    thank you soooo much for making this video, it definitely helped me understand more about international schools which i was interested in but since i don’t have a teaching license i guess the EPIK route will be more convenient ❤️❤️🥺🥺

      There may still be some options at international schools. I met someone on my flight to Korea who doing something at an international school, it just wasn’t teaching home room. But EPIK is a good option to get to Korea as well!

    This was interesting to hear about your experience! I moved to Korea in 2012 to work at a Hagwon. Then I worked at a bilingual school, it was still an E2 Visa and 10 weeks vacation (before anyone asks, it was a legit E2 visa position haha) You'll thank yourself later if you make content about your life in Korea, I would love to be able to look back at videos at my time in Korea. I didn't start making videos until I moved back to Canada. My only regret is I didn't do it sooner haha.

    I'm down in Gwangju! I've been here for 5 years with the GMOE. We probably didn't run into each other because of the whole panorama lol. I came into EPIK with my teacher's license as well. Did you use a database or agency to help find your current job? I have decided to finally get back into classroom teaching on the international level and it's all a bit overwhelming.

      I'm sad we didn't run into each other! I searched up schools in Seoul directly. I literally googled "International schools in Seoul" and looked at different websites 😅 I definitely considered applying at the one in Gwangju as well.

      @@ms.nelsonsedvantures the pay isn't as good at the Gwangju one so you're probably better off lol. Thanks for replying!

    I currently work at a hagwon and am considering getting my PGCE, is this the same as a teaching license? Would they consider my 1 year of teaching experience in Koreav instead of in my home country?

    I really enjoy watching your video as I am interested in teaching at an international school in South Korea. I just have a question about EPIK. When applying for an international school, do they consider your EPIK experience as part of your full time teaching? I currently live in Canada but it is difficult to land on a full time long term position (from Sept to June). I've done several full time/part long term teaching experiences (it's a full time job but I only did it from mid-Feb to end of June) therefore I'm thinking of moving to Korea, get a job at EPIK, gain my teaching experiences (if international school counts this) and then apply to international schools. ---- *** I do have a teaching licence from Canada***

    Hi, I am with a kiwi partner who is an English secondary school teacher. He is trying to get a teaching job in an international school in Korea so we can move together, but we are having a hard time. Can I ask how you get a job in international school?

    I have a question: Suppose someone comes over with EPIK with just a bachelors but they decide while they're over there to also get a teaching license. If we're already fluent enough to take a local class and obtain a license right there in Korea would that be enough for an international school to seriously consider us? Thank you.

    Thank you making this video! Do you know whether, if you are applying for EPIK, you have to apply for the VISA, get your documents apostilled etc before you start the EPIK application? Thank you!

    • @ms.nelsonsedvantures
      @ms.nelsonsedvantures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't apply for your visa before you get accepted (you need certain paperwork from EPIK to apply for the E2 visa), but I recommend getting your documents apostilled ASAP. It can take a while and it makes things go a lot faster if you have that done.

    if I'm licensed to teach General Education Grades 4-8, but have only taught middle school history, do I have to spend years teaching at an elementary school or elsewhere if a role opens up for example, primary teacher, or secondary science teacher? I teach history all day, errday

    • @ms.nelsonsedvantures

      It will vary from school to school. Most schools like you to have experience teaching the subject they hire you for, but some may be fine with the experience you have. I would say if a job opens up your interested into apply anyway and see what happens 😊

    Thank you for this informative video! I just have one question.
    I work at an English Center and I would like to move to a public school in my city. However, I heard that since I'm at a center I can't just transfer and would have to re-apply through EPIK all over again.
    Is this true?

    • @ms.nelsonsedvantures
      @ms.nelsonsedvantures  ปีที่แล้ว

      So, my friend literally had that exact issue and she ended up going back to her home country. You can reapply but they are very unlikely to place you in a public school unfortunately 😖

    Thank you so much for this information!😢 I am a fourth grade teacher in Georgia. I only have one year of experience, do you think I should try applying to international schools in Korea or should I stick to hagwons or EPIK? Just curious if my one year of classroom experience is enough to get me into an international school. Thank you so much!! ❤

      It doesn't hurt to apply. Teaching abroad can be a truly amazing experience. But yet, it can be lonely at times.

    I want to work as a counselor in an international school in Seoul. I’m working towards my MA in Counselling and am eligible for the F-6 marriage visa since my husband is a Korean national. Some job postings state a teaching certificate/license is required, and others do not.
    I’m just wondering if you know from a legal standpoint if I require teaching certification to be a student counselor in Korea? :)

    • @ms.nelsonsedvantures
      @ms.nelsonsedvantures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are looking for a job in an international school that isn't teaching, then the license is probably listed for visa purposes. However, if you are on a marriage visa and will have a masters then that may change the requirements. I would say still apply even if you don't have it because it may still work out for you.

    What document do i need to prove my work experience for the E7 visa

    • @ms.nelsonsedvantures
      @ms.nelsonsedvantures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is different for each job. My school provided paperwork saying that I was a licensed teacher with experience (they called my references to verify during my interview process) and that's why they hired me, so the immigration office took that as my proof of previous employment. Other schools may ask you to provide letters from your previous employers for proof as well.
