    It won't take you long to get used to this machine it is the smoothest running machine i have ever been in. The only difference in this one and the one i own is just a computer setting on the fuel. if you buy this i would say great choice its stable going down the road and is very smooth in the field. on thing i would do is switch those tires around because if it gets wet you will need to have the traction to get through.

      @TheRestOfTheStory 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree about the tires, I was working on a bit of a slope and when I would turn around to get lined up again I would spin trying to get back up the hill. We do having another video coming on another demo, one that you've talked about quite a bit in the past. I will say that I agree with you on your opinions on it.

    I've worked farming all my life and had the opportunity to operate many wind rowers and my favorite was the Heston 8400 16 ft header.

    We have a JD moco discbine with flails and we used that and a windrower like you have here in the same field and cut at the same time. It took 2 days LONGER to dry the hay that the windrower cut and we had gone through with a tedder and spread everything out. The windrower had those steel crusher rolls like in your video. We cut a decent amount of hay and we have always had better luck with flails.

  • @conormurphy2653
    @conormurphy2653 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    What you guys want is a big m from krone. The 420 and 500 are ridiculously efficient. I drive for a agri contractor over in ireland and his big m 420 cut 200 acres in a day. 200 acres spread across multiple feilds which meant about 60 km driving between them in total . We get around fairly well. Two big m mowers and three class jaguars 980 in the one feild. No bother keeping up with the choppers

    What is the advantage of a self propelled mower compared to a 9m or wider butterfly on the tractor? Apart from that it is self propelled and turns quicker than a tractor. Here in Sweden most larger farms use butterfly mowers.

    Make more sense to me if you are going to plan on getting another big tractor get one with a front PTO. Then you can plow/harrow with that in the spring. Put triple mowers on it and run it that way all summer. Then hall grain cart in fall. Have you ever looked into buying a Pottinger terradisc and do most fields minimum tillage.

    • @EyebrowsMahoney
      @EyebrowsMahoney 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +flyhound97 why so hostile? You do realize this is a demo tractor right? It spends a lot of time in transit. That said, a farmer that has a lot of outside fields may want them this way if he spends a lot of time transporting to various field contracts. Seriously though, what I mentioned is exactly what the OP mentioned earlier

    • @EyebrowsMahoney
      @EyebrowsMahoney 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +flyhound97 Yeah it's a wind rower. Where I'm from we in general call general machinery tractors, unless of course it's a combine where we'd say combine. What are you trying to sound smart for? Oh man I called a wind rower a tractor. end of the world right?

    • @EyebrowsMahoney
      @EyebrowsMahoney 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +flyhound97 Who died and made you God of colloquialisms? Get bent troll.

    • @EyebrowsMahoney
      @EyebrowsMahoney 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +flyhound97 a colloquialism is exactly that, a colloquialism which is a localized way of saying things. There is no one true and right way when it comes to language which evolves over time. A tractor is any such vehicle designed for putting a high amount of tractive effort (i.e. torque) at slow speeds especially for agriculture or construction. A wind rower is just that, a machine designed for high tractive effort at slow speeds to cut and mow down large amounts of grass or hay into a neat wind row. A troll is a person who intentionally attempts to cause chaos by inciting arguments, insulting commentors, and posting extraneous or inflammatory content the Internet for the sole sake of disrupting normal discussion for the sake of provoking emotional or irrational response in such a way for their own enjoyment or amusement. Trolls often display a God complex in which they'll refuse to admit the possibility of their own failures or errors due to an inflated sense of self worth, and/or infallability or ability despite irrefutable evidence contrary to their argument or lack thereof. Research indicates that most trolls are likely to be attempting to distract or detract from their own poor sense of self worth and reassure themselves of their own respective value by being intentionally derisive often depicting sadist, psychopathic, and antisocial traits.

    Unless you're going big into the custom business, I don't see how 40 acres of hay pays for a $190,000 mower...

      +Thomas Rouse We do custom work, and I said it's not something we'd get right now. But even we don't know if someday the farms will be in 100% hay.

      So just because you watch farming on TH-cam shouldn't mean that you should want to do it yourself? Right.

    • @EyebrowsMahoney
      @EyebrowsMahoney 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can watch stuff all you want and that's great for narrowing down what you are looking for. Then you should get your hands on the vehicle or implement to see how it handles and feels to you. You really need it to feel right for you to be productive. Everyone has a preference and you're working best when you're comfortable with the machinery you are operating.

    • @Dustin_Hruzek
      @Dustin_Hruzek 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was only a joke. I farm and understand that you should test things yourself, that is actually true for everything.

    OLF doesn't believe in crimpers for some reason.

    • @GTFarming
      @GTFarming 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      for the hay OLF makes, crimpers aren't a needed

    • @onelonleyfarmer
      @onelonleyfarmer 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      ok i can clarify this quick.. i do not mind crimpers at all rollers i do not like. i have had very good luck with the flail system in every make i have used so thats why i went with it on the Deere. as for making alfalfa or clover or any other legume type of hay it is a bit rough on the leaves but not as bad as you would think because of the V design. i l;love my W235 and i think the W260 is not necessary for the size header and crop type Ryan is using it for i wouldn't mind it for the heavy grass type hay i am doing.

      how are your flails in the long reed canary grass... The grass likes to wrap around the flails for some reason on mine.

    Keep in mind, this is government subsidized factory farming. This has nothing to do with real farming.

      what????

    • @davestone983
      @davestone983 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, the Gov pays these guys big bucks to grow GMO crap to feed the masses. If you grow organic natural food you can't afford tractors like that unless you charge prices so high for your harvest nobody will buy it. It is what it is.

    • @jakeziegler599
      @jakeziegler599 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Dave Stone wow you have no idea how farming works! The problem is there is no way to control weeds in an organic crop! And there's not enough manure around to fertilize. And there's not enough people who want organic food to make the price go up! Do u ever go in and get a shot for chicken pox?? You are genetically modifying your self makin you self resistant to the disease. All farmers have done is make the plant resistant chemicals

    • @hawkinsfarms9663
      @hawkinsfarms9663 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Dave Stone if you farm you are eligible for subsidies. They don't care if it's GMO or no GMO... You don't makes as much because you can't grow as much GM crops. Now you might not get a no-till subsidies due to the fact you have to work the dirt more to grow non GMO/organic. But I can only speak for us but we haven't been getting subsidies or CRP checks because our ASCS in MO is out of money (that the rumor anyway) believe me the government doesn't give 2 shits if we stay running or not..

      Nobody puts a needle in me bud. There's an old saying. The doctor dresses the wound but God does the healing. Well, if you know how to harness that power, you'll never go to a doctor again. Anyway, I don't eat GMO and I'll pay whatever I have to pay for real food.
