Thanks a lot for showcasing the pure sound of this bass (and some more). I'm strongly considering to buy it and that helped me a lot. Btw.: Your band is ace, exactly my cup of tea!
Thank you for the video. You are the only person I can find who did a flatwound vs. roundwound demo. I am getting this bass for that exact sound. A retro “old school” sound. Great job!!!!!
Really glad you found it useful. I actually tried to find a video with flats on this bass when I was thinking about buying one. Could not find one so I made it myself.
Nice to see and hear comparison with double bass - had to let mine go in the 90s. The HB60 sat well in the mix with your band, which was also a joy to experience. Very Doors influenced IMO, and no complaints here!
Thank you! - I was wondering how the HB-60 would sound (read: if I would "need" it among my basses), and I would likely choose flat-wound strings (likely Thomastik) for it. So you showed it both with round- and flat-wounds, and even compared it to your double bass. Bravo! It's great to include the rehearsing clip, but I may need to use headphones to hear you there. However, I have created a Spotify playlist for the album. (Don't hold your breath: I keep adding playlists, but I haven't listened for months.)
I wasn't paying attention to this video playing in the background until suddenly that awesome song started playing... an outro I thought? Let's check and there's your band playing... Great stuff!
great tone... might order one. always been vry hesitant to pay top $ for something im not sure im going to like but this video makes me want to try it out real bad. im mostly playing oldschool soul funk... and a pbass is great but theres something about a hollow body that just attracts me
I took a look at it, and I'd say it's possible. The neck is symmetric, and the body is symmetric too. There is a block in the middle of the body, nothing fancy like bracing or something that would make it impossible. The volume and tone in the lower part of the body will get in your way though, so those need to be moved. That leaves a couple of holes in the bass. Scratch plate leaves couple of screw holes too, and I would also more the output jack, and that's going to leave a hole. I'd talk with your local guitar repair guy about the holes and how those can be masked. Other than that, fully doable.
Thanks @@MrTeijo much aprecaited. Seems a lot of trouble, but for the price it may work out cheaper than buying a Guild Starfire that comes in a LH model..!
Hello there :) im after a bass that i can enjoy alone at home just play for myself, i like Orion with Cliff Burton "from" Metalica type of bass playing, will this be a good one for that you think? Is it of good quality? I have also looked at the more Rickenbacker like modell from Harley Denton, that one is realy cool to, i use to own a Rick in the 80,s :) best regards from Norway.
Personally I wouldn't use this one for that type of music. I have another HB bass, one of the Jazz bass copies I would use for those. Haven't tested the Rickenbacker copy though. So I can't say much about that. HB-60 is more for sixties thing anyway. You could make it work but Jazz bass or P bass would probably be easier for that.
@@MrTeijo I did buy a Epiphone Thunderbird yesteday, i hope that one can work 😃 it was several weeks wait for the Harley Benton,s... but i still like the Harley Bentons, the price is very good.
IT's very close to a Gretsch G5440LSB but the Gretsch is almost $1100.00 USD. The Harley Benton sounds fine. Save the $800.00 USD or so and lol on your walk to the bank.
I recently got a HB-60. It plays great, but I would love to swap out the pickups, and I’m have trouble finding something the right size. Any suggestions for pick up models?
I like the original pickups so I haven't really given it a thought. Strings are a bit narrow compared to Fenders and such. Maybe a Curtis Novak Dark Star?
now it says the bass will be in stock in 2-4 weeks www.thomann.de/intl/harley_benton_hb_60_wb.htm although I wonder if it's exactly the same? the color seems a little different..
The color have been changing with every patch so far. I wouldn't worry about it really. When I bought mine, Thomann had that same red color in the photos as currently, but mine turned out to be walnut brown. I'm guessing it's too cheap to bother taking new photos.
Intonation is a tad difficult to get spot on, no individual adjustment other than shaping the bridge, and the only way to get the intonation adjusted is to move the bridge. So I have been having fun times with that all the time
A pleasure to listen to some professional musicians fabulous playing I enjoyed it so much
Just want to say thank you for your excellent demonstration of this bass. I've ordered one thanks to you.
I love the band also. Fabulous music!

I came for an example of how the bass sounds with TI flats, but I stayed for the awesome music. You lot are great!
Amazing demo. You should do more

great video, so great to hear pro musicians reviewing gear. Kiitos
Thanks for the commentary. I enjoyed your playing quite a bit. This is such a nice looking bass with beautiful sounds. I also enjoyed your band.
Thank you for comparing to the double bass. I was looking for that.
Nice that it was useful! I was super impressed by that sound myself.
Same... I'm looking for something to emulate a double bass sound and now I'm considering buying this.
Just purchaed one. Can't wait to get it
Honest review about that model was exactly what I was looking for
Thanks for the demo. Sounds great.
GREAT BAND !
The Bass Sounds really great.

Do you have band or your Facebook ?

Thank you! Gear is nice and all, but the music is the reason to get gear! So happy you liked the song!
Very interesting, above all, comparison with flatwounds ! I hesitate between this HB 60 and the Guild Starfire 1 🤔
Thanks a lot ☺
liked your band!

Came for the bass guitar, stayed for the song
Same here 🙂
good work man, thanks. :)
Outstanding

I Like this Song 🎸👍🏻😊
Thank you kindly! Glad you liked it!
Excellent thank you! They don't make these in LEFT HANDED..... if i buy a righty and turn it around + a professional set up - will it be okay?

Niiiiicccce!
The band was almost like Allman Brothers Band back then.
Great demo. How much does it weigh?
Thank you! I'll need to weigh it when I get home, but it is easily lightest bass I have owned.
Finally got to it, it is a little under 3,5kg. So not that much.
5/8 Congrats!

Unfortunately this bass is no longer available for purchase. Seemed like an incredible value.
Sad news. They had problems keeping it in stock all the time. It was too good to be true in the end.

I’ve got one on order that will be coming in the new year.
Is the bass just out of tune, or is the intonation out? Anyone?
