    I went and looked at the Deere. Nice machine. I like the modular cutter bar. Lots of power, and nice steering system. Go for it.

    1st I enjoy watching your videos. I was going to suggest getting the computer reflashed, but after much thought, if New Holland does not buy it back. Call Messicks in the morning. Ask them for some more Messick Stickers for advertising purposes. Next clean up the speed rower 240 and add the stickers. Next take lots of pictures. Place Speed rower on a 45 day eBay auction attach all of your TH-cam videos of the speed rower in action and also as a lawn ornament. Make sure you do NOT offer a BUY IT NOW option and no early buy out sales! Ship worldwide for a fee of course. That way we have a worldwide audience. Make sure you have a reserve. I am hoping NEW HOLLAND buys it back for 3 times what you spent on it. Best of luck Mr. Pandy!

    Look into the JD hydro-swing disc mower conditioners. Awesome machines, easy to get through gates. NH used to make a bi-directional tractor that had a disc mower on one end while you had a hydro-swing on the engine end. Could at one point in time cut a 36 foot cut. Not sure what the sizes are now with the disc mowers. I've always had JD equipment, never had issues with a John Deere.
    You shouldn't have to take a loss. NH dropped the ball. I feel your pain, never liked NH self propelled mowers. Met one down a dirt road once, driver hit a dirt clod, spun him completely around in a circle, thank goodness I'd already went past him at the time.

    Short on power, check your fuel filters. And triples are better than windrowers, in Ireland we grow the heaviest crops in the world so we know our stuff. The tractor "boosting" to 215 hp doesn't make it a 215 hp tractor, you needed something bigger. Plus a tractor is more useful off season.

    here in germany, there are most claas and krone running, they're really reliable and handle really well (i've driven a krone by myself), but if u can't get parts for them when u need it, u need go for the john deere....

    Wes , As I see Messick's selling Krone as well, so you have good dealer than !
    I would try to involve Krone in the story and try to get a good deal out of them.
    Krone is the No 1 in hay and forage "period" !
    In terms of parts availability you can not beat JD, since the US is their homeland , but you do not need lots of parts for good machine ! :-)

    Did my college internship this summer at CNH in New Holland, PA with Dealer Technical Support. Sat next to the product specialist for New Holland and Case IH windrowers so I heard all the horror stories about these machines, you arent alone. The product specialist up to his eyeballs in complaints with these things anywhere from bearings going on the head to the hydrostatic system blowing apart. The big problem with these is the hydraulic pump grenading and then everything is contaminated

    I know how you feel! I started to modernize after taking over the farm from my old man.
    Alot of the equipment was old real old so as a young expanding farmer I started to buy new equipment bought 2 new holland units this year and both have had field service out atleast 3 times a week. going to buy a new swather this week and im terrified that all the new equipment they make these days needs a full time mechanic to chase you around. hard to get things done!

    The axle on our New Holland manure spreader (vintage 20 plus years) had just broke in half. I mean the I beam axle that had a wheel on each end broke in half!
    We looked at other manure spreaders and we settled on a John Deere of the same vintage(used) and I couldn't believe how much heavier it was built and how solid it felt while being used compare to the NH. To this day I can't comprehend how New Holland is even still in business. John Deere isn't perfect but at least they try very hard to build a quality product.

    If anybody is wondering whether or not customer satisfaction matters to companies anymore I read an article about Jet Blue recently that sheds some light on the subject. According to author Jet Blue, which has an excellent record of customer satisfaction amongst discount travel providers, needed to focus less on customer satisfaction in order to satisfy thier investors. I believe this article was in the Wall Street Journal, and although it is not a shocker, I have suspected it for years, it is disconcerting. Several years ago I worked as a service tech for a local dealer and they sent me to the Gehl service school, which was a very good two day event. They focussed on customer satisfaction and encouraged us to listen to the customer. The two men that taught the course spent thier time in the field addressing issues customers had with Gehl equiptment. I don't know if Gehl still does business this way but I hope they do. Good field service is not only dependant on the commitment of the technician but also on thier employer, sometimes the boss is not as interested in customer satisfaction as the technician, then the tech has to decide if he/she should meet the customers need or do what the boss tells him. I had a customer that was having trouble with a new sprayer and after some troubleshooting was sure it was an issue with the pump. The boss would not let me swap out the pump or even tear it apart and see what was going on inside. The fourth time they were going to send me out there to get chewed on by the customer I stopped in the lot and took a new pump off a sprayer in the lot, installed it, problem solved. I could have been fired for insubordination, but just got chewed out by the boss. I never got a chance to tear the pump down and see what the problem was because it got sent back to the manufacturer. Of course I also remeber a time when I went on a call to replace a belt on a lawn tractor deck and the customer was complainig that belts only last him a season, so I told him I would hang around a few minutes and see if I could identify any reasons for this. He liked to square off the yard and every time he came to the corner he turned off the deck made his curly Q and then, without throttling down the engine would re-engage the clutch when getting back into the grass. I stopped him and explained to him that engaging the deck clutch was much harder on the belt than just running the deck was and that he did not need to turn it off and on at the ends, and that his belt would last much longer. He called and complained about the bill when he got it.

    If it helps any, The Claas US Parts hub in Columbus, Indiana is expanding. The Addition is easily twice the size of the old building. Very large building now for a Parts Hub. They must be trying to curb long waits for parts by stocking more in the US.

    I know you'd probably be a little skeptical trying another new series of mowers but you may want to see what the new New Holland speedrowers are like. Who knows, they may have fixed the hydraulic steering issues and such. The hp was increased again, now 260 on the biggest mower. Definately worth a look anyway, they look neat, thats for sure!

    I from sweden, was on vacation home mid August, whent on a trip about 150 km, to visit another town, 85% of the farmers where harvesting wheat, 15% were dairy farmers and when it comes to equipment it looks like anything goes. But when it comes to those harvesting wheat it was JohnDeere tractors and Claas combines that was popular and on that entire stretch 1 NewHolland combine.
    Another day took a trip nw about 30km same pattern JD tractors and Claas combines. And so if I heard you right you were happy with your JD mower? Why not just stick with JD then? :)
    I like you videos, sticking that camera in there and showing us.

    Trade it off to Deere as/for a demo unit. Our local Massey dealer bought a Deere 7330 with major transmission issues and every farmer that they loaned/rented/sold the machine to was allowed to demo a new Massey side-by-side. So many farmers had buyer's remorse, and bought a new Massey instead, (including my mega farmer neighbors who farm over 100 quarters and have over 30+ pieces of JD equipment) that I really believe Lonnie has no intentions of really selling it. My neighbors use that new Massey as a feed yard tractor, and I've heard rumors that Deere is busting their ass to get the Massey off the place before they totally jump ship on the JD brand all together.

    • @bradchoq
      @bradchoq 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That JD 7330 had three IVT transmission rebuilds before it hit 5000 hrs. Moral of the story- machinery companies should buy back their lemons before they become an advertising centerpiece for their competitors.

    • @bradchoq
      @bradchoq 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      New Holland needs to ship this thing back to the factory in Grand Island, Nebraska, have the engineers tear it down and diagnose the problem. Then, update the future models before the problem become a cascading failure issue along the entire windrower line... Being proactive is always cheaper then being retroactive. No offense to Messicks, but this model's problem is too new for them to diagnose, trouble shoot and fix via conference call with the plant. Some thing need to be fix on-site and seen first hand.
      T-L center pivots had an issue with a new pivot in Texas continually breaking gear boxes. Finally, the VP's got fed up with endless conference calls and hopped on the company plane to see the problem first hand. Turns out, the system was a 1/2 mile system and the owner didn't want to fall behind irrigating- so he disabled the well engine shut off so the system would keep running. When the system came around to the underground pipe trench, it would get stuck and water in the same place all night there creating a mud hole along the whole length of the trench. When the pivot was pulled out the next day, the next tower would sink in the trench and break a gearbox when the tire tried to climb up the solid sidewalls. The service guys couldn't figure that out over the phone because the owner never admitted to unhooking the safety shut-off. I think they covered the whole thing under warranty, despite the fact unhooking the safety voided the warranty. Anyway, long store short, somethings are better fixed by the people who designed it on-site.

I used to work for an agricultural Contractor who had one and he could get through THICK Irish heavy, wet silage (pure shit full of doc leaves) at 15mph first cut. It's a fucking dream. The setting and computer is mint. You could set all mowers to drop at custom times. And looking at American hay, it is very light compared to Irish stuff ( Thick as fuck ) which is also wet underneath and wet stuff! :)

    It's a shame but I don't think you will get relief from New Holland or Messicks. I tried to return a car one time within three days of purchase and the dealer wouldn't have any part of it. I hope you get relief and I hope if you buy a J D that it will be a good experience. It's getting late in the hay season so maybe you will have the winter to fight these guys. I'm partial to J D because for several years I sold J D parts and my Uncle's farm always had green tractors. Even though my Uncle is gone now the farm still has all green tractors.

    Seeing what it does and how the header runs the hydro oil is slipping the all the pumps as if almost they did not get all the brass out and it somehow somewhere it got into the pumps and destroyed them again if that's not it there is a MAJOR hydraulic problem.

    Did you try running this unit with the power management on or off? If you go into the screen and turn on the power management it will make a big difference in the engine pulling down. It sounds like it could be a setting issue. As far as power there is no difference between this one and the Case that you had.

    Wes, hate to say this , but you probably should start the LAWYER BS ! CNH , needs to get a letter to their corporate office . Also have you checked on line , are other CNH owners with the same machine having problems also ? if so , then it could be a "Class Action" case , may help in reaching a settlement , good luck

    That John Deere Kuhn triple setup would differently be short of power. Our krone mower is only 9ft wide, small but works for what we do. Well you put that thing in a heavy crop of oats or wheat and 130hp john Deere is really working driving it. Different story is alfalfa you could put it in eco pto and it would drive it all day.

      Same here, our's is a early 90's, belt driven, 9 foot conditioner model (only one gearbox/less to go wrond). A big contractor owned it from new but only used it for small fields by the end, all I can say it's the most reliable mower we've owned (one seal, one PTO guard, dribble of oil in the gearbox before the season starts and half a set of blades in 5 season, well it came with a few spare blades as part of the deal) best bit of it is that we only paid £300 for it, the only problem is that the 7840 can max it out easily at about 6 miles an hour in 11 bales to the acre crops of hay/silage (round bales). Might see how she handles hole crop next year, unless I find a cheap 10 foot model ;).

      Arwel Davies Our Krone is a roller conditioner also, the reason for us with sticking to the small size is in heavy irrigated alfalfa the smaller windrow is easier to dry and then 2 9ft rows is the perfect size for a small square baler. Then for the round baler, with the twin rotor rake i put two together and push them one way and the come back down the other side and push another 2 against the first one and you end up with 36ft of crop and the perfect windrow to drive straight down with the baler and the McHale baler just loves being feed. Normally the windrow is tire to tire and rubbing on the front axle, it aways amazes me what it will eat, I swear it must have an eating disorder.

    Atleast you can see if it is possible to get a demo on a Krone to see if it is any good.

    Hi Wes, When you buy these expensive bits of equipment - how do you decide which the best one for your farming needs. I was wondering why this machine fell so far short of your needs?

    • @wagil90
      @wagil90 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      JD has an outstanding parts distribution network in the states. There isn't any reason why you shouldn't have your parts within 2 business days. Sure you may pay more upfront for a piece of equipment but down time is money lost as well.

    I'm not sure if they sell them here in the U.S. bit I'd get a Keverland Tarrup triple mower, I think it would be better than a Kuhn.

    Go take a ride with the farmer and his JD mower before New Holland calls you back. That way you'll know if you want to go greene or stay red. Who knows maybe they'll work you a great deal on an upgraded NH machine? That things looks terrifying to take down the road. What a shame.
