    Fun fact- spyderco was the first knife maker to put a pocket clip on a knife

    Thanks for the review. I recommend really playing with the Manix 2. I hated the ball bearing lock at first. It was stiff and difficult to use. However, it broke in quite nicely and I can now close it with just a thumb. Opening is lightning fast also. Really flies open with flick of the first or second finger (or thumb). If you give it time I bet you’ll come to love it! I certainly do.

      The screws come super tight . Cracking the screws and re setting relieves a lot of the stiffness .

      @@Knivess0 that is true, but this was based on personal preference, and that's fine, but that's not an actual head to head showdown.

    I have both, and love them in different ways. The manix feels more sturdy, and I love the bearing lock, but the pm2 feels smoother for me and is significantly lighter. I don't notice either in my pocket, weight or size, but I lean towards the manix.

    Thanks for the review. I have a PM2 and looking to picking up a Manix 2 as a rotational work blade. Where you have me confused is when you gave the advantage to the Manix for the ball cage lock but in the end you gave the intangible advantage to the PM2 for the compression lock. So do you prefer one lock over the other because of fidget factor or because the one lock in your opinion is superior to the other?

    I like the Manix 2 , I have 3 of them one blue FRN lightweight and 2 in M-390 one in satin finish one in DLC finish brown G-10 . I installed Flytanium ball cage locks in both Great knives .

    I have the p.m. 2 and the Cold Swift American Lawman and I absolutely love them, I bought my son the Mattix 2 and I think I would like that over the Pm 2
    but not enough to trade it, so I decided by the Mattix 2 extra-large can’t wait till it comes in see if it rivals the recon 1

    I’ve had a pm2 in s30v and then i’ve bought a manix 2 in m390 later. Finally sold the pm2 because i didnt give it the love it deserved. The manix 2 speaks more to me but they’re both really good knives. Can’t go wrong with either

    Why do you remove your knife from pocket at the very end? Maybe i'm the odd one out but I put my index finger in the groove on the clip with my thumb opposite gripping the widest part of the g-10. I suggest you try that way and you'll have absolutely no problems with the manix.

  • @Hungrybird474

    They’re both great imo . Can’t lose on either . Manix 2 would handle more woodsman heavier chores easier bit working on a farm even a para 3 comes in clutch. I found after cracking the screws and re setting relives a lot of the stiffness and running them dry for a week brand new. Apparently shaman and smock are winners too . These spydercos are getting pricey to mod out . $3-$450 knife inc.

    I have EDCd the Voyager XL for a few months now and love it, but it is a little bit "too much" at times, and having to lug around a sharpener as well is getting tedious. So I ordered both these. Can't wait to try them out.

      @Knivess0 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you think of your purchases?

    • @WeldingForJesus
      @WeldingForJesus ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Knivess0 Well, I have to admit that I havn't used the PM2 much yet, so it's hard to give any real opinion of that one. But I have been carrying and using the Manix 2 quite alot, both at work and at home, and it's mostly positive.
      I do like the design, the mid-size format of it, the lock and that it gives the impression of fairly high precision in fit and finish. The blade geometry is also on the plus-side; it provides an acute tip but without the feeling that it will snap by breathing on it like the PM2 does.
      The edge retention isn't as good as I would have hoped, but it's not bad either. I'd say middle of the tree "ok".
      I'm not crazy about the pocket clip either. Not the design, but that it is a bit soft; had to bend it back into shape once already.
      All-in-all I'd say it was a good buy for the money I spent, but wouldn't be if they priced it much higher.

    I prefer the g10 manix 2 in hand over the lightweight.
    I had a decision to make, manix 2 lightweight salt vs pm2 salt. I went with the pm2 because I like the g10 manix and pm2 over the lightweight manix which feels a little unbalanced to me.

    I like the look of blade shape of the manix-2, but the feel of the para 2 blade. As a lefty, I don't like the lock on the para 2, but I don't like the action of the manix either because the spring is too stiff. Manix feels heavier, but not too heavy.

      @@bushcraftjoe5961 I'm sure they make a few of them for lefties, but they are probably special order. I bought mine at my local outdoor sporting goods store on sale. I never pay top dollar unless I really love a product. Unfortunately companies and stores seem to forget about us lefties when it comes to products like that where it matters. Manix 2 , shits all over the compression lock and axis, as well as linear and frame lock. Much more reliable and solid, allows you to grip your knife properly too without worries about deforming the lock bar on a frame lock

      I have the Manix 2 and had a Benchmade Freek. The Spyderco ball bearing lock to me is WAAAYYYY more solid then the crossbar lock. I love this knife. Sold the Benchmade because of it. Had no use for it after getting the Manix 2. Sturdier overall build as well. It just feels more solid...in a huge way.

  • @AGC828
    @AGC828 ปีที่แล้ว

    You're point of how a knife feels pulling it out of pocket DOES MATTER. Another drawback of a lot of Spyderco knives e.g. PM2 and M2...is they have a lanyard hole at the bottom ..not comfortable to grab or on some knives not at all... even if you just throw your knive in your pokets ...there's nothing reall at the ends to grab onto...so you end up having to force your hand deeper into a tight jeans pocket to grab the middle of the knives...
    T's have a better well thought through desgin throughout and are actualy "built like tanks"...not just marketing hype.
