El mejor defensa de todos los tiempos. Que pena que en ese tiempo no hubieran tantos videos como hoy. Hay grandes defensivos en la historia y la mayoria son de Italia, pero el mejor sin duda alguna es Franco.
Franchino Baresi, popularly known as Franco Baresi (born on May 8, 1960 in Travagliato), is a former Italian footballer, known as one of the best defenders in history. He developed his entire career at AC Milan. Baresi is the second best player in the history of AC Milan after Paolo Maldini played more games with his club with a total of 719 games, also stands out as a player who won almost everything with his club; to have been champion 6 times of the Serie A, 4 times of the Italian Super Cup, 3 times champion of the Champions League, 3 times of the European Super Cup and 2 times of the Intercontinental Cup with a total of 18 titles. The Italian The national team won the 1982 World Cup. He was selected in 19th place as one of the 100 best players of the twentieth century by the magazine World Soccer, and 17th in Placar magazine in 1999. He was also selected as one of the 50 best players of the 20th century by Guerin . Sportivo Magazine. On the other hand, Pelé selected him as one of the FIFA 100 players, he was included in the all-time team by Planet Foot magazine in 1996. He was also selected by the newspaper La Repubblica and the Dutch magazine Voetbal International as one of the the best soccer players and was selected player of the year in Italy in 1990. For all this, in his honor, AC Milan retired shirt number 6 in recognition of his successful career and is considered today as one of the best liberos in the world. Fifa describes him as an "extraordinary" player.
no doubt the best central defender in football history when he wins the ball he switch to midfielder with good pace passing and he finish the action he build or assist to his teammates which is brilliantly amazing grazie franco baresi 🇮🇹 thx for the upploader 2 🤞❤️
Far and away the best defender of all time. This video also clearly shows how todays "top" defenders haven't got the first clue about positional sense and tactical awareness.
Now this is just blatant nostalgia bias. Today's top defenders : Ramos, VVD, Chielini etc all have great awareness, positioning and defensive abilities. I'm not saying they are on the level of baresi, but they aren't terrible.
The late legendary Swedish player and coach Nils Liedholm (who played for and trained AC Milan) when asked to name some of the best italian players ever, replied :"Baresi, Baresi, Baresi, Baresi and Baresi"
94' World Cup Final Romario met his maker .Two of the most important members in squad lost a penalty. An injured Baresi had Italy's defense gate closed , thus runner ups , great team. Generally speaking that's how unpredictable football's nature can be and that's where the magic settles in .
Franco Baresi was the best defender of all time !!! ... How he was able to anticipate game situations was already extraterrestrial !!! .. A real defense chief with high game intelligence ... the best example of this was the legendary offside trap by AC milan in the late 80s early 90s with Baresi as libero and clock, and the triple chain in front of him with Costacurta central, Maldini on the left and Tassotti on the right to dominate a true power demonstration in Europe (5 times in the final of the CL in 7 years !!! ) ... it was a little long ago, but still a piece of football history with Baresis signature
Agree, Beckenbauer was a very good middlefielder who adapted as a defender. Baresi, imho, had it all, except the fact maybe he was'n to so good at heading, but he was the classical sweeper (even in the Sacchi's AC Milan), so he did'n t really need it
Baresi is better at tackling... Beckenbauer is more skilful on the ball... both were great readers of the game... possibly the 2 best central defenders of all time.
Dalla Serie B al tetto del Mondo - sempre e solo con il Milan! Grande Franco, Capitano unico e Uomo con due palle cosi!!!!!! Grazie di tutto Franco, orgoglio Rossonero e di tutti gli italiani!
We were in the middle of the golden years of Serie A, when a defender gracefully led you :) Here even Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo would have found it much more difficult :) with all respect for the 2 .
He's a sweeper defender, a position that doesn't really exist anymore in today's football. Football, and thus defending, was played differently in that era.
Exactly, the sweeper defender was a position behind all defenders, it was the last man before the Gk and the one who called the other defenders and set their positions. Sweepers defenders (or "liberi" in italian) were probably the fusion of a defender and a midfielder.
Great vid of just how Awesome this man is on the Football pitch. He is example of Defending Art.. so never talk of GOAT as only forwards, Baresi is Brilliant in more ways than any other player. and Franco is Great as Leader, a true Captain and inspiration, human qualities are above even football.

The greatest defender I've seen in 40 years of football If you ask any true AC Milan fan who the greatest Rossonero ever was, they will not hesitate one second. Now think of the players that played fo AC Milan though history.....
Why is the music of these videos always so hysterical? This should be accompanied by italian opera. That would the appropriate soundtrack for a Baresi-skill-video
Back in the day I always thought he looked old and slow but he was deceptively quick. Saved his fellow defenders countless times with that pace to get to those last ditch tackles. A very good reader of the game but had no qualms putting his body on the line in the heat of battle. Maldini was excellent at left back but didn't come close to be as good as Baresi at centre back. Those were the days when Italian defenders ruled the football world.
The digital innovation happened just after Baresi retired. That's why we have so many little boys who think Maldini is this and that, when Franchino is on his own in our history. Not only the greatest Milan player, but the greatest Italian footballer of all time.
I agree with you. Only Meazza could be on a par with him. Not Rivera, not Valentino Mazzola (I'm sorry to say that, such un unlucky man with all his teammates), not anyone else. I really don't get why Beckenbauer as a sweeper is considered the best player of a powerhouse as Germany, but Baresi is somehow dismissed. He was the best player in one of the 3 top clubs ever

Baresi, Costacurta, Maldini and Tassoti were the best defense of that era. In the period from 1989 to 1995, they played 5 Champions League/European Cup finals - 1989, 1990, 1993, 1994 and 1995. It was a monstrously strong team.

Magical & wonderful. Before Baresi there was only forwards and goals. After I seen Baresi my eyes were opened to the art of defending. No. 6 forever Baresi
Mamma mia Francone. Ogni tanto è bello rinfrescarsi la memoria. Quanto giocavi bene
A World cup 3rd place, a World cup runners up, and also a World Cup winner.....Franco Baresi for you 👏
The most greater defender I've never seen on football fields. Baresi was supernatural.

I remember Gary Lineker once said in a podcast, "imagine you have dribbled past Bergomi, Ferrara and Maldini, and then you saw an italian smoking in front of you ready to take your ball away." That's just show how brilliant Baresi conducting the defens backline

3.superb timing of tackles.

Speak about Franco Baresi, it remind me to his Asics football boots. Always dream to wear one & finally I afford to had one with my money that I collected. This happened more than 30 years ago. I had a wonderful moment to watched the Serie A weekly report broadcast to us once a week on those days. Still fresh in memory some of great Milan players: Rijkaard, Gullit, Van Basten, Maldini, Albertini, Massaro, Contacurta, to name a few. Such a great moment. Viva 1990’s.

His greatest advantage was his pace and physical strength. Real legend

Far and away the best defender of all time. This video also clearly shows how todays "top" defenders haven't got the first clue about positional sense and tactical awareness.
Maldini was much better
@@andreasansonetto4122 Nesta was better than both.
Now this is just blatant nostalgia bias. Today's top defenders : Ramos, VVD, Chielini etc all have great awareness, positioning and defensive abilities. I'm not saying they are on the level of baresi, but they aren't terrible.
One know less than the other lmao dont talk if u are so ignorant
Nah modern defender and modern football in particular is much better
The late legendary Swedish player and coach Nils Liedholm (who played for and trained AC Milan) when asked to name some of the best italian players ever, replied :"Baresi, Baresi, Baresi, Baresi and Baresi"
@Harry Snothead The swedish trio of the 50s was better than the ducht trio of the 80s
He is THE reason why I cheer up AC Milan. Il Capitano!!! My favorite European player
His positioning and defensive awareness is amazing one of the top defenders of all time
94' World Cup Final Romario met his maker .Two of the most important members in squad lost a penalty. An injured Baresi had Italy's defense gate closed , thus runner ups , great team. Generally speaking that's how unpredictable football's nature can be and that's where the magic settles in .
El mejor central que vi en mi vida .Jamás nadie volverá a tirar el fuera de juego como el.
When it comes to defending Baresi is simply an all time great and one of the best ever central defenders.
The word Legend is used not deservedly sometimes.
This guy is a true LEGEND.
Best defender ever
Qaz there is paolo maldini
Yup u are right
gaetano scirea is better
no
Becakenbauer best defender ever
England's Ray Wilkins said Baresi was easily the best player he ever played with.
Better than Beckenbauer in my opinion. He was awesome against Brazil although he missed the PK.
Baresi con quello che ha vinto almeno due palloni d'oro!!!!!
Baresi is the best italian libero ever but Beckebauer was better and more influent not only for his team but for the game as a whole.
Kaiser played almost midfielder other football both Extraterrestrial

Grande Franco, Capitano unico e Uomo con due palle cosi!!!!!!
Grazie di tutto Franco, orgoglio Rossonero e di tutti gli italiani!
We were in the middle of the golden years of Serie A, when a defender gracefully led you :) Here even Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo would have found it much more difficult :) with all respect for the 2 .

He's a sweeper defender, a position that doesn't really exist anymore in today's football. Football, and thus defending, was played differently in that era.
Dian Dian it was the famous catenaccio style
you don't know what you're talking about, no offence.

Why is the music of these videos always so hysterical? This should be accompanied by italian opera. That would the appropriate soundtrack for a Baresi-skill-video
Как-же он красиво выполняет свою работу. Превосходный защитник, так элегантно и без нарушений отбирать мячи. Просто космос,а не игрок

Thanks for not ruining this video with crappy hamstertechno.
