hope he finds the Darkness-Darkness Fruit. (Luck)
-Catch a big bounty (Luffy was his target). (Ace and the proceeding war were luck)
-Leverage that bounty to become a Warlord.
-Use Warlord status to recruit the strongest of Impel Down. (He challenged Magellan and almost died)
-----
Because of the war he accidentally caused, THEN he realized Whitebeard would be weak and went after the Gura-Gura and, when 1-on-1 combat didn't work, his entire crew jumped the guy of their own accord (luck).
Sanji looks like he would stab in retaliation. Meanwhile Robin would stab without a warning and Zoro would stab as a warning.

Law's crew are humans (at least from what we've seen) as they said "Don't underestimate us those who were born/grew up in the south cold water/sea).
I think the Strategic part of Blackbeard's plan was he knew one of the three with ponoglyphs would have to pass through there because he knows what the next destination is. When Law, Kid, and Luffy decided ways to go; Law was excited that he got to go the right way. So Blackbird was very clever as to know exactly where he was going to get the glyphs but he had a 33% chance of who was coming through
Omg I didn’t notice Jimbei taking Chopper’s hat and tucking it away for him that’s so cute!!!
Nami is an underestimated boss
"Look at the swordsman. He knows you are in range for him to end u in an instant."
The thing about Kuma's race is :
In chapter 951, when Big Mom being held at Onigashima after Udon Prisoners mines incident, Big Mom invited King to become part of her crew, right?
Augr is stronger than stronger
Stronger is augr than augr
vegapunk : I don't really care about the world, I just want to make stuff
me : sure buddy. as expected
vegapunk : Dragon
me: sorry what?
Look at the cover with Pudding in front of Aokiji. It looks like there's debris flying behind her. It might also be a Vivre card of Big Mama thrown away before it can be found. Pudding might also make use of her memory manipulation to steer others away from discovering she's alive.
Just like Whitebeard said "Blackbeard is overconfident sometimes"
I love the theory that Kuma is just half-Lunarian. And the Seraphims are based on the study on King who's full Lunarian and a direct update to the half-Lunarian Pacifistas.
I believe Kuma will end up being either a half-oni or something entirely different. There is just nothing Lunarian about him aesthetically.
Big Mom definitely needs to return to thank sanji for the cake
I also think Kuzan is a SWORD member infiltrating Teach's crew, the same way Drake infiltrated Kaido's crew. But I also think Blackbeard is too smart for that. He probably knows Kuzan is a spy, and Kuzan is probably also aware of that, so they're just using each other until one of them finally backstabs the other.
Merphy, I really like your videos and perspective. There were two things you mentioned that need some clarification:
Again, the perfect One Piece fix for the break week.
It's good to have you as a Nakama.
Here's a theory about Bonnie's fruit I posited to Joyboy Theories:
Bonnie's fruit doesn't simply age a person; if it was that simple, her power would've been given it's title card already because it SEEMS that straightforward.
One of my favorite parts about the island is the fact that oda is putting old gaming consoles and handheld in the backround
I think Zoro wants the cure of the side effects of smile fruits
How do you feel about AI art? It's been somewhat of a popular topic lately where I am.
Like Gandalf, he has a lot of foresight, instead of detailed plan he is more of "We got to do something about the Dragon and the Hobbit will make the difference between success and failure." But he is also like "Plan is to adapt to the problem when we get to it"
2:35 She got so worked up, she spoke with an italian accent 😆
I mean tbf it's pretty hard for Blackbeard to make plans other than just a simple ambush since he didn't know who exactly he was gonna run into. He himself said he wasn't sure if Luffy, Law or Kid would end up where he was
Since reverie arc, I actually like Bonnie, and in these latest chapters I'm finally starting to understand her 😭🌊💖🔥
seeing you unpack these last 3 chapters and your theories has been fantastic.
I really really like the age percentage theory with Vegapunk. It makes A LOT of sense.
Zehahaha...BB puts smile on my face. He is just like Luffy. He is enjoyable true pirate.
Yeah, this will be easy, let's go and beat him up."
Underestimating Law's Crew like that is totally in character for Blackbeard, and making mistakes like that make him an even more interesting character, since he is a mastermind but he isn't some supernatural genius taht somehow can predict the birth of his biggest enemy and how exactly his life will pan out.
Vegapunk splitting himself into six versions is such a Pain...
#IfYouKnowYouKnow
I love Blackbeard because he's like the only 'real' pirate in the series.
He's impulsive, tactical, brutal and that makes him fun to watch.
Jimbei with his unconscious bias towards anyone who isn’t a straw hat and a human. Just immediately on the attack 🤣
