Just looking at the words they use, it would seem that peak hours and rush hours are not the same thing. Related but not the same thing. Peak hours seem to be the busiest times when people want to be in the City. Rush hour has long been the times when the mass of people are going to work or going home. So no, rush hour is not 15 hours long.

    • @leshawnjefferson6150

@thefingerofgod69 incorrect. In the nyc dialect rush hour is "peak hours"! The language "peak hours" is used synonymusly and can be seen on train schedules and tolls. Your use would be inconsisten with the MTA's current language.

K, so the question now is, if more people are taking the train this Sunday, is MTA running more trains ? Weekend public transportation sucks, that’s why a lot of people who need to get to the city drive their cars, instead of waisting addnl 30-40 minutes of waiting for bus/train

    • @jw15jawan

      1) That's precisely the type of thing the congestion pricing will fund. Improvements across the board, needed maintenance, etc.
      2) Passengers on trains scale far more efficiently than cars on roads. Just a single more train in a period of time can transport thousands of people.

MTA takes now the money the city/state used to get in sales tax, payroll tax, etc. Expect increase in lawlessness, eg ghost license plates, as acts of civil disobedience

NJ could benefit from this. NY just pretty much sealed its fate so NJ can really step up & have its time to truly shine. I just hope they dont repeat the same mistake & make things super expensive like NY. Encourage all businesses & leisure activities currently in NYC to consider moving to NJ & give them some type of incentives. I myself am at a point where i don't even wanna shop in NY anymore because you know this congestion fee is gonna get passed to the consumer.

So great it is finally happened! We will keep hearing from unhappy drivers that congestion pricing is a bad thing, but reality is that drivers are unhappy no matter what. If you don't want to pay this toll, so don't drive to NYC because vast majority of newyorkers are not driving, we use subway, busses, and bikes

I guess you don't need to drive into Manhattan to Make a living....this toll is BS.

@limomangeno there are plenty of ways to make living in NYC without driving. People who drive in NYC take so much space now they just need to pay their fair share of using this space.

There's outrage now, but people will quickly adapt and get over it. The same thing happened in London, Stockholm, Milan, Singapore and more. Now virtually every resident of those cities say it was a good thing.
