I would like to give you a huge thank you for your precious help. Your video saved me from paying loads of money to fix a very simple issue. My Kia Sportage 2014 sunroof had never opened before whilst my husband used it. It was stuck and never opened. I was always intrigued by the situation. But after 4 years of the car purchase, last week I did some research and I found your video and guess what BOOM! I decided to give it a try and fortunately, it's working properly now. So, I can’t thank you enough for your brilliant video. Bless you!
Worked for me , the rear runners and channels were blocked with tree debris, leaves etc so fully cleaned and re lube and work perfect again. Many thanks for the Video.
This worked perfectly. My Sportage’s sunroof would not close without being strong armed by hand but I followed this fellow’s advice and after cleaning and lubricating with silicon oil (about £6 from Amazon) as shown in this video it’s now opening and closing fine… So thank you. If ever I am in Leicester I will seek you out and buy you a drink!
Big thanks too from Yorkshire. I decided to open the sun roof today, baring in mind a long journey tomorrow. So instant panic, when the sunroof would not return. However, I did get it returned but am now going to attend to the problem next week. Hopefully, problem solved. Excellent stuff.
Thanks for that. I haven't tried this fix yet, but I know that it will work based on what you have shown. And the good news is that I already have some silicone oil. Much appreciated.
My wife bought a Kia Sportage in January and I'm buying the exact same model next week and was a little worried about how to maintain the sunroof. Your article has put my mind at rest and I've just bought the same oil that you have from eBay for £7.99. Many thanks for your video clip!!
Hi, do you have a link for the wind deflectors on your bonnet and doors. Also WD40 shouldn't harm plastic but I will get some of that silicone oil, thanks great video
What about cleaning the drainage? Does Kia Sportage has it (like BMW X5), and therefore need some cleaning? Or not relevant for KIA? Mine is Sportage SL (3).
It is if sun roof is not maintained correctly, lubricant is deadly cheap so nothing to worry about it just make shure is working when you will buying new car
hiya i buy car last year and i have the same problem like you on video . i try to find the lubricant oil but i can't . if is possible can you send me the links to ebay or Amazon please thanks
Sorry to hear that, probably motor is damaged already and lubricant doesn't help enough, but if your car is still under warranty you shouldn't be worried at all, that will be covered
@@customvintagesoundsleicest8414 yeah thats what it is looking like hopefully covered by the warranty we told them about the issue in feb but they failed to ring and the covid happen then when everywhere was open again they still didnt contact us

Thanks so much for this, despite the lovely weather I didn't fancy leaving it open all night.

Also oil the rear runners, accessible not inside sunroof,
How about using Blaster silicone lubricant?

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392225999413

@@customvintagesoundsleicest8414 amazing thankyou so much
Dzieki!!:)
Mam nadzieje ze pomoglo 👍👍👍
Was yours making a clicking noise?
Yes was clicking noise, after lubrication was almost completely disappeared
Is this a common problem with kias ?
It is if sun roof is not maintained correctly, lubricant is deadly cheap so nothing to worry about it just make shure is working when you will buying new car
hiya i buy car last year and i have the same problem like you on video . i try to find the lubricant oil but i can't . if is possible can you send me the links to ebay or Amazon please thanks
I WILL TRY IT AND TELL YOU
Has anyone had the glass strip in front of the sunroof break ? I think an old school car wash caused it to be pushed in and crack ?
Thanks. Give it a shot tomorrow.
Keep the sunroof open
A seven minute video that simply shows you putting oil on it. My sunroof is broken, this video didn't help me at all, thanks anyway tho.
Ade org melayu x sni?
unfortunately the product didn't work off for repair on the 10th hopefully not a large bill when it should be covered under the 7 year warranty
Sorry to hear that, probably motor is damaged already and lubricant doesn't help enough, but if your car is still under warranty you shouldn't be worried at all, that will be covered

Could you use wd40 silicone spray?
Hi if that's is clean silicone without any additions yes
No
Wd40 is a moisture dispellant not a lubricant
No. WD40 Petroleum based and will damage rubber seals and plastic.
