We just purchased our first 35’ Meridian from Adventures of Happy Ours. I’ve only ever owned bass boats in the past. We are intending on doing the Great Loop in a few years as well. Either in this Meridian, or whatever we may own by then.
Just found this channel, great content.. I’m in Grand Haven, Mi, 1985 Trojan 11m International. I love that 2nd boat, can’t wait to see what you picked.
Been watching the last few videos, and after this one I hit the ‘subscribe’ button. 😊 Really enjoying your content so far on the boat search, and that Jefferson certainly looks like it checks off numerous boxes - it’s a lot of boat in 42’, with so many little touches that show she’s been well cared-for. Added bonus: if you have insomnia, you can become obsessed with monitoring the boat’s systems all night on the ginormous TV at the foot of the bed! 😂
Thank you for joining us for the journey-- It's great to have you on board☀️ We agree the Jefferson is a fantastic option! We shall see what the future brings. Cheers!
Just found your channel...cant wait to start our journey in 2 years. good luck!!!!! if you have yacht insurance questions let me know. this is why i got into yacht insurance is to learn about the insurance aspect for when we get ours. Cheers!
The Marine Trader would be good IF you wanted to take a year+ to thoroughly clean and refurbish it LOL. AND figure out a way to hinge the solar bimini on the flybridge of course. The Jefferson is a lot closer to being ready to go (pending a survey that is!) and the aft cabin layout would be perfect if you have some guests on board for any portion of your journeys.
It's your journey not mine, but I agree with your 3 dumpster comment about the Marine Trader. I see a boat with a lot of delayed maintenance by an owner that doesn't really care. There will likely be a hundred things needing repair or replacement and most of that will be expensive. The Jefferson 42 looked nice but those engines are getting tired and may not make the trip. Generator hours? Check the receipts on all work but it looks clean and well maintained. And what's all that wallpaper hiding? 3300 hours. 900 hours to do the loop? I don't recall but mv Chekmate just finished and he gives the numbers in his what it cost video.
I live full time on a pilothouse trawler and would not trade it for anything. Yea I’m slow but very comfortable both at anchor or underway. If you’re going to loop that Marine Trader 49 would be my choice.
Hey guys, Happy New Year. Any chance you could drop a link in here for that first boat? Good luck with the boat shopping. I sense you probably found one though....lol
Glad you passed on the Marine Trader. They were cheaply made from the get-go and come with rotten wood everywhere, lousy iron fuel tanks, and poor systems. The Jefferson looked much, much better. Those naturally-aspirated 3208's should be bulletproof because they have run with such low-stress over the years. If there are no nasty surprises found in a survey the Jefferson should make an excellent Loop boat.
Marine traders can be excellent boats as well. Just depends on how well they are updated/ maintained. The cats on the Jefferson do have turbos, but they are small low-pressure turbos, so shouldn't be too much wear. Cheers!
HELLO FIRST TIME WATCHING YUN'S CHANNEL NOT THE LAST THO !!! Good video ! Question in the engine room theirs 2 flat stocks that are right above the drive shafts, can yun's tell me what they are for and do ? Thanks ! Keep the videos coming!
I believe they act as the anodes for the shafts! I could be wrong, though. If so, both should be making contact-- and only one was, so that would have to be tweaked. Cheers☀️
Run away from the first one! Everything tells thatThe owner does not love his boat looking at the mess all around. The second boat seems a lot better, at least it is prsented a lot better, and the cats are reliable!
I dont know boats all that well but I know people and you both look like you just got your prom dates and no matter what she says keep the tv in the stateroom
