does this work with just the light switch or do you need the ikea remote dimmer?
It only works with dimmer, which is sold separately as per the instructions manual.

Yes, you can as the wire is long enough.
The silverglans driver is way too complicated for what it is, hardwired into the wall…

Yes, the wire connection was placed as per different layout. I also don‘t like it but hard to change now :(
